This villa is nestled amid pine trees in a pretty spot on the coast. It offers the perfect blend of privacy and convenience, with Capoliveri only a five-minute drive away. The park-like garden surrounding the villa is also home to a small winery, and boasts direct access to a private beach – it’s a wonderful spot for taking a dip and watching the sun set each evening. Not many people know about the island of Elba's beautiful beaches and turquoise waters – even fewer know about this stunning home on the east coast. Hidden in 3000 sq metres of private parkland and just a short stroll from the Mediterranean sea, this place is an ode to the colour white. Built in 2019, everything is shiny and new. The bright, open living area flows easily out onto the patio and pool area, with several sets of French doors, while huge sliding doors in the upstairs kitchen open it up to a beautiful raised terrace – the best place to soak up your breathtaking surroundings. On the edge of the Costa dei Gabbiani Nature Reserve, you'll be surrounded by lush greenery but only a short drive from Capoliveri.

With direct access to Padulella Beach, this villa guarantees a memorable stay on the island of Elba. Outdoor living is encouraged here, thanks to the summer kitchen complete with a wood oven, infinity pool and a covered terrace overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. There’s a rustic approach to the interiors, which we find charming, and we love the sunken Jacuzzi in the main bedroom. Hiring a car is recommended if you fancy exploring the island – let your first stop be Portoferraio, a six-minute drive away.

We think it's pretty easy to see why we picked this home – just look at those views. Overlooking the bay of Nisporto, you'll have everything you need here for a slow-paced Italian escape. The interiors aren't the most exciting, but we like how the home is split across two self-contained apartments (connected by an external staircase), making it an excellent option for friends and families to holiday together while retaining some privacy. We imagine you'll spend most of your time on the terrace, but should you want to venture out, the beach is only 650m away, while the town of Portoferraio is a twenty-minute drive.

​​Restored by an Italian architect with a gentle touch, this villa has been updated and split into more modern apartments, but without ever compromising on the original charm. By honouring the villa's history – and thereby retaining its character – the home feels traditionally Tuscan with its terracotta tiles and wooden beams. Walk barefoot across the floors to savour the coolness of those tiles on hot days, or light a fire in the wood-burning stove and stare up at the beams, imagining what life would’ve been like here. Nonnas rolling out pastry for tortellini, children helping churn gelato, wine flowing, and bowls of food changing hands in a celebration of ingredients, and life. You might even wish to recreate that – a holiday well spent.

Alternatively, spend lazy afternoons sitting under the vines outside as you watch the sunset on the horizon. Head out to authentic Italian pizzerias for pizza and gnocchi, or make a gelato run before exploring the surroundings.

This charming apartment is nestled in the picture-perfect village of Suvereto. Cute and cosy, it's ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway, or a solo traveller who wants a tranquil base when exploring the wonders of Tuscany.

Step inside, and you'll find a gorgeous space that reflects its rustic location perfectly. There are plenty of traditional touches, from the exposed brick and wooden ceiling beams, to the distressed wood dining table. Pick up some local ingredients, and practice your Italian-style cooking in the kitchen – it's a homely space where you can whip up the perfect risotto. When you've finished eating and sipping some Pinot Grigio, you can get comfortable in the peaceful bedroom, for a restful night's sleep. 

Although petite, Suvereto is packed with cultural delights. Wander through the labyrinth of passageways dating back to the medieval era, and stop off in the family-run restaurants for delicious pasta and pizza. Don't miss the Aldobrandesca Fortress and the beautiful Romanesque church, both just a few minutes away from your front door. A twenty-minute drive will bring you to the Etruscan Coast, with its hidden coves and pinewood forests – so, whether you want to lie on a beach or take an invigorating hike through the woods, you'll be very happy here.

You'll find it in the little village of Brenna, just a forty-minute drive from Siena. Sitting on the first floor of an old honey-hued building, it impressed us with its exquisite interiors and awe-inspiring views. 

The interior combines rustic charm with contemporary comforts and, in true Tuscan style, is cloaked in a calming veil of warm earthy tones and natural textures. Step inside and discover a light-filled canvas of exposed brick walls, terracotta-tiled floors and lofty ceilings adorned with striking timber beams. We love the open-plan living area, a free-flowing space primed for relaxation with ample seating, a delightfully-equipped country kitchen and a majestic stone fireplace. Down the hall, three sumptuous sleeping quarters promise restful slumbers and, through timber-framed windows, postcard-worthy views of your glorious surroundings.

Outside, the peaceful shared courtyard, furnished with dining furniture and a hot tub, beckons you to unwind in the sun. Enjoy an alfresco breakfast here before a day of adventure. Take a stroll through the town, enjoy a morning swim in the Merse River, or hike through the wooded Alto Merse Nature Reserve, just twenty minutes away on foot.

