Stepping outside, the home’s beautiful garden is an ideal sunbathing spot, while the sparkling swimming pool is perfect for cooling off from the midday heat. Find a cosy corner amid the plants to enjoy a cocktail at sundown, then head to the pergola, where an elegant dining table promises an unforgettable alfresco experience. If you can bear to leave your manor, the pretty town of Montepulciano is a short ten-minute drive away. Walk its winding streets and try the rare Vino Noble wine the region is so famous for.

Aglio e Olio

This home is just majestic as its stunning countryside surroundings. It's ideally located in a peaceful spot, nestled among the rolling hills of Umbria, just a short drive from the fascinating medieval town of Bevagna. Surrounding the villa sits groves of olive trees and lush green vineyards, with Mount Subasio creating a heavenly backdrop to the idyllic countryside views. These are best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand while relaxing by the infinity pool, or while dining at sunset on the covered terrace. The Olive Courtyard

This Tuscan farmhouse dates back to the 16th century. It’s been restored to maintain its historic charm, with a Leopoldine tower and the original stone and terracotta. The villa and annex – you won’t all be sleeping under the same roof here – sit within 2.6 hectares of parkland in the Tuscan countryside. Admire views of the town of Sinalunga from beside the swimming pool and in the oak-, olive-, and vine-filled garden. There’s an alfresco dining area in the shade of a pergola, with a barbecue and wood-fired stove to cook on. You can easily visit Montepulciano, Siena, and Florence from this rural Tuscan base.

A country road leads to the UNESCO hamlet of Castiglione d'Orcia. The garden is home to a rustic outdoor cooking station, a large, shaded table, and a full outdoor lounge. There’s a touch of modernity to the private, heated pool and you’ll find a sauna hidden amid the trees. The main villa is split across two levels and is a vision of old-world Italy and there is a separate annexe with further bedrooms, a second full kitchen and an open-plan living room. 

Rusticana Retreat

Every element of this home has been designed for rest and relaxation. There’s a picturesque pool, where you can admire the scenery as you swim or sunbathe, while inside you’ll find a smart bar area, perfect for relaxing with a glass of local wine. But the highlight has to be the private spa, which has a sauna, sensory showers, and a heated hydrotherapy pool. It’s all pretty blissful, and the location isn’t bad either. You’ll be a short drive from the medieval town of Montepulciano – best known for its red wine, which pairs perfectly with delicious Italian cuisine.

Vine & Earth

Tucked within the medieval walls of Monticchiello, this Tuscan flat makes for an authentic countryside escape. With terracotta tiles, wood-beamed ceilings and a cosy fireplace, the interiors feel warm and welcoming – while the private garden, complete with dining area and barbecue, invites sunny afternoons relaxing and sunset aperitivos. Plus, the location couldn’t be better – just steps from trattorias, artisan shops and sweeping views of rolling hills. Ethereal Tuscan View

Located just a stone's throw away from Serrapetrona, renowned for its Vernaccia red wine, this country home offers scenic views over the surrounding natural landscape. And with a private swimming pool, extensive gardens and patio terrace to call your own here, you'll find plenty of places to soak it all up. Inside, the home epitomises the quintessential Italian countryside, so while the interiors feel a little dated in parts, the home is filled with charm. Beyond the house, you'll need a car to explore the local area, or we suggest renting bicycles during the warmer months.  


Lemon Bouquet

Bookended by the olive groves, cypress trees and rolling green hills of Southern Tuscany is this 1960s-style architectural feat designed and curated by a sculptor and architect duo. Perfect for two couples or a small group of friends looking to explore the region, this cleverly converted warehouse is airy and open-plan with large crittall-style windows looking out over the vineyard and rambling countryside beyond. We particularly liked the stone fireplace and curated pieces of art dotted around that make for a real visual statement. Through to the bedrooms, where you'll find minimalist interiors, crisp white bed linens and antique objects that combines traditional touches with modern influence. Spend mornings idly relaxing underneath the warm Tuscan sun by the stunning 20-metre lap pool or recharging in the sauna, before cycling to the nearby village of Montisi. Take a half-hour drive to the famous vineyards of Montepulciano and bring a few bottles of vino back with you – to be chilled in the home's wine cellar and enjoyed out on the terrace, as you look out across the medieval ruins of Montelifrè Castle. Be it wine, history, interior design, or art, this home delivers in spades. 

Architectural Narrative

This Tuscan home is located in the picturesque village of Monticchiello. Comprising a manor house and separate cottage rented as one, it’s a great choice for a group getaway. The garden is the star attraction here, with its views of the Tuscan countryside. And if you want a relaxing start to the day, your host can provide breakfast to enjoy at the alfresco dining table. We love the exposed beams and brick archways, although the traditional decor may not be to everyone’s taste. Location-wise, you’re surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, with the historic city of Pienza just under 4 miles away.

Rolling Hills Retreat

Once the residence of a local noble lineage, this renovated country home provides a tranquil base for families and large groups. You'll find it nestled in verdant hillslopes, boasting five acres of lush landscaped gardens and panoramic views of the medieval town of Valfabbrica. Here, the famous Sentiero di San Francesco hiking trail is practically on your doorstep, while the beautiful towns of Perugia and Assisi are less than a thirty-minute drive away.

At first glance, this home charms with its rustic stone facade. Inside, it's all exposed beam ceilings, terracotta tiled floors and traditional furnishings. We especially love the country kitchen, fully equipped for home cooking and seamlessly connected to the lounge and dining room through wide, sweeping archways. After a restful slumber in the spacious sleeping quarters, fire up the Moka pot and enjoy espressos on the patio. 

Outside, expansive gardens offer ample space for relaxing in the sun. Spend your days catnapping on a sun lounger or tucking into a picnic amidst the foliage.
