Offering far-reaching sea views and situated just a short walk from the sandstone cliff-backed beach, this central Carvoeiro is superbly situated to make the most of a sun-soaked break to the breathtaking Algarve coast.

Wake up each morning to the sound of the waves lapping at the shore, as you sip a coffee on the spacious balcony out front and watch the town come to life around you. Step back through the sliding doors and you'll find a recently renovated living space and kitchen that is both casual and contemporary – the perfect match for your beachside setting. 

In the bedroom, an abundance of storage space helps maintain the relaxed minimalist style, while a vast super king-size bed guarantees a comfortable night's sleep. In addition, floor-to-ceiling sliding doors offer easy access to the balcony.

The former fishing village of Carvoeiro boasts one of the finest beaches along this picturesque stretch of the coast. However, there's more on offer than soaking up the sun on its golden sands. Those with a sense of adventure might like to embark on a boat trip to the magnificent Benagil cave. Alternatively, why not rise early and set out on the 12km out-and-back Sete Vales trail, with its spectacular clifftop coastal vistas.

La Petite Sardine

This lovely townhouse is a great choice for a relaxing break in Portugal. You’ll have multiple terraces to unwind on and can enjoy ocean views. The swimming pool is shared with nearby homes, but when you want to spread out more you can stroll to Praia Grande to kick back on the beach. You’ll also be close to the attractive fishing village of Ferragudo, where you can meander along the seafront and dine alfresco. This home is a little dated in places so it won’t suit those seeking a slick, modern abode, but it’s a comfortable base, and the outside space is a real treat. 

The Blossoming Bays

Situated on a resort, this one-bedroom townhouse offers up views of the countryside and Monchique mountains. Ideal for a couples retreat, you’ll find everything you need here, with the outside terraces a real treat – perfect for relaxing on with a glass of wine. With a communal pool, tennis courts, mini golf and an on-site restaurant, you won’t need to go far to entertain yourself in the Portuguese sun. If it’s the coast you seek, the beaches of Benagil and Marinha are just a short drive away.  

On the Sun

Set in a peaceful countryside location, this home offers a relaxing escape just a short drive from Praia Grande Beach. Designed to bring comfort and ease to daily living, guests can enjoy calm rooms, a private pool and a jacuzzi (available on request). There is also a large terrace with a pizza oven and barbecue, plus the indoor cinema and games room provide plenty of entertainment options for kids. Your host is on hand to help organise car rentals along with a range of extra services – including guided tours and excursions. 

Gold of the Sun

Effortlessly chic and perched high over the Atlantic Ocean, this home gets full marks from us. Not only is every inch beautifully decorated, but we adore the focus on sustainability – think solar panels, recycled materials and wastewater systems. The furniture (including the wardrobes) is constructed with repurposed wood, the plates and dishes made by local Portuguese craftsmen and the gorgeous white marble countertop is from Alentejo, so there's an emphasis on local products, too.

Besides its eco-credentials, we love how sleek this home is. Several elegant living spaces seamlessly flow into sophisticated terraces with plenty of comfortable seating and breathtaking views. Jump into the immaculate pool for a refreshing swim, then hang out on the sun loungers and revel in the fact that you don't need to do anything but relax. Come dinnertime, rustle up a meal in the bright kitchen and dine alfresco, watching the sunset over the water as you share a bottle of Portuguese wine. Sounds like heaven, right?

If you want to explore the area, nearby Carvoeiro has plenty of charming restaurants, bars and picturesque beaches. Praia da Marinha is a ten-minute drive, Praia da Benagi is reachable in thirteen, while the clifftop boardwalk and seaside eateries in town are just fifteen minutes away.

For What It’s Earth

If you're looking for some of Europe's finest beaches then this charming villa in the beautiful wine region of Caramujeira, just a short drive from Praia da Marinha and Praia de Benagil is right on the money. Inside, it's traditional and stylish. There's a considered use of homely touches, from the whicker decor and local photography to the antique urn and small stove fireplace, so you'll feel right at home from the get-go. 

Now, correct us if we're wrong, but summer in the Algarve is best spent outdoors. And, at this pretty villa, you'll have a choice of several outdoor sitting and dining areas to bask in the warm weather. While away sun-soaked afternoons in the hammock, sip poncha cocktails on the sun loungers, and fire up the barbecue in the outdoor kitchen for a lazy lunch on the shady terrace.

