Hidden away in the Mugello valley, this home opens its doors to a secluded Tuscan retreat. Outside, the garden lends itself perfectly to blissful days by the pool. There’s a gazebo with a barbecue for alfresco dining and drinks. Inside, the rooms are ideal for families with plenty of space to stretch out and two of the bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms for privacy. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to the nearest amenities in Borgo San Lorenzo, while Florence is just 30 kilometres away. 



The Azzurra

If you’re after countryside views and peaceful surroundings, this villa in the Mugello valley certainly delivers. Dating back to the 18th century, it's kept plenty of its original character, with terracotta floors, wood-beamed ceilings, and a stone staircase. There's plenty of space to spread out, with two living rooms and two dining rooms. Outside, you’ll find tree-lined gardens, a private pool and a pergola, where you can dine while taking in sweeping views. You’ll need a car here, but local restaurants and the town of Vicchio are only minutes away, plus Florence and Bologna are within easy reach for daytrips.

Mugello Views

Set on a farm in Tuscany, this house blends rustic charms with a wealth of unforgettable experiences. Designed in classic Tuscan style, the stone walls house wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. You’ll have your own kitchen, as well as a private patio with an outdoor table and a barbecue, so you can enjoy languid alfresco lunches. 

The house is one of six rooms and casitas, and guests have access to a vast, crystalline pool that overlooks the rolling hills and vineyards. The farm produces its own Tuscan olive oil and honey, and there is even a top rated restaurant where you can sample some of the farm’s produce. Days can be spent riding the horses from the stable, exploring the area by E-bike, or taking a cookery class at the restaurant, where you might learn how to make fresh pasta or cantuccini. On more relaxed afternoons, treat yourself to a spa or beauty treatment – there is nothing more serene than a massage in the garden, with a gentle breeze and a soundtrack of cicadas.

You will easily fall into the laidback Italian way of life here, and will come away feeling inspired and rejuvenated.

Rustic Honey

With hosts who actually produce their own virgin olive oil, this stately villa simply radiates authenticity. The home is comprised of three individual stone cottages perched on the Tuscan hillside, located in the pretty village of Ciciana. You’ll be surrounded by the vast, untouched countryside – hiking trails nearby will acquaint you with local farm animals and horses. At the centre of the home is a pristine saltwater infinity pool, benefitting from panoramic views of the surrounding green plains and the medieval town of Lucca below. This home encourages outdoor living, with charming dining areas dotted around the garden – our favourite being the idyllic little lavender-draped corner, boasting stunning views down the hill. Dine al fresco long into the balmy summer evenings with a much larger eating space on the shaded terrace, equipped with reclining wooden chairs, an outdoor kitchen, and a barbecue. Tear apart the focaccia and devour a chilled glass of vino, socialising and playing games while the meat sizzles away. When you’re not indulging in the local delicacies, explore the cobblestone streets of Lucca at your feet, just a short drive down.

A Dash Of Olive Oil

Travel down the cypress-lined driveway of this home, surrounded by a centuries-old olive grove, and just take in the unfolding backdrop of the picturesque hills. We love the setting –it’s typically Tuscan. You can admire the stunning views from the terrace or the infinity-style private pool and revel in the tranquillity. Inside, you can enjoy more vistas from the split-level living and dining room, as well as from the bedrooms. Location-wise, you’ll find plenty of countryside walks on your doorstep, and the Etruscan Coast is also reachable by car.

Tuscan Valley Views

Just over an hour away by train from lively Bologna, Brisighella is a charming medieval village straight out of a storybook. With its hilltop clock tower, narrow alleyways and ancient walkway, it's the definition of picturesque. And this villa on the outskirts of town is the perfect place to take it all in. Consisting of the main house and a small annexe, everything here feels bright and welcoming. There's a touch of that rustic warmth you'd expect from a country home in the knotted beams and stone floor, but otherwise, the design is all old-world elegance – imagine wingback chairs, canopy beds and glittering chandeliers. Outside, the panoramic views of the Tuscan Apennines take centre stage. Whether you're sipping wine under the pergola, taking a dip in the pool or enjoying home-cooked meals in the fresh air, you'll have a front-row seat to spectacular sunsets and sweeping night skies. Trust us – you'll never want to leave.

