Exit through the French doors to reach the lush garden, where a jade green swimming pool invites swimming and sun-soaking aplenty. In the evening, the pool takes on a magical lantern-lit glow, perfect for sundown dips. This Tuscan home is set within a peaceful garden just outside the small town of Sarteano. Offering tranquility and privacy, it’s the perfect setting for a slow Italian escape. There’s a private pool for refreshing swims, a terrace with a barbecue and outdoor games for family fun. Inside, the rooms are set across two independent apartments – making this a great option for groups looking to stretch out and spend quality time together. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest amenities, while some of the most beautiful spots of Tuscany and Umbria are within easy reach. 

Forever Light

Located just outside Cetona in Tuscany, this picturesque home is the perfect place to find peace and tranquility amidst the region’s renowned rolling hills and forests. A renovated stone mill, its romance is clear the moment you step inside. From its beamed ceilings, traditional kitchen and bright study that leads out in the garden, this compact but comfortable villa feels like an intimate country hideaway made for the sole purpose of your relaxation. And then there’s the bedroom with its forest palette, green gothic headboard and access to the terrace. Wake up and head outside for your morning coffee under a shady oak tree, then while away the hours in the pool or discover the babbling brook just beyond the home’s canopy of trees. The medieval town of Cetona with its sandy-hued piazza and palazzo is also just five minutes away by car. After a day luxuriating by the pool or exploring the nearby sights, come back home for a glass of wine in the stone courtyard before enjoying an intimate meal beneath the stars. 


Alberi

A trip to rustic Tuscany is always a good idea – and staying in this beautiful home seals the deal. This gorgeous pale stone house is tucked just outside of the small town of Palazzone in the Tuscan countryside. Far-reaching views of the lush countryside of Tuscany and Umbria make for a magnificent backdrop, complementing the centuries-old trees, olive groves, and meadows that surround the home. This is an idyll, where the scent of lavender carries on the breeze. 

The garden is a haven of tranquillity and natural beauty. Float in the swimming pool while you watch bees bob around the flowers, the hum of insects the only sound to disturb the peace. Spend hours at the alfresco dining table, turning languid lunches into lively dinners as the sun sinks in the sky and the wine is poured more freely. 

When the Tuscan sun is at its strongest, shelter in the traditional living room, beneath wooden beams. The villa is cool and calm, with enough room for everyone to enjoy their own space. 

You might like to drive out to explore the region, popping into Palazzone to eat pizza in the much-loved restaurant. The town is famous for its wine production, and is a far offshoot of the Chianti region – you can happily spend an afternoon or two visiting the local vineyards and sampling the wine. Your host’s family produces their own wine and olive oil – add some freshly baked bread and local cheese, and you have the makings of a perfect lunch. 


Honey & Lavender

Escape to Tuscany with this cosy home, which has beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. For long lunches on the patio or picnics on the lawn, fire up the barbecue and grill some local produce. And when the Italian weather turns cooler, there’s a wood burner in the living room. The decor, we’d say, is simple and traditional throughout, but it has a rustic charm. Location-wise, the cottage is tucked away between the celebrated towns of Chiusi and Chianciano. Sarteano is also within driving distance, and Lake Trasimeno is around thirty minutes by car.

An Ancient Charm

In the wine-rich region of the Val d’Orcia, this villa looks out over tumbling hills and dense forests. It’s a UNESCO-protected landscape, and wandering the hiking trails through the hills around you, you’ll find Etruscan tombs – perhaps visit the Etruscan museum in Chiusi, a twenty-five-minute drive away. If you want to stock up on groceries or enjoy lunch in a medieval hilltop town, Sarteano is less than ten minutes drive away.

Perched atop a hill, you’ve got a panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside from the pool deck. Here, a shimmering turquoise pool invites you for a dip in the heat of the day. Various terraces and patios offer places to dine, recline and unwind, all with a stunning countryside view. Inside, it’s a feast for the eyes with original artwork worthy of the Ufizzi on display. There are a few different living rooms to choose from, allowing the group to spread out. Perhaps spend the evening by the striking modern fireplace, or in the sunroom overlooking the valley. If you manage to bag the master bedroom, there’s a sumptuous soaking tub set into the stonework. 

