Located in a historical building in Picoas, which was designed by the esteemed Modernist architect Cassiano Branco, Mind Garden is a unique home. While the furniture is quite unobtrusive, the bare architectural bones take centre stage, expressing themselves most obviously in the dining pavilion. Natural light will never be a problem in this home, but taller guests might not appreciate the sloping ceilings in the communal area. While the streets of Picoas aren't as central as Baixa, they are extremely well-connected to the riverside while maintaining a local flavour.

This building has lived a few lives since it was built in the 1940s. It was designed by the renowned Portuguese architect Manuel Norte Júnior, before being used as a garage for storing car parts. After lying unoccupied for a decade, it was then lovingly restored with a focus on high end furniture and plenty of colourful touches. We particularly enjoyed the huge terrace – not only does it come with a stylish bar where you can mix cocktails, but there’s also plenty of space for alfresco dining and spending time with your loved ones. You'll also find a unique stained glass window in the kitchen, which makes the ideal spot for enjoying morning coffee. Although it's a little out of Lisbon's city centre, the surrounding Saldanha neighborhood has plenty of local restaurants and you can walk to the downtown riverfront area in forty minutes.

Flight of Fancy

This chic hideaway is in Campo Pequeno – a neighbourhood just outside the centre of Lisbon where locals flock to enjoy the laid-back nightlife and grand shopping streets. If you're looking to do some sightseeing, the city centre is just a quick trip away on the metro. The stylish, open-plan living area includes a fully-equipped kitchen and dining spot. For those who need to work remotely, a dedicated laptop desk is provided in the bedroom. Guests can also enjoy access to the building's rooftop terrace, complete with comfortable lounge furniture for a tipple or two outside.

Nestled in lively central Lisbon, this apartment is great for a stay in the city. The kitchen is well-equipped for family dinners or culinary experiments, and pets are welcome for an additional fee. One of the bedrooms has access to a balcony with space to sit out and enjoy a drink – it won't feel fully private thanks to the surrounding buildings, but it's a lovely little spot. While there is the potential for some outside noise due to the central location, you'll be close to Lisbon's Edward VII Park and there's a range of restaurants right on your doorstep, along with a few shops for essentials and public transport for traversing the city.

It's worth noting this home has no outdoor space, though there are three parks, including the mighty Eduardo VII Park, just a stroll away.
