This place caught our eye for its waterfront location. Situated on the banks of the Douro River in Porto, Portugal’s second biggest city, you’re perfectly placed to enjoy relaxing walks along the riverside. The surrounding area is steeped in history with narrow, cobbled streets, merchants’ houses and iconic bridges, and the city centre is just 2km away. You’ll have access to a shared swimming pool that’s open all year round, as well as a shared garden and a restaurant. Most of the apartments offer river views but as your host operates several apartments here, the exact view may differ from the photos.

Sometimes a home makes such an impression on us that we’re willing to look past a few flaws, simply because the rest is worth it. Ruby Port is one such home. Honestly, the maintenance needs a bit of work, and the terraces need tidying up, but the place is just so special. From the spectacular views of the Douro River to the beautiful azulejo tiles and the stone fireplace, it has a distinct soul and Porto charm that we simply can't get enough of – it feels like the kind of place we could spend a long time in. Whether you're drinking a chilled glass of Porto wine from the spacious terrace, taking a dip in the private pool or even washing up in the shower, you'll be able to appreciate the lovely views over the water. Inside, light pours in through the patio doors, creating a bright and airy living space to relax. Full of cream furnishings and neutral tones, it's a homely apartment too. Step outside of the building and be in the heart of Porto, and yet you'll find the immediate neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. Walk to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal and Museum Soares dos Reis in under ten minutes. If you’re travelling by car, your host can help arrange parking nearby for an additional fee, along with a range of extra services – including breakfast and grocery deliveries. There is a sofa bed in the living room for two guests, plus one of the bedrooms includes a little balcony. It’s also a great option for remote workers with plenty of desk space.

The chic living space has warm wooden floors and mid-century style furniture. Rustle up a Porto staple, the substantial francesinha sandwich in the modern kitchen. Or there are plenty of restaurants and cafes on your doorstep if you don't fancy cooking. 

There are many attractions nearby too. Head to Livraria Lello, one of the world's most beautiful bookstores, under a fifteen-minute stroll away. Porto Cathedral and Bolhão Market are both a twenty-five-minute walk. Or, lovers of sculpture can visit the Soares dos Reis National Museum, eight minutes on foot.

Situated right where the River Douro meets the Atlantic Ocean, this stylish apartment offers spectacular views and plenty of living space. Two balconies grant you the opportunity to relax in the sun – the one off the main bedroom is perfect for morning cups of coffee, while the downstairs balcony is ideal for cocktails as the evening draws to a close. Floor-to-ceiling windows show off the scenery all day long, a sleek kitchen makes rustling up meals a breeze and a cosy sofa is a perfect spot to kick back and relax after a busy day exploring. Our favourite room is the main bedroom. As well as the private balcony, it has all the bells and whistles you'd want – blackout blinds, built-in Bluetooth speakers and a lavish rainfall shower in the en-suite. 

When you're ready to explore, both the 1 and 18 trams run right past the home, so you'll have no problem getting to and from Porto's bustling city centre. That said, Foz do Douro isn't lacking in activities, either. Sprawl out on the miles of sandy beaches (Praia das Pastoras is a fifteen-minute walk away), grab dinner and drinks at one of the waterfront restaurants or just stroll along the river, admiring the many landmarks, lighthouses and sculptures representing Portugal's rich history.

This ground-floor home is bright and elegant, each square inch used to its fullest potential to deliver a comfortable experience. There's no washing machine, which makes this home more suitable for a city break than a long stay, but it's still comfortable and a pleasure to spend time in.

Hidden behind the blue facade of a beautiful traditional building, you'll find this gorgeous apartment. With a great location just ten minutes away from the riverside and plenty of space for your guests to relax, it's a great choice for groups eager to explore the wonders of Porto. 

Push open the front door and you'll be greeted by a bright and airy space with huge windows that flood the room with natural light. There are several quirky touches to admire, from the geometric patterns on the armchairs to the intriguing prints on the walls. And, on sunny mornings, you'll love sipping your morning coffee outside on the balcony as you plan your itinerary for the day to come. 

Wander down to the riverside and admire the bridges the city is famous for, or take a boat trip for a new perspective on the city. A ten-minute walk will bring you into the old town, where you can enjoy a tasting in one of the port bars. And, if you're craving some green space, both Parque das Virtudes and Jardim de João Chagas are within a five-minute walk.

Surrounded by restaurants, cafes and some of Porto's most iconic sights, this apartment is one of eight conversions of former workers' houses. Now, it's a charming spot for couples and solo travellers itching to be in the heart of this vibrant city. Porto Cathedral, Lapa Church, and the Douro River are all reachable on foot or from the tram stop only minutes away. This place does lack character inside, and the bedroom is in a mezzanine, which may not suit taller guests. That said, though you share the patio with neighbours on either side of you, the little bistro table still makes for a nice breakfast spot every morning.