In the undulating Tuscan countryside, this villa sits atop a hill, right on the ancient oil and wine route through olive groves and vineyards. It’s a fifteen-minute drive from Volterra, a medieval walled town with plenty of farm-to-table restaurants and old churches to explore. And Siena is just under an hour’s drive for a day trip.

Panoramic views take centre stage outdoors, where raised terraces can provide shaded spots for meals outside. From a poolside lounger, you can admire the forest-clad hills around you, before slipping into the turquoise pool to cool off from the sun. Aperitivo is best served on the first-floor terrace, where comfy seating looks out over the countryside.

The villa may have the stone facade and arched windows of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse, but the wall of glass in the living and dining room is a testament to the 21st century. There’s more than enough room for the group to spread out and dine together at two banquet-sized tables inside. Unwind beneath a brick vaulted ceiling in the evening. Chefs will feel right at home in the kitchen – all chrome and steel like the professional kitchens of a Michelin-starred restaurant, but with a wood-topped pasta-making table straight out of a 19th-century farmhouse.

Not far from Porto Ercole, this home makes the most of its coastal scenery. You'll be just 900 metres from the beach, and the views are downright blissful – they stretch across the sea to the island of Formiche di Burano. Everyone will appreciate the swimming pool, and the terrace makes the perfect spot for a nightcap as the sun goes down. Each bedroom has its own entrance, and the one on the lower ground floor is ideal for those who don't mind steps. When you're ready to explore, you'll find the small village of Ansedonia nearby, as well as Orbetello, which is a ten-minute drive away.

With its unfettered Tyrrhenian Sea views, manicured gardens and close proximity to the seaside, this homespun villa is a place for slowing down and switching off. Just outside the small hamlet of Iesa, the villa is nestled in the serene Tuscan hills, surrounded by verdant countryside. Downstairs you will find the original stone olive mill, alongside chestnut beams, exposed stone, and terracotta tiling across the house. This preserved charm is compounded by contemporary bathrooms, and a sunroom with floor to ceiling windows, where you can admire the oil painting of a view. On cooler nights, gather here with a drink in hand for a movie or to play some music. Outside there is a table which seats ten, for al fresco dinners before a spot of stargazing.  

No detail is spared here. From the food and drinks hamper waiting for you in the kitchen on arrival, laden with complimentary wine, olive oil, fruit and cooking supplies, to the range of activities available to book through your host, whether it be horse riding, a cooking class, or a cycling trip. There is no better area for lovers of nature and beauty. There are plenty of nearby hiking trails through untouched woodland, with panoramic vistas over the countryside. Hop in the car for fourteen minutes to reach Terme di Petriolo, famous natural hot springs set in a wooded valley. After a day of exploring, cool off in the enormous pool, before an aperitivo and a sunset barbecue. La dolce vita.

We particularly love the contemporary modular sofa, artistic lighting and Asian wall art that blends with the handmade wood and antique fireplace to create a well-balanced, zen space to relax after an explorative day driving up and down the winding hillside roads. Cook up a storm in the sleek kitchen, before tucking into a big group meal in the dining room with funky decorative details – like the wooden bookshelves and Asian-influenced objects. 

But while we adore the interiors, our favourite spot has to be down by the glistening pool. Whether you're enjoying an alfresco lunch on the covered terrace, cooling off with a quick dip in the pool, or enjoying an aperitif under the canopy, you'll be able to admire the incredible green vistas. 

When you're ready to explore, there's a host of charming hamlets and villages to discover, including Volterra and Pomarance – both less than thirty minutes' drive away.

Perched on the cliffs of Populonia, this home offers a picture-perfect Italian escape. Outside, you can soak in the stunning sea views while relaxing on the terrace. Inside, the rooms are simple, fresh and well suited to families in search of ease and comfort. Private parking is available and it’s just a short walk to the nearest restaurants as well as the the Borgo Tower, the Church and the promenade. You’ll also find the beach at Baratti is within easy reach.

This Suvereto apartment may be small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. Walls of exposed stone, sumptuous antique beds and ceilings adorned with wooden beams paint the picture of a traditional Tuscan holiday. Yet, in spite of the compact size, the kitchen and bathroom are sleek, stylish and modern, just the ticket for two. The window seat is our favourite spot – in the mornings, there's nothing better than enjoying an espresso as the smell of fresh-baked bread rises from the bakery below.

One of Tuscany's hidden gems, Suvereto is rife with old-world character – picture medieval walls, cobblestone streets and sidewalk cafes overlooking ancient churches. We love the laid-back pace of life here, but with vineyards, hiking trails and beaches like Spiaggia di Rimigliano all a short drive away, you'll be well-placed for exploring, too.

