As soon as you drive up to the front, it's clear this imposing home is something very special indeed. Its arching windows, tower room and checkerboard terrace make this the quintessential Umbrian villa. And inside doesn't disappoint either, with frescoes, tiled floors and antique furnishings. There's a fabulous, professional-grade kitchen for whipping up meals both casual and formal, with the latter served in the grand dining hall with a series of tall French doors that open to the terrace.

Outside, the grounds are beautifully maintained, with cypress trees, lavender and rose borders surrounding the lawns. A large, pristine pool awaits, with sun loungers and a shaded poolside dining area that also boasts a bar. And there's a play area for the children, shaded by mature trees. 

Just a short drive from the stunning Marmore Falls, and with easy access to Todi, Spello, Orvieto and Spoleto, it's an area known for its fine wine and excellent food. The centre of Acquasparta is an eight-minute from the home and Terni is twenty minutes away.

The garden is a haven of tranquillity and natural beauty. Float in the swimming pool while you watch bees bob around the flowers, the hum of insects the only sound to disturb the peace. Spend hours at the alfresco dining table, turning languid lunches into lively dinners as the sun sinks in the sky and the wine is poured more freely. 

When the Tuscan sun is at its strongest, shelter in the traditional living room, beneath wooden beams. The villa is cool and calm, with enough room for everyone to enjoy their own space. 

You might like to drive out to explore the region, popping into Palazzone to eat pizza in the much-loved restaurant. The villa stands in unspoiled gardens within seemingly endless fields and woodland – you’ll feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle, but the shops, restaurants, and thermal springs of San Casciano dei Bagni are less than 5 kilometres away. You’ll need a car to explore the area, but your efforts will be rewarded with visits to some of Tuscany’s most picturesque spots.

Stroll around the village of Panicale, right on your doorstep, or drive over to Perugia for a tour of the excavations under San Lorenzo cathedral, followed by a mosey around Porta Sole, the city’s creative quarter. When dusk falls, pick out a family-run restaurant for a selection of hearty local dishes.
