The Azure Terrace is situated in a house typical for the neighbourhood, which means that the outside (in stark contrast to the home itself) is a bit scruffy. The Azure Terrace is a home with all the features we want to see in a Lisbon Plum home – a private terrace, cute rustic design with lots of modern features and plenty of natural light. The abundance of fado shown in the vicinity is just a bonus.

If you fancy a stroll, head to the nearby Parque Eduardo VII – there are over 60 acres to explore. Naturally, with this location, you may hear some street noise during your stay. With a palatial façade, stunning minimalist interiors, and proximity to the poshest shopping street in Lisbon, Nova Inspirada packs quite a punch. But don't be fooled by the central location – this home is tucked away on a quiet street where you can relax on any of your many terraces, which includes the communal atrium. We tested this home in the winter, so the outside spaces don't look as appealing as they will in the summer, but the building itself hides the remains of a Roman settlement, so you'll be living and breathing history.

With unobstructed views of Alfama, Lisbon's charismatic medieval neighbourhood, this apartment will place you in the best location to explore the city's rich history. It's next to the Sé de Lisboa cathedral, so you won't have to walk far to see your first attraction. You're also no more than a five-minute walk to Baixa – the historical and geographical heart of the city – where you'll discover magnificent plazas, grand avenues and impressive Pombaline architecture. A timeless, rustic home with original azulejo tilework, antique wood-panelled walls, a standalone bath, and two reading nooks in the living room. There's hardly a corner in this home that couldn't feature in an interiors magazine as a prime example of rustic chic. The classical decor immediately had us in the mood to seek out another must-see/hear Lisbon experience, fado. You've got a few choices within a ten-minute walk, but the elegant Casa da Linhares stood out to us. Where better to listen to this mysterious and melancholic music while you dine on typically Portuguese dishes than in the foundation of an earthquake-ruined palace?

This beautiful apartment sits atop the highest of the seven hills of Lisbon, overlooking the sea of red-tiled roofs, in the historical neighbourhood of Graça. You're surrounded by an area steeped in history, starting right at home in this apartment, which was built back in 1920. 

Cloaked in rich tapestry and quirky decor, this home has an undeniable air of splendour. We particularly love the regal piano, calling you for late-night sing-along sessions. But when you step into the kitchen, you'll see how homely and inviting this apartment is, with its colourful tiles and huge dining table fit for family dinners of laughs, drinks, and old stories. It's one that's built to be cooked in, and in this beautiful, well-equipped kitchen, you'll be glad to do so. It also gives you a sneak peek of the jaw-dropping beauty that's outside, the pièce de résistance of this home – the balcony. 

You can step right out onto the balcony from the kitchen and living room, and there's even a smaller one that can be accessed from both bedrooms. From the main balcony, you're treated to one of the best views in all of Lisbon, it's even good enough to rival the nearby Senhora do Monte viewpoint. You'll love spending lazy mornings sipping on coffee, looking out at the view, and feeling the glow of the morning sun on your face, before heading out to explore Lisbon.

Inside, the hosts have injected some serious personality and style into this home. Statement lighting and feature walls add interest, while colourful ceramics remind you Lisbon's streets aren't far away. 

Friends or family sharing will love how spread apart the bedrooms feel for added privacy, and there's heaps of space in the living areas. Or head to Praça do Comércio with its harbour-facing square, a twenty-minute stroll away. The immediate area isn't super touristy but feels more authentic and quiet, which is something we always like. Back at this stylish apartment, take a seat on the comfy sofa and rest your feet after all that retail therapy or get some fresh air on the balcony. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay –  we particularly love the vintage furniture scattered throughout the house, as well as the gorgeous marble-style bathrooms. With this home, you can really live like a Lisboeta.

If you're looking for an apartment with incredible views of Lisbon, you've hit the jackpot here. Located in the historical neighbourhood of Mouraria, this beautiful home has three balconies to gaze at the view of the city's hills, carpeted in red-tiled roofs. 

We love the grand touches to this home. The high ceilings, gallery white walls, ornate decor, and especially the patio doors and large windows. The natural light pours into the home, while the window on either side of the living room offers a sneak peek of what's to come when you venture out into the city.

If you like to experience a city like a local, you'll love it in Mouraria. It's very close to Baixa, which is the beating heart of Lisbon, yet it's tucked away on a quiet hill of narrow streets and small squares. You can't visit Lisbon without going to a traditional Fado house and swaying to the uniquely Portuguese soulful tunes. Mouraria is actually the birthplace of Fado music and teeming with little local spots. Be sure to make it home for sunset. Nothing beats sipping a glass of wine on your balcony, watching as the city line begins to sparkle in the darkness.