In Porto, it doesn’t get much better than a riverfront location. And this super sleek apartment has enviable views of the Duoro from walls of glass. In the direct neighbourhood, you’re secluded from the bustle of the city centre, but you can watch it all from your quiet location across the river. It’s less than ten minutes on foot to the famous wine and port cellars that line the Duoro and twenty minutes will see you in the historic district of Ribera.

Stepping inside is like entering the pages of an interior design magazine, with warm wood and ink-black accents throughout and walls of glass letting the river view take centre stage. Modern artworks adorn the walls and everything feels open and spacious. There’s a sleek little stove in the living room, and the bedroom’s ensuite has a jetted Jacuzzi tub for an indulgent soak at the end of the day.

This charming home-from-home is a superb base in the heart of Porto. It’s bright, attractive, and welcoming, and it’s equipped with everything you might need for a city break. The apartment is just a seven-minute walk to the Casa da Música metro station, so seeing the sights is as easy as can be. You can walk to Crystal Palace Gardens, a green oasis overlooking the Douro River. Two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living room,  which won’t be the most private setup. 

Charming Quinta

Situated on Rua Miguel Bombarda, renowned for its endless selection of art galleries, design boutiques and vintage shops, this studio apartment is an excellent choice for creative types looking to spend time in Porto’s trendiest neighbourhood. 

Inside, the space has been expertly curated and thoughtfully presented, ensuring you have enough room to relax and recharge. Begin your mornings with a cimbalino (espresso) on the plump sofa before putting together a tasty breakfast in the sleek kitchenette. Enjoy on your private balcony as you plan your day’s agenda. 

Wiggle through the cobbled streets of Miragaia to the Jardim da Cordoaria for a picnic. Once you’re refuelled and raring to go, visit the Igreja do Carmo for its famous tiled façade and Cais da Riberia, a twenty-minute walk away, to watch the boats drift along the river. Head home in the late afternoon to soak up the last of the sunshine from your hanging egg chair with a well-deserved glass of Port in hand.

Situated in the centre of Porto, this apartment is in a great spot to explore this UNESCO World Heritage city. Though the antique decor may not be to everybody’s taste, the home has everything you need for a great holiday, including a fully-equipped kitchen and little patio – perfect for doing yoga or cosying up with a book in the evening. There are many sights worth visiting within walking distance, such as the Mercado do Bolhão and Clerigos Church. Make sure to sample some Portuguese treats such as pastel de nata and Francesinha while you’re here.

When the Porto weather turns chilly, snuggle up in the faux fur throws by the fireplace. We adore this cosy home, especially as night falls and Porto is all lit up – it's magical.

Situated in the hub of the Port industry, there are plenty of wine cellars offering tours and tastings, such as Fonseca Port Wine Cellars and Caves Cálem, a twenty-minute stroll or ten-minute drive away. It's a fifteen-minute ride to the beautiful Porto Cathedral, or seafood lovers can head to the fishing village of Afurada, where you can dine at one of the many fish restaurants, just over a twenty-minute walk from this gorgeous home.




Douro Really Like it

Situated close to Porto’s historical centre, this cosy apartment offers an ideal base from which to explore the city. Sure, it’s not the biggest, but it’s comfortable for two and is perfect for a couples retreat. For a quiet night in, the kitchenette has all the basics needed to whip up a meal, which, we think, is best enjoyed on the communal terrace under the Portuguese sun. If you don’t feel like cooking, this home’s enviable location has you near a whole host of restaurants, so sampling some local cuisine washed down with a glass of port is always on the menu.

Porto Magic

You'll be able to see the shimmering water from your balcony right on the banks of the Douro River. Just along the quayside, you’ll find Porto’s fabulous wine museum, dedicated to the eponymous drink this city is famous for. Perhaps pick up a bottle or two and take them back to enjoy while you look out from the balcony. In the open kitchen and living room, a glass screen conveniently separates the spaces, creating a division that still allows natural light to flow through. Small porthole windows let in a little extra light and reveal the thick stone foundations of this old building. The decor is decidedly minimalist, with splashes of pop art on the walls. In the bedroom, cooling white walls and a generous queen-size bed guarantee a peaceful rest. A ten-minute walk along the river takes you to the wine bars of Ribeira and the beautiful sights of Porto’s UNESCO-protected historic centre.

Located in Porto’s cultural heart, Boavista, this stylish apartment is an idyllic base for solo travellers or couples seeking artistic exploration. 

This apartment is calm and bright, thanks to its expanse of glass doors opening up to a sky-grazing balcony, as well as its cool colour palette and minimalist furnishings. Spend mornings on the balcony with a Nespresso coffee and pastel de nata or gather around the glass-topped table for a light breakfast as the morning sun strikes - your host is happy to arrange breakfast if you so wish. If you can peel yourself away from your breezy oasis, the vibrant neighbourhood has you covered for a sight-filled day.

