We think it's pretty easy to see why we picked this home – just look at those views. Overlooking the bay of Nisporto, you'll have everything you need here for a slow-paced Italian escape. The interiors aren't the most exciting, but we like how the home is split across two self-contained apartments (connected by an external staircase), making it an excellent option for friends and families to holiday together while retaining some privacy. We imagine you'll spend most of your time on the terrace, but should you want to venture out, the beach is only 650m away, while the town of Portoferraio is a twenty-minute drive.

With direct access to Padulella Beach, this villa guarantees a memorable stay on the island of Elba. By honouring the villa's history – and thereby retaining its character – the home feels traditionally Tuscan with its terracotta tiles and wooden beams. This elegant home in Tuscany is in a dreamy spot in a valley, in a countryside setting that leads to absolute relaxation. The villa is full of character, with antique furniture and wooden beams, in addition to mesmerising views. 

The outside space is lush and pretty. Roses and lavender have been planted alongside a wealth of trees, making the garden feel like an oasis. In the morning, sip coffee at the table under the gazebo, admiring the views and planning your day. If you’re anything like us, you won’t be able to resist a dip in the hedge-lined swimming pool for long. Days can be spent riding the horses from the stable, exploring the area by E-bike, or taking a cookery class at the restaurant, where you might learn how to make fresh pasta or cantuccini. On more relaxed afternoons, treat yourself to a spa or beauty treatment – there is nothing more serene than a massage in the garden, with a gentle breeze and a soundtrack of cicadas.

Nestled away in the countryside outside the idyllic hilltown of San Gimignano, this extraordinary villa combines exquisite interior design and a sprawling collection of amenities to make for an address that is sure to win over even the most discerning of guests.

As you walk about the house for the first time, you might find it difficult to single out a favourite room. Inside, it’s a calming medley of Japanese zen and Scandi-chic touches. The living room is set around a big fireplace and raw-wood tables and wicker lampshades are a nod to your natural surroundings. The kitchen could be the envy of any professional chef, with a huge, range-style cooker perfect for the fresh produce on your doorstep.

Getting out and exploring, you’ve got Italian countryside all around you and the village of Marsiliana is less than ten minutes drive away for supermarkets and pizzerias. Twenty minutes away you are spoiled for choice – from the charming medieval villages of Capalbio and Pitigliano to the glamorous beaches, bars and restaurants of the Silver Coast.

This is a restful home on the outskirts of the village of Brenna, which is just five minutes away on foot. If you need to cool down, you might stroll five minutes to Stazione Balneare Merse where you can swim from the river beach. It takes twenty minutes to drive to Siena, making it a perfect day trip.

Located in the coastal town of Punta Ala, you’ll have direct access to the water, via steep private steps from the garden (the trek back up isn’t for the faint-hearted). There are two living rooms here (although the design may not be everyone's cup of tea), and all of the bedrooms are en-suite, so it’s a great option for a group. We love the outdoor spaces most of all – you’ll have a choice of spots to enjoy a morning espresso, alfresco lunch, or sundowner while admiring the panoramas. Location-wise, you'll find a beach, a golf course, and Punta Ala Marina all within a few minute's drive.

Perched on the cliffs of Populonia, this home offers a picture-perfect Italian escape. Outside, you can soak in the stunning sea views while relaxing on the terrace. Inside, the rooms are simple, fresh and well suited to families in search of ease and comfort. This charming apartment is in the old town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, a typically medieval region of Tuscany famous for crystal glass production. It’s a ten-minute stroll into the centre where you’ll find restaurants, cafés and archaeological museums beyond the ancient town walls. Further afield, the city of Siena is a half-hour drive away, ideal for a day trip.

The apartment itself is housed in a striking 16th-century building just outside the bridge that leads to il Castello. Wood beams on display hark back to the building’s roots, but the decor is decidedly modern. Vibrant modern art is displayed above the plush, L-shaped sofa and the kitchen is a sleek space of white cabinets. The best bit is the view from French-style windows, which shows off golden fields and hills, even though you’re a short walk from the town centre.

The window seat is our favourite spot – in the mornings, there's nothing better than enjoying an espresso as the smell of fresh-baked bread rises from the bakery below.

One of Tuscany's hidden gems, Suvereto is rife with old-world character – picture medieval walls, cobblestone streets and sidewalk cafes overlooking ancient churches. We love the laid-back pace of life here, but with vineyards, hiking trails and beaches like Spiaggia di Rimigliano all a short drive away, you'll be well-placed for exploring, too.

Enjoying a secluded spot in the Chianti countryside, this traditional stone villa is packed with things to keep you entertained. The gardens are a delight, where olive groves provide a spot for a shady stroll, and vineyards tumble down the hillside around you. Set up for a lazy lunch beneath the pergola – there’s dining for the whole group here. Shared between a handful of stone villas on the same estate, there’s a swimming pool at the bottom of the garden.

Inside, whitewashed wooden ceilings speak of days gone by and there’s a traditional Tuscan farmhouse vibe throughout. Terracotta floors keep things cool underfoot and bedrooms and bathrooms are all super spacious. The kitchen in jolly aquamarine-blue is more than big enough to handle the hustle and bustle of a busy breakfast time too.

Exploring the area, you’ll find the charming village of Lecchi to be a six-minute drive away where the ruins of an ancient castle await. Plus you’re in the Chianti wine region where the hills are dotted with family-run vineyards and wineries galore.
