From the dining table on the terrace, you can gaze out over the sea and there are plenty of seating nooks in the shade. The real highlight is the private staircase leading down the cliffside to a rocky swim platform set up with loungers and parasols. Just remember, it’s quite a climb back up to the villa. The living room is huge, so big groups will feel at home here, and a wall of windows shows off the sea view inside. Tiles in the bathrooms might be a little garish for some, but who cares when the outside space comes with that view.

We think this unique home has the wow factor in spades, offering you a taste of traditional Italian style combined with elegant accents and mod-cons – not to mention its own distinctive character which really sets it apart. Clearly, we're not alone in our thinking, as the tower was recently used for the filming of the James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' — well, if it's good enough for Mr Bond, it's certainly enough to get us shaken and stirred. 

Boasting an unforgettable location perched atop a dramatically descending cliff that overlooks the Maremma, this one-time watch tower has been tastefully restored in such a way that is sensitive and appreciative of its past, creating an atmosphere that feels both special and timeless. You need only to set foot on its beautiful terraces to feel the true magic of this place. 

Gaze out over the glittering waters, admiring the islands of Argentario, Giglio & Montecristo or take the short stroll down the semi-private walkway that leads directly to the shoreline and a rock platform beach shared with just one other villa. We loved nothing more than ambling along the path toward the clear waters before finding a comfortable spot to sit with a packed lunch of Italian meats and cheeses – the perfect accompaniment to the idyllic setting.

Spend the day at Constanti winery – this is where your host works, so she will be more than happy to give you a tour of the place. Beautiful vineyards surround the loft and a wide range of wineries to sample some of the tastiest glasses of red.

After you've eaten, pick a book off of the shelf, and snuggle up on the sofa while the moonlight shines through the windows. Not far from Porto Ercole, this home makes the most of its coastal scenery. You'll be just 900 metres from the beach, and the views are downright blissful – they stretch across the sea to the island of Formiche di Burano. Everyone will appreciate the swimming pool, and the terrace makes the perfect spot for a nightcap as the sun goes down. Each bedroom has its own entrance, and the one on the lower ground floor is ideal for those who don't mind steps. When you're ready to explore, you'll find the small village of Ansedonia nearby, as well as Orbetello, which is a ten-minute drive away.