When it's time to head out, head to Benagil for hidden sea caves and picturesque hiking trails between the limestone cliffs, just a short drive from your doorstep. If you’d like to soak up the local history and culture, the lively village of Carvoeiro, where you'll find many feel-good eateries, boutique shops and hip bars, is just 5 kilometres away.

A Pretty Portuguese Dream

Seeking a restful holiday in a former fishing village? This home is ideal for those craving a real taste of the Algarve. While the bright interior is inviting, the outdoor living space makes this villa a winner. With several seating spots to choose from, you can sunbathe poolside or play ping pong as the barbecue sizzles. Vale de Centeanes beach is only 700 metres away, but Carvoeiro boasts lovely bars and restaurants. What's more, boat tours and thematic nights can be arranged for you.

The sleek sliding glass doors set up seamless indoor-outdoor living, bathing the home in natural sunlight. Stepping inside, you'll find a plush island kitchen with a sociable breakfast bar that means you can cook for your guests while chatting over a glass of wine. Traditional azulejo-tiled flooring and duck egg blue walls create a soothing space to relax, while the bedrooms are just as modern and peaceful – there's even a dedicated desk area for those working from home. 

When you're not working or simply basking in the blissful atmosphere of your sun-soaked terrace, head downstairs for a refreshing dip in the communal pool. Alternatively, keep up your weekly fitness routine with a swim in the resort's indoor pool or a workout in the well-equipped gym. Later, don your finest tennis whites on the shared courts as the sun goes down, before rustling up a grilled supper on the barbecue patio.

If you can peel yourself away from this light-filled apartment and the resort's fabulous amenities, take some time to discover the old port city of Portimão just a short drive away. As evening draws in, we recommend a trip to the old marina for dinner – you'll find a sprinkling of waterfront restaurants and cocktail bars lining the harbour.

This magnificent mansion is perched atop the cliff at Praia da Marinha, offering breathtaking views of the ocean and beach. You can walk to the beach straight from the garden when you fancy a dip in the sea – as a change from swimming in the private pool. The pool sits in lush gardens close to several terraces – there’s no shortage of outside space here so you won’t feel crowded even when you’re travelling with a large group. Inside, the villa is authentically Portuguese, blending vintage style with modern comfort. Everything you might need is to hand here, whether it’s a barbecue or a cosy wood-burning stove. 

Eternal Sea Views

Promising sea views over a leafy landscape, this villa is within walking distance of Armação de Pera's sandy shores, shops, and eateries. If you're not dining alfresco by the pool or playing table tennis after an adventure, this home offers a contemporary space for indoor hangouts, brightened by large-scale windows. There's also a roof terrace with a jacuzzi, available to book as an extra treat. As for exploring the Algarve, we recommend hiring a car to squeeze the most out of your time here.

The Green Horizon

Bursting with vibrant colour from the beautiful gardens surrounding this home, you’ll feel at ease as soon as you arrive. Our favourite spot was the outdoor space – it's the ideal place to relax for the duration of your stay. The private pool is the main attraction – just perfect for cooling down amidst the Portuguese heat. For those who could stretch out in the sun all day, the loungers allow you to do so – all you’ll need is a cool beverage in hand. As lunchtime rolls around, light the barbecue and indulge in a tasty snack on the wrap-around terrace, complete with countryside and sea views.

Inside, the home is full of traditional charm. In colder months, light the fire in the dining room for a cosy evening meal, tucking into a delicious home-cooked dinner as the fire casts a glow around the room. When you’re keen to explore, we’d recommend a trip to nearby Praia da Marinha beach – with glorious sunsets, it’s the most serene place to end the day.

Floral Burst

Enjoy some proper peace and serenity at this gorgeous apartment, situated in Carvoeiro in the Algarve. This beautiful home has plenty of space to spread out and sit back, with two outdoor terraces from which to soak up the sun, and features calming and muted interiors to leave you feeling truly relaxed. It's ideal for couples and small groups, and sits in a fantastic location to explore the region, with its gorgeous beaches and fun-loving atmosphere.

Start each day with a cup of coffee and enjoy it out on your terrace while you look out over views of the ocean. Head down to Praia do Paraíso, located just 50 metres away, and have a dip in the beautiful blue water or lie back and relax on the golden sand. Come back up to your central apartment and cool off from the hot sun with a refreshing outdoor shower, before making a pitcher of sangria and firing up the barbecue for a night of feasting. Retire inside when night falls and cosy up in the beds, ready to do it all again the next day.