This apartment might be modern, but the view is all old-world Lisbon. Inside, the living room feels like a 60s entertainer’s paradise, with velvet sofas, gallery-white walls and curious sculptures lining the room. A twenty-minute stroll sees you in the winding, cobbled streets of Alfama, crowned with a castle, or the grand streets of Baixa packed with local restaurants and bars.

Perfect for romantic getaways or business trips, this stylish apartment places you in one of Lisbon's trendiest spots. Here, you can balance work and play, as the open-concept design boasts a flowy space to settle into. We love that it's pet-friendly, too. While we're sure you'll enjoy the bonus of the on-site communal pool, there are two balconies for private sunset-watching. Cool bars and restaurants await within strolling distance. Plus, the free parking spot puts car journeys on the cards.

The metro and iconic Tram 28 station are close by so it’s easy to explore this wonderful city. Several of Lisbon's main attractions are nearby too, including the historic Castelo de S. Jorge. The apartment itself is housed in a characterful blue-hued building, and unusually for an older building, it has a lift. Inside, you’ll find elegant light-filled interiors and several balconies to enjoy the views over Lisbon’s rooftops and beyond.

Tucked away inside a typical Lisbon townhouse, this cute and characterful space is a delightful surprise. With a wooden Pombaline frame that transforms the communal area into a library, this home is an excellent option for an avid reader – the outdoor balcony will win over the rest with gorgeous views of the nearby botanical garden. While most visitors flock to the likes of Alfama and Bairro Alto, this stunning apartment is located in the heart of Principe Real. Admittedly, it's further away from the historical city centre, but its pastel-coloured mansion apartments and wide boulevards provide it with a charm all of its own. You'll find the enchanting ten-acre Jardim Botânico de Lisboa and the lush Jardim do Príncipe Real within a five-minute walk. While your capable kitchen can handle anything you can throw at/over it, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to local eateries – it's a veritable foodie heaven. Choose to chow down at A Cevicheria, where you can indulge in a light and zesty menu of citrus-cured fish and mouth-puckering pisco sours. Alternatively, Atalho Real plates up melt-in-the-mouth meat in a relaxed environment. Once you've eaten your fill, there's a tempting choice of local bars where you can keep the party going – Pavilhão Chinês serves imaginative long drinks in an old grocery store packed with flea market finds and bric-a-brac. At the same time, cult favourite Foxtrot might be reminiscent of a good old British pub, but the creative cocktail menu promises so much more.

If you like a spot of shopping followed by lunch (who doesn't?), then this home near Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon's answer to the Champs Élysées, is within walking distance. Here, you'll find plenty of boutiques, bars and restaurants, and the Praça dos Restauradores is nearby, too. We love this home's small balcony with its views over the area's rooftops. And while the kitchen is compact, there's everything you need to make some Portuguese cuisine. One thing we must mention, though, is two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room at full capacity.

Found in a bold residential building in the historical heart of Graça, this apartment goes down a treat with families or groups of friends wanting to explore Lisbon's vibrant culture. Minutes away from the beautiful Cathedral and surrounded by restaurants and cafes, it's only a ten-minute walk to Martim Moniz, where public transport can zip you across the city. A city, which coincidentally, you can see quite well from the apartment's panoramic views – it helps that the building is perched on one of Graça's highest hills. Bright, cosy, and with a central location? We think yes.

A room with a view – yes please. This apartment is based in the historic Graça district, close to the Senhora do Monte viewpoint. Its elevated position means that it boasts a glorious view of Lisbon, which can be enjoyed on the petite but charming balcony. The rest of the apartment is on the small side too, but with so much to explore from your doorstep, you’re not likely to want to spend too long inside anyway. Most of Lisbon’s must-visit sights are within walking distance, so pack comfy shoes.

Larousse is quite a particular home with a unique structure that's hard to find in Lisbon.  The modern minimalist furniture works well with the traditional bare bones of this typical townhouse, creating a pleasant communal area that includes a sociable kitchen. The second bedroom is located on the mezzanine and it isn't well separated from the communal area – it will only suit those who can get up the steep stairs and appreciate the open space. But you'll get to enjoy a great view and a location that will get you close to the sights and the best shops in town.

This bright apartment with its high ceilings, solid wood floors and pops of turquoise feels just like home. You’ll start your mornings at the dining table, washing down sweet Portuguese pastries with an espresso or two, before watching the bustle of Restauradores Square from your Juliet balcony. Fall back onto the sofa and nestle among the plump cushions with a good book until you feel ready to explore your surroundings. 