Situated a short drive outside the bustling medieval city of Siena, this villa offers a true escape in the Tuscan countryside. Originally constructed as a watchtower, its 12th-century exterior has been updated with a stunning glass pavilion that offers 270-degree views of rolling Tuscan hills covered in cypress trees and olive groves. Beyond the sliding doors, an oxygen-cleaned pool offers a relaxing spot to while away your days, with a counter-current swim machine if you're feeling active. And though it's technically capable of accommodating up to four people, it makes for a perfect romantic retreat for two.

This refurbished farmhouse is essentially two homes in one, perfect for two families travelling together. Both segments of the house have three bedrooms, each with direct access to the lush garden. In the living room, floor-to-ceiling windows lead out to the courtyard and lawns, where there’s a private pool and a pond – ideal for game fishing (provided that the fish is thrown back into the water). The interiors pay homage to the home’s initially intended purpose, as a clubhouse for horse riders to relax in, with paintings of horses adorning the walls, and furnishings that have an old-world charm. Despite the antique bed frames and Moroccan rugs, the home itself feels modern, particularly the suspended fireplace in the heart of the living room, and the sleek kitchen flanked by iron columns and picture-frame windows. Your neighbours are of the equine variety, and with stables next door, guests can book horseback riding lessons, and take a trail ride out on the iconic Tuscan landscape.

For a taste of authentic Tuscan living, this holiday home is a great choice. This apartment is one of six, renovated from a 15th-century structure by a historically conscious architect. The result of the renovation is an apartment that boasts classic Tuscan design with modern amenities and comfort – you can dine beneath wooden beams and stay cool thanks to the terracotta tiles. 

Outside, a pretty patio boasts a wood-fired pizza oven and alfresco seating. After a day spent in the sunshine, it’s delightful to sit in the shade of the trees and sip local wine while the aroma of pizza fills the air. 

This is a restful home on the outskirts of the village of Brenna, which is just five minutes away on foot. If you need to cool down, you might stroll five minutes to Stazione Balneare Merse where you can swim from the river beach. Of course, the apartment is also in a great location for exploring Tuscany, whether you fancy touring the vineyards or seeing the galleries and museums of the cities. It takes twenty minutes to drive to Siena, making it a perfect day trip.

It's in the middle of a sprawling estate, flanked by olive trees and grapevines, yet it's only one kilometre from Venturina Terme, so you're not completely out in the sticks. 

When you’re not lounging on the beaches of San Vincenzo, a ten-minute drive away, there's a private pool and Jacuzzi to cool off in, and the gorgeous patios and lawns can be transformed into the perfect Tuscan wedding venue. Period furniture and oak-panelled walls lined with oil portraits make it feel as though this place hasn't changed since the Grand Duke of Tuscany called it home.

This charming Tuscan farmhouse is located on a family farm in the Val di Cecina, surrounded by beautiful hill views. Built in 1883, the farmhouse has been lovingly renovated to retain historic features while adding modern comforts. It’s a peaceful home-from-home perfect for a large family group – children will love the play area and swimming pool. The garden is filled with rosemary, cypress, and oak trees, and features a delightful gazebo for dining outside – there’s a stone barbecue to cook on. If you don’t fancy cooking, the home-owner has a restaurant just 600 metres away.

This clifftop villa caught our eye for its views across the Tyrrhenian Sea. Located in the coastal town of Punta Ala, you’ll have direct access to the water, via steep private steps from the garden (the trek back up isn’t for the faint-hearted). There are two living rooms here (although the design may not be everyone's cup of tea), and all of the bedrooms are en-suite, so it’s a great option for a group. We love the outdoor spaces most of all – you’ll have a choice of spots to enjoy a morning espresso, alfresco lunch, or sundowner while admiring the panoramas. Location-wise, you'll find a beach, a golf course, and Punta Ala Marina all within a few minute's drive.

 If you're looking to experience a real taste of rural Italy, this villa located just outside of the small town of Bibbona is a Mediterranean dream come true. Set amidst six hectares of green parkland (one of which presents the villa's private garden), prepare to immerse yourself into an abundance of peace and serenity. 

A modern build, the home was finished back in 2002 and thanks to its high-quality finishings and construction techniques, it doesn't appear to have aged a day. Either that or like a new pair of Levi jeans – it's only getting better with age. Its interior welcomes modern lines and neutral colours in keeping with the tranquil setting outside in the garden.

Think olive trees, grassy lawns, and an array of Mediterranean flowers that stand elegantly in pots and flower beds dotted all around. Whether you're by the pool with an Aperol Spritz in hand, swinging in the hammock, playing a game of table football or doing a home workout on the gym equipment under the shaded pergola – enjoy the sweet smell of the perfumed air diffused with every light breeze. 

Positioned just 3 kilometres away from the villages of Casale Marittimo and Bibbona – make the most of the local conveniences, which are within easy reach by car.