Rose of the Hills

With its elegant design, stunning views and luxurious details, this home will make you want to settle in and stay. Outside, enjoy blissful mornings by the pool and long lunches served on the shaded terrace. The house has plenty of character with its origins dating back to the 1500’s. But it also comes with a range of contemporary comforts – including an indoor gym, a splash pool, a billiard room and a wine cellar. Housekeeping is included in your stay and a welcome basket with aperitifs are provided for your arrival. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to Sarteano, Chiusi and Montepulciano. 

The Italian Serenade

After a day luxuriating in the sun or exploring Cetona’s piazzas and palazzos, enjoy cocktails in the garden before sitting down to an alfresco feast as you watch the evening sky change to shades of pink and gold.

Il Pozzo

You can't beat the views of the beautiful Val D'Orcia, itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site, from this Tuscan farmhouse lying in the Siena Province on a private two-acre estate. Tear yourself away from the vistas, and you'll find a deft renovation, combining contemporary interiors and historic charm. An excellent choice for a large group of friends or family, there's plenty of space to spill out and feel at home here. Cool off from the Tuscan sun in the infinity pool. Put to use the vast, chef-worthy kitchen (we're talking two dishwashers, two ovens, and some) for a big dinner party – a private chef is bookable for fine dining. Or keep things easy and fire up the barbecue or pizza oven outside as breath-taking views of the valley spread out before you –  best seen beneath the pergola at sunset with a glass of something chilled. And on chiller nights, hunker down beside the fireplace with a good book – there are two living rooms to choose from. When it's time to lay your head, hop in the home's elevator and take your pick from the many bedrooms, boasting king-sized beds and separate bathrooms. We'll let you decide who lucks out on that ground floor suite with bi-folds opening onto the lawned gardens. Should you ever wish to leave this idyll, you'll find you're in an excellent base to uncover Tuscany's vineyards and historic villages, starting in Sarteano, just a ten-minute drive away. With its tempting trattorias and beguiling historic charms, you'll be off to a flying start.

Little Hills

Formerly a 16th century convent, this enchanting villa is bursting with character and has been renovated with every comfort and enjoyment in mind. Step into the cool stone entrance hall and you will instantly note the attention to detail. There are two distinctive reception rooms, decorated with a curated selection of original furniture, paired with custom creations from local artisans and designer touches. The kitchen is fully stocked with high spec appliances, and the dining room is the perfect place for breakfast, with views of the rolling green olive groves out of the window. 

Outside, there are plenty of spots to relax in the sun and the shade, and there is no better way to start the day than plunging into the sparkling pool. There is also an indoor hydro massage pool to relax and unwind in after a day's activities. At sunset, gather everyone for an aperitivo under the pergola, whether it’s a negroni or a bottle of red from neighbouring Montepulciano, and fire up the barbecue for an al fresco dinner. There is a vegetable garden you are welcome to pick from. If you don’t fancy cooking, a private chef can be arranged to whip up Italian delicacies. The villa is on the outskirts of Sarteano, a tiny town with picturesque stone streets, a Mediaeval castle, and some excellent Tuscan restaurants. 

Villa Monastero

Built in the eighteenth century, this former farmhouse combines rural living with the best of the modern world. Boasting sweeping views of the Val D’Orcia from the infinity pool, we can’t imagine a more perfect place to hang out as the hot Italian sun makes its way across the horizon. Enjoy alfresco dining on the lush patio, fire up the pizza oven for an authentic Italian experience or prepare wonderful meals with ultra-fresh fruit and veg straight from the garden and the famous Chianti wine in the contemporary kitchen inside. Several living areas allow the group to spread out, and have all been immaculately styled and designed – think sleek fireplaces and dazzling modern art against white-wash wooden ceilings and exposed stone walls. Bedrooms are just as stylish and some come with direct garden access and luxurious free-standing tubs. If you want to keep on top of your fitness game, there’s a gym on the first floor with a glorious picture-frame window showing off the view of the rolling Tuscan hills. In terms of location, you’re a ten-minute drive from the beautiful Tuscan town of Sarteano with its red-roofed ancient buildings and crumbling castle. Chuisi with its local museums, winding streets and train station is just a twenty-minute drive too.