Begin with a trip to the Carmo Convent, just a short walk away, then make your way down to Rua Augusta for a spot of shopping. Watch the boats pootle along the Tagus River from Praça do Comércio or mosey over to Alfama for its rabbit warren of becos lined with no-nonsense eateries. Grab a table at the Portas do Sol viewpoint come sunset for glorious pastel skies above shambling terracotta rooftops.

Rua de São José is famous for its opulent design boutiques, as well as upscale restaurants and bars that make this street a perfect day out for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Solar has excellent natural light and it's obvious that it's been designed by an architect – the azulejo details give subtle, yet frequent nods to traditional Portuguese design. Although we'd love to see some more artwork on the walls, this home does an excellent job of mixing several different stone textures that give each room a distinct character.

Located on Praça dos Restauradores – a beautiful landmark in its own right – this bright home lets you sightsee from the comfort of your living room. A peak out of the window grants you views of a number of the city's most iconic buildings, including the ornate Palacio Foz directly opposite. This home has been put together with care and attention to detail. The furniture is minimalist, and together with the comfortable sofa, it creates a clean look, complimenting the abundance of natural light. Nearby you'll find a number of the city's best independent boutiques, as well as international names. A couple of standouts include Livraria Bertrand – the oldest book shop in the world is a ten-minute walk away – and the elegant Brasileira cafe is an eight-minute walk. Just round the corner, you'll find the atmospheric Rossio Square – a hangout spot for locals and visitors alike.

Lisbon is having a moment right now. The beating heart of Portugal, this glossy tile-lined city boasts glittering sea views, a rich history and a mouth-watering foodie culture. Hours and hours can be spent wandering the narrow, cobbled streets, hopping on and off trams, sipping port in the street and clutching warm pastéis de nata in brown paper bags. This recently renovated apartment could not be more perfectly placed. Situated in a 100-year-old building, with the 11th century Castelo de São Jorge as your neighbour, it offers an interior that's streamlined and functional, enriched by little historical features an expert's eye can immediately pick out – there’s even Portuguese marble in the bathroom. We really love the sunny terrace with views of the castle – take a hot coffee out here and watch the world go by.

It's impossible to talk about Evaristo's Cauldron without first mentioning the lovely host Susana, who lives in the same building and treats all guests as if they were old friends. Located in Principe Real, this home is close to all central attractions, but the immediate surroundings are fairly quiet. Even though this home is located in an old building, both the exterior and interior are impeccable. Evaristo's Cauldron preserves traditional Portuguese architectural features while ensuring that this home is comfortable, functional, and designed with a mixture of old and new chic.

Located just 15 minutes outside of the bustling city centre, this apartment is a perfect romantic retreat. The expansive terrace is ideal for starting your morning with a mindful yoga session, before taking a short stroll to the Praça Marquês de Pombal and the Parque Eduardo VII to enjoy the sights. Use the sightseeing buses to explore the city, or wander down the Avenida da Liberdade towards Baixa-Chiado, where you'll find a selection of cafes and bakeries for breakfast and lunch. Admire the neoclassical architecture and shop along the boutique-lined Rua Augusta where artists and artisans peddle their wares. Or hop on the Elevador de Santa Justa and make the vertical 47-metre journey to enjoy spectacular views of the city – it’s a bit of a cliché, but some things are clichéd for a reason.

The iconic Lisbon Cathedral is a thirty-minute walk away, but there are plenty of restaurants and cafes along the way to make a pit stop, or two, at. This building has lived a few lives since it was built in the 1940s. It was designed by the renowned Portuguese architect Manuel Norte Júnior, before being used as a garage for storing car parts. After lying unoccupied for a decade, it was then lovingly restored with a focus on high end furniture and plenty of colourful touches. We particularly enjoyed the huge terrace – not only does it come with a stylish bar where you can mix cocktails, but there’s also plenty of space for alfresco dining and spending time with your loved ones. You'll also find a unique stained glass window in the kitchen, which makes the ideal spot for enjoying morning coffee. Although it's a little out of Lisbon's city centre, the surrounding Saldanha neighborhood has plenty of local restaurants and you can walk to the downtown riverfront area in forty minutes.

Flight of Fancy

Housed in an 18th-century building just ​​seconds from Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon, this beautifully bright home is a stylish, comfortable base from which to explore the city’s most iconic sights. With its Juliet balconies, frescoed walls and laid-back contemporary furnishings, there’s a feeling of history blended with a modern minimalism that feels effortlessly Portuguese. We love the kitchen’s stone sink and the sunny dining area that invites breakfasts over fresh coffee and pastéis de nata, while the bedroom is pared-back and elegant with its Juliet balcony proffering red rooftop views. With a lovely desk space at your disposal too, there will be no shortage of inspiration should business call, though, with countless things to see and do on your doorstep, we suggest less work and more play when you can. Speaking of sightseeing, the Santa Justa Lift is just a seven-minute walk away, São Jorge Castle is walkable in fifteen, while Praça do Comércio is thirteen minutes away on foot. 


