Peeping over the glittering blue sea towards the islands of Elba, Corsica and Capraia, this apricot-hued villa is all beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and sheer curtains that drift in the gentle breeze. Though the villa exudes traditional Tuscan charm, it’s brought up-to-the-minute with a flash chef’s kitchen and hydro massage tub – perfect for easing aching feet after long walks through the countryside. 

When it comes to picking a spot from which to soak up the sunshine, you’re utterly spoiled for choice. The home is surrounded by 10 hectares of land – think enchanting woodland, Mediterranean scrub, and ancient olive groves. Take your place with a double espresso by the pond or chill out on the terrace with a Campari and tonic at sundown. 

Spend long, hot afternoons swimming unhurried laps in the infinity pool, stopping now and again to refuel with delicious Italian fare in the rustic yet elegant dining space. If you’re keen to explore your surroundings, jump in the car and take the ten-minute drive to the seaside. Rimigliano Coastal Park was one of our favourite places to while away the hours.  

Dreaming In Technicolour

Step back in time at this Tuscan apartment. There’s a private terrace overlooking the communal grounds and olive trees. There are two shared swimming pools (one with a Jacuzzi), with views over the surrounding countryside and the sea in the distance. And in the gardens featuring paths lined with fragrant wisterias, there’s a fire pit and a barbecue area. Inside, there’s a cosy living space with character features and an open fire. This room also sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full occupancy. When you want to explore, the famous medieval village of Castagneto Carducci is located about 4 kilometres away. 

The Old Carriage

As you'd expect from a home in Chianti, there are plenty of picturesque spots to sit back and enjoy a drink at this villa. You'll get the best country views from the pool terrace – the hydromassage area is a nice touch – but you could easily opt for patio drinks or picnics on the lawn. The interiors are classic Tuscany – open-plan living spaces linked by arches, which frame the green views outside and provide plenty of options for entertaining – the long dining table is perfect for family dinners. While a day trip to Florence is possible, we recommend making for historic towns like San Gimignano and Volterra, both under an hour away.

Charm of Elsa

Panoramic views, a sunny garden, and a private swimming pool – what's not to love? Fuss-free but perfect for families, we love that this home is an easy drive from the coast. The beach is just 8 kilometres away, or you can head inland to Volterra, San Gimignano, and the famous wine region of Bolgheri. The design is modern and simple, letting the outdoor spaces do all the talking. If you're looking for a laid-back stay, it has everything you need.

Carducci's Coast

This elegant home in Tuscany is in a dreamy spot in a valley, in a countryside setting that leads to absolute relaxation. The villa is full of character, with antique furniture and wooden beams, in addition to mesmerising views. 

The outside space is lush and pretty. Roses and lavender have been planted alongside a wealth of trees, making the garden feel like an oasis. In the morning, sip coffee at the table under the gazebo, admiring the views and planning your day. If you’re anything like us, you won’t be able to resist a dip in the hedge-lined swimming pool for long. Dry off on a sun lounger with a good book, or start a table tennis tournament with your friends. 

In the evening, set up outside at the long dining table. You might like to arrange for a local chef to come and cook for you – that way you can enjoy a cocktail hour on the terrace before dining as the sun sets beyond the valley. 

The villa is only a short walk along the river to the centre of peaceful Poggibonsi, so you can easily dine out in the local restaurants or grab a gelato. Montemorli vineyard is just a twenty-minute walk up the hill, while the medieval beauty of San Gimignano is a mere twenty-one-minute drive away. Slightly further afield, you can be in Siena in thirty minutes, and Florence in an hour.  


Verdant Valley

​​Restored by an Italian architect with a gentle touch, this villa has been updated and split into more modern apartments, but without ever compromising on the original charm. By honouring the villa's history – and thereby retaining its character – the home feels traditionally Tuscan with its terracotta tiles and wooden beams. Walk barefoot across the floors to savour the coolness of those tiles on hot days, or light a fire in the wood-burning stove and stare up at the beams, imagining what life would’ve been like here. Nonnas rolling out pastry for tortellini, children helping churn gelato, wine flowing, and bowls of food changing hands in a celebration of ingredients, and life. You might even wish to recreate that – a holiday well spent.

Alternatively, spend lazy afternoons sitting under the vines outside as you watch the sunset on the horizon. Head out to authentic Italian pizzerias for pizza and gnocchi, or make a gelato run before exploring the surroundings. 


Bellissima Casa

Set in the heart of the countryside, this apartment provides a peaceful retreat. Imagine relaxing on the private terrace or spending time by one of the two shared swimming pools (one has a Jacuzzi). The views from the communal gardens over the surrounding countryside and the sea in the distance are stunning too. You can enjoy more vistas from this home’s windows. The traditional interiors are cosy, and the living room here sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full occupancy. Location-wise, there’s plenty to see and do. You could start with exploring the famous medieval village of Castagneto Carducci, about 4 kilometres away. 

Wisteria Walk

Tucked among olive trees on the Etruscan Coast, this traditional Tuscan villa is set up for long, unhurried days outdoors – a wood-fired oven, barbecue, sun loungers, and an outdoor shower all waiting in the fenced grounds. When you're ready to move, the beaches of Sterpaia and the Gulf of Baratti are a few minutes by car, and the ferry port at Piombino, a twenty-minute drive away, puts Elba Island within easy reach for a day trip. Air conditioning in every bedroom means warm evenings stay comfortable, and free parking is on-site whenever you need it.

Fig Season

An open space in a sixteenth-century building, in the hilly outskirts of Florence that, at time at times, has been both a stables and a nightclub, Thermae is one of the most spectacular places we’ve seen in Italy. Its restoration has been a labour of love for the host, Giovanni, and the way that he’s incorporated technology into the original structure is simply impressive. There’s too much to describe here, but know that everything's been taken care of. And if we did have to choose one thing that stood out, it might have to be the pool, hidden away in the vaults, and only accessible through a trapdoor.


Thermae

This unique home offers an unparalleled escape to a private island in Tuscany, where the sea sparkles and time slows. Once a lighthouse, it's been beautifully restored, blending historic character with effortless luxury. You’ll step into a bright living room with cosy seating, a library of lighthouse tales, and a spiral staircase leading to the terrace. Here, the en-suite bedrooms open onto a private space with parasols and loungers. The on-site chef curates every meal with fresh local produce, allowing you to truly kick back and relax. Days are made for basking in the sun, soaking in the hot spring tub, paddleboarding, snorkelling, or quiet reflection under the stars. To reach the island, you'll need to purchase a dinghy or helicopter taxi service, but it's absolutely worth it for the seclusion, beauty, and unforgettable experience.

Lighthouse Island

In the hills overlooking the charming Tuscan village of Montaione, this two-bedroom villa is ready to welcome guests to an authentically Italian summer escape. With its modern interiors and comforting decor, guests will be charmed by the living and sleeping arrangements here – but the real highlight lies in the exterior. A large pool with sun loungers and umbrellas, multiple outdoor sofas and an idyllic alfresco dining table combine to make outdoor living a delightful experience here. When you’re ready to explore, Montaione is minutes away – from here you can plan excursions to San Gimignano, Volterra and San Vivaldo.
