This smart studio apartment places you right in the heart of Porto. Perfect for solo travellers, couples, or even tiny families, it's a great spot to kick back and relax between your adventures in the vibrant city. 

You'll fall in love with the traditional building at first sight, with its charming tiles and intricate windows. Inside, the open-plan set-up makes the most of the space – it's quite petite, but has everything you need for a successful stay. Pick up some fresh ingredients from the nearby Mercado do Bolhão, open a bottle of local port, and enjoy a fabulous night in as you make some plans for your stay. 

From here, you can easily walk to Porto's famous churches, including the blue-tiled Igreja de Santo Ildefonso and the baroque Igreja do Carmo. Book lovers can take a stroll over to the famous Livraria Lello, and pick out a great novel in the historic store. And, if you wander a bit further, you'll find yourself at the bustling waterfront, where you can admire the city's famous bridges and beautiful views over the Duoro River. 

The Jigsaw Puzzle

Located on the iconic Rua do Almada, this apartment in downtown Porto has a great address. It’s within walking distance of many attractions, such as Mercado do Bolhão and the Chapel of Souls, with its azulejo tiled façade. Being in the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage City, expect to hear some street noise during your stay, though. If you’re here on business, there’s a desk in the bedroom (there’s only one bedroom here – guests three and four will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the open-plan living space).

And when it’s time to get some rest, the no-nonsense bedroom guarantees a deep slumber night after night.

Set in the lush grounds of Canto De Luz, one of Porto's most loved Boutique Hotels, this luxury eco-villa is a modern architectural marvel. A stay here is the best of both worlds – 5-star hotel luxury (breakfast is served in the hotel’s orangery or your garden every morning, and there’s a daily housekeeping service) combined with the privacy of your own villa. The villa’s interior is contemporary cool with wooden floors, Scandi-style furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the rooms with light. Lovely as it is, you’ll spend most of your time outdoors in the beautifully landscaped garden, complete with private saltwater pool and an in-water lounge area that’s perfect for little guests. In the heart of the old town in a quiet cobbled street, the location couldn’t be better either. Spend your days exploring Porto’s historic centre, riverfront, and quirky antique shops and cafes. In the evenings, you’re spoilt for choice, with a wealth of restaurants on your doorstep. Enjoy a delicious meal in the balmy night air, before strolling back for a nightcap or port (what else?) on the terrace. 

Villa Almada

You’ll find this bright two-bedroom apartment in the historic city of Porto. The interiors are contemporary and clean, and while the second bedroom may feel a little small – you’ll likely be spending most of your time exploring the city. Located nearby the city's famous landlords – including the Bolhao Market, Santa Catarina Street, Aliados Avenue, and the river – you can easily discover Porto on foot. For those looking to explore further afield –  take the metro at the nearby Trindade station – a five-minute walk from the apartment – and travel across the city at your leisure.


Trindade Time Out

To find a home this pretty and right in the beating heart of Porto, well, that’s special. But to bag a place with an all-too-rare outdoor terrace too? Then you’re onto a winner.

Inside, while this apartment is studio living, we think it’s expertly formed and feels surprisingly spacious. The designers knew what they were doing here, with earthy textures, warm wooden hues, and pops of botanical greens fusing beautifully.

Over in the made-for-action kitchen, there’s everything you could need to rustle up a bite to eat. And don’t get us started on the bedroom area with charming views over the terrace to the lofty palm trees and blue skies beyond.

Sunny mornings call for breakfast and freshly brewed coffees on the veranda as you hatch plans for the day ahead. And you won’t have far to go when it’s time to get out and about. 

Lose yourself in the city’s alley-woven historic heart brimming with boutiques, including the neo-Gothic, Livraria Lello (twelve minutes on foot) – the bookshop was a source of inspiration for the Harry Potter books, we hear. Grab a sunny spot for a bite to eat at one of the many Petiscarias (that’s Portuguese-style tapas bars to us). Then enjoy a post-lunch hazy walk along the banks of the Douro River (nineteen minutes on foot). Or hop on the Trindade metro station (a four-minute walk away) to discover further-flung corners of this opulent city.  

Super Naturals

Style and practicality go hand-in-hand at this Lapa district apartment designed by the famed architect Siza Vieira. Each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, and there’s a twin bedroom tailor-made for little ones. It’s worth noting the Metro overground runs close to this home – handy for getting about the city, but the passing trains may take some getting used to. But for a home this central, that’s all par of the course.

Vieira's Place

Just north of Porto’s historic old town, where ornate architecture overwhelms your senses in the most delightful way, this apartment offers a more relaxed and modern way of life. Although it’s just a nine-minute walk from the gilded ceilings of the Livraria Lello and the chiming bells of Clérigos church, this home lets you savour rare moments of tranquility and zen in this vibrant city.

The understated interiors of this duplex apartment feel more Scandi than Portuguese, with an angular sofa, soft marl grey rug, and the gentle tones of pastel art on the walls. With white walls and pale wooden floors to elongate the space, your lounge is a perfectly airy spot for reclining with a bottle of Duoro following an afternoon of sightseeing. But if the sun's still shining, why not take your glass to the alfresco dining table on your private balconette? Or better still, down to the resident’s garden where a lush lawn awaits.

Now, we did say that this home would help you relax – but your host goes the extra mile to make you feel pampered. With the generous offer of grocery deliveries, activity planning, and even a knock on your door every morning with a fresh breakfast in tow, they really know how to treat their guests.

Touriga Franca

Located in Porto’s cultural heart, Boavista, this stylish apartment is an idyllic base for solo travellers or couples seeking artistic exploration. 

This apartment is calm and bright, thanks to its expanse of glass doors opening up to a sky-grazing balcony, as well as its cool colour palette and minimalist furnishings. Spend mornings on the balcony with a Nespresso coffee and pastel de nata or gather around the glass-topped table for a light breakfast as the morning sun strikes - your host is happy to arrange breakfast if you so wish. If you can peel yourself away from your breezy oasis, the vibrant neighbourhood has you covered for a sight-filled day.

Whether you’re interested in a concert this trip or not, Rem Koolhaas’s Casa da Música is worth a visit - especially since it’s only six minutes from your apartment. We think lunch is well spent at Cufra - their francesinha sandwich, made with sausage, steak, cheese and spicy sauce, is a solid contender for Porto’s best. Spend the afternoon exploring one of the world’s top art institutions, Fundação Serralves or marvel at the lavish fountains and sea views from Jardim do Passeio Alegre.

Situated close to Porto’s historical centre, this cosy apartment offers an ideal base from which to explore the city. Sure, it’s not the biggest, but it’s comfortable for two and is perfect for a couples retreat. For a quiet night in, the kitchenette has all the basics needed to whip up a meal, which, we think, is best enjoyed on the communal terrace under the Portuguese sun. If you don’t feel like cooking, this home’s enviable location has you near a whole host of restaurants, so sampling some local cuisine washed down with a glass of port is always on the menu.

This minimalist home is in the heart of Porto, just a fifteen-minute walk from the narrow, bar-filled streets of Ribeira and the grand Avenida dos Aliados. Not many duplexes boast their own private garden in the city centre. This one has a secluded sunny lawn and patio, surrounded by stone walls for the utmost privacy. It’s the perfect spot for a drop of the city’s famed port wine at sunset. Inside, the open-plan kitchen, dining and living room has tall traditional windows letting in tons of natural light. Soft greys and pinks set a cool, calm atmosphere. There’s a separate sitting room with a dedicated remote workspace, should you need to catch up on emails. Bedrooms are housed in thick white stone walls typical of Portuguese design, keeping things cool in summer and cosy in the colder months.