Linda Avenida

Located in Lisbon’s historic Graça district, you’re in a prime location to explore the capital. The apartment sleeps up to four people, though some parts are a bit of a tight squeeze and the kitchen is probably better suited to lighter meals – but with a plethora of eateries and sights on your doorstep, we figure you’ll be spending most of your time exploring. Start your day at the Senhora do Monte viewpoint, located right next to the apartment. From here you can walk onto Castelo de S. Jorge – stopping off for some obligatory pastel de nata on your way.

Although this home was built with functionality in mind, we found plenty to love about The Writer's Corne beyond its on-point location in Lisbon. Nestled in one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in Lisbon, Mouraria's narrow and colourful streets will show you a different side of the capital. Minimal interiors, soft furnishings and a laid-back design aesthetic give way to lots of natural light flooding through the space.  At the edge of the dining area, there's a great little spot with a chair and desk, flooded with light – perfect for writing your travel memoir or remote working. With the master bedroom featuring its own en-suite bathroom, leaving the main bathroom for the other guests - this home truly is the perfect spot for a small group of friends who want to lap up Lisbon with pure ease and comfort. For days of downtime and relaxation, make the most of the resident-only terrace and infinity pool that offers a breathtaking view of the historic São Jorge Castle. Head to the stunning Jardim da Cerca da Graça park, only a four-minute walk away for a coffee with some fresh air, before weaving in and out of the quaint streets of Mouraria or hopping on the tramway to venture further afield. 

The Writer's Corner

Just steps away from one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints over the city, on the top of the highest of Lisbon's seven hills, this beautiful three-bedroom apartment is the perfect package for a family or group of friends looking to experience the best of the city away from the flocks of tourists in Alfama and Baixa. 

Of course, those areas attract visitors for a reason, and you're well within a ten-to-twenty-five minute walk of most of the city's headline attractions, including Sé de Lisboa, Praça do Comercio and Convento do Carmo. However, for an authentic taste of Lisbon, there are plenty of classic cafes and local restaurants closer to home that will charge you a lot less by dint of not being in the centre.

Once you're inside the apartment, you'll be greeted by a stunning open-plan space with a bench seating area, a six-seater dining table and a sleek wooden kitchen. A polished concrete floor only adds to the contemporary aesthetic, while the balcony offers a partial panorama over the city. Elsewhere, three individually decorated bedrooms (including one en-suite) provide serene surroundings to unwind at the end of a busy day.


Seven Hills

Though its design is evocative of Indonesia’s lush beaches, this spectacularly bright home is a vision of Portuguese prettiness. Wood floors, pristine white walls and a boho-chic collection of ornaments create a dazzling welcome in the open-plan living room with French doors giving way to Juliet balconies that allow ample light to pour in. We love the reading nook framed by tall shelves – the ideal spot to chill out while grooving to some records – as well as the round dining table that invites Portuguese feasts aplenty. Step through to the sleek kitchen and open up its doors to be greeted by a large terrace equipped with a dining set and sun chairs. Start mornings here with coffee while basking in the Lisbon sun or watch the sunset over the rooftops over a glass of wine. The two bedrooms, meanwhile, are relaxing retreats you’ll relish falling asleep in – we’re particularly fond of the master bedroom’s canopy bed and the second bedroom's sunny desk space. With an additional office space with access to the master bedroom and terrace, you’ve got everything you need for a comfortable, relaxing stay whether you’re here for business or pleasure. Outside of your home, you’ve got plenty to see and do, including taking strolls through Parque Eduardo VII (a fifteen-minute walk), shopping along Avenida da Liberdade (also a fifteen-minute walk) and discovering the historic beauty of the Alfama district, thirty minutes away on foot.

This stylish apartment is located in the Lisbon neighbourhood of Arroios. One of the bedrooms has its own en-suite, and there are bathtubs in both bathrooms for unwinding after a long day. The open-plan living area has a dedicated workspace, making this home ideal for business trips, and the kitchen is well-equipped for family meals or experimenting with local dishes. The central location does mean you might hear some outside noise, but you'll find several shops and restaurants close by and public transport is nearby if you don't drive. If you do drive though, you'll have a parking spot here for extra convenience.