La Favola

Nestled in the countryside, this home immerses you in a distinctly Tuscan way of life. Enjoy alfresco meals on the terrace overlooking the pool (including a feast of local specialties prepared by your host) and unwind among characteristic Tuscan greenery in the garden. Living quarters are split between the main house and an annexe, giving large groups plenty of space – but the upstairs sitting room in the main house is the place to socialise together, so put a record on, open the windows, and soak up the rural atmosphere. Pisa is within easy reach by car, but you might prefer to head to the coast at Livorno to sample the local seafood and wander the quaint canals.

The Antique Dwelling

Whether you're visiting Chianti for the peace, the nature, the hiking trails or the vineyards, this attractive two-storey stone house is the ideal spot for settling down. With panoramic views of the sprawling hilly countryside, you could easily spend your days out on the private terrace, enjoying a paperback or sampling some local wines. Inside, you'll find everything you need for a comfy stay, including a pleasantly large kitchen and dining area below two bright, high-ceilinged bedrooms. Should you wish to venture beyond the grounds, popular towns like Castellina in Chianti are easily accessible by car, while the storied city of Florence can be reached in under an hour.



Picturesque Embrace

An open space in a sixteenth-century building, in the hilly outskirts of Florence that, at time at times, has been both a stables and a nightclub, Thermae is one of the most spectacular places we’ve seen in Italy. Its restoration has been a labour of love for the host, Giovanni, and the way that he’s incorporated technology into the original structure is simply impressive. There’s too much to describe here, but know that everything's been taken care of. And if we did have to choose one thing that stood out, it might have to be the pool, hidden away in the vaults, and only accessible through a trapdoor.


Thermae

If you're looking for a rural escape, this is it: as far as the eye can see, this Tuscan stone cottage is surrounded by verdant countryside. Yet, you're just a short drive from Castellina in Chianti, a quintessential Tuscan village. Small groups will find privacy across the two independent, yet connected, living spaces – yet the garden is never far away, and there are lots of charming spots for sociable drinks or dinners (we recommend trying homemade pizzas in the brick pizza oven). The large terrace spaces partly make up for the lack of a fully private pool – though it's still a lovely spot to soak up the sun and rural atmosphere. No trip to Chianti would be complete without trying the wine, and you've got no shortage of estates nearby.

Etruscan Haven

Set among olive groves and cypress trees, this villa overlooks the rolling Tuscan countryside all the way to the medieval towers of San Gimignano. The style is contemporary country chic – think exposed beams, brick archways and warm, earthy colours. The living room is on the smaller side, but if it's relaxation you're after, there's a spa with a wood sauna, hammam, and jacuzzi, plus an outdoor infinity pool. Dining is best enjoyed on the terrace, soaking up those panoramic views. Fancy a change of scenery? There are villages to explore, local vineyards to visit and hiking trails winding through the surrounding hills.

Tuscan Dreamcatcher

Racers, start your engines and head straight to this Tuscan farmhouse for the ride of your life. A ten-minute drive from Mugello’s famous International Racing Circuit, this home is an ideal stay for motorsports fans and thrill-seekers alike. Of course, it’s not all about speed. If you’re taking your holiday at a more sedate pace, we think you’ll love lounging by the pool and exploring the olive groves and vineyards of the surrounding countryside. With traditional arched doorways, aged wooden beams, and beautiful antique furniture, there’s no doubt you’re in the romantic region of Tuscany. The indoor dining room with its oil paintings and long family-style table next to the old hearth could almost rival the outdoor dining under the vine-clad pergola. This is an Italian escape that’ll get your heart racing.