Whether you’re interested in a concert this trip or not, Rem Koolhaas’s Casa da Música is worth a visit - especially since it’s only six minutes from your apartment. We think lunch is well spent at Cufra - their francesinha sandwich, made with sausage, steak, cheese and spicy sauce, is a solid contender for Porto’s best. Spend the afternoon exploring one of the world’s top art institutions, Fundação Serralves or marvel at the lavish fountains and sea views from Jardim do Passeio Alegre.

A Picture of Porto

Perched in Porto's historic Miragaia neighbourhood, this modern apartment puts you around a ten-minute stroll from the city centre. Offering scenic views over the Douro River, you'll be perfectly positioned to explore on foot or via public transportation. That being said, it sits on the third floor without a lift, and the local district is notoriously steep, so it may not be the best choice for those with limited mobility. It can also get a bit noisy here, so we suggest packing earplugs. After a wander around town, guests can enjoy the open-plan living area's sociable set-up – preferably over a glass of local Port wine. Come bedtime, the air-conditioned bedrooms encourage a comfortable night's sleep. 

A Touch of Porto

Located in the medieval neighbourhood of Miragaia, this contemporary apartment is a great base for exploring Porto, Portugal’s second-biggest city. While the home is compact, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and lounge area. There’s even a small balcony off the bedroom with rooftop views across the city. The surrounding area has colourful houses and a winding river, and Porto itself is steeped in history with lots to discover.

Located in the picturesque neighbourhood of Miragaia, this apartment caught our eye for its proximity to Porto's cultural highlights. It's got a minimalist style, requires a bit of a climb to reach it on the fifth floor and two guests will need to share the sleeper sofa in the living area if you're travelling with a full party. But step outside and you’ll find the Igreja do Carmo, the Portuguese Centre of Photography and Jardim da Cordoaria within walking distance. And when you want to explore further afield, you can hop on the vintage tram or metros nearby.

This modern and sleek studio apartment, situated close to Porto’s historic centre, is a perfect little gem for a couple or a solo traveller visiting this beautiful city and looking for a cosy nest to base themselves at. You’ll benefit from the tranquil surrounding and close proximity to all of the city’s iconic landmarks, and the pad itself offers sweet repose after a long day of exploring.

Rio & Pedra is located on a charming street on the riverside in Miragaia, a peaceful spot that's about a twenty-minute walk away from the central sights. The little balcony will let you admire the river from the comfort of the living room, but the living room is just as pleasant to hang out in – especially the dining area next to the original stone wall. This is an immaculate home where we could see that the host has given the idea of comfort a lot of thought, and we loved the high-quality soft furnishings that give it a homey touch. 

Rio & Pedra

This inviting studio flat in a UNESCO World Heritage City is ready to become your new home. It is located on Rua Miguel Bombarda, known for being a hub of art galleries, alternative shops, and a gathering place for art enthusiasts and new ideas. Enjoy the privileged location while staying in a beautifully decorated studio apartment with high-quality furniture, appliances, fast wi-fi, and minimalistic details for a luxurious yet charming atmosphere. 
 
The Ribeira District is steeped in history, a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, ancient houses, and Portuguese character, and it's a great place to walk around during the day. To truly embrace the locality of Porto and feel immersed in the culture, visit one of the many Port cellars for a wine tasting session. Last but not least, don't miss The Foz District, located at the mouth of the Douro River and features incredible beaches, river sidewalks, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Head out and explore the heart of the city, including browsing the books at the stunning Livraria Lello– a twelve-minute walk away – which is known as one of the world’s most beautiful bookshops. What’s more, the Porto Cathedral and the Chapel of Soul can be reached on foot within twenty-four and twenty-one minutes, respectively. 

In the evening, take advantage of the restaurants and nightlife which are within as little as a one-minute walk from your door. Then, we would love to end each day with a glass of port wine, which the area is known for overlooking the city lit up at night.

Just a short stroll from Porto's central attractions, such as Casa da Musica, this modern apartment is conveniently located for taking in the city's sights. There's a covered balcony with space to dine alfresco in the sunshine. Meanwhile, the kitchen bar is the perfect spot to sample local fare paired with a glass of Port wine. While the interior stylings aren't the most inspiring and no basic essentials are supplied, the air conditioning in the bedrooms is a nice touch. It's a practical base for exploring Porto.

This apartment is the perfect place to experience all that Porto has to offer. The home itself lacks thoughtful design, and the kitchen is dated, though everything works well. If you’re easily awoken, you might want to bring an eyemask, as the bedroom curtains let in a lot of natural light. The plus, however, is the free on-site parking, which is a rarity in this area. If you’d prefer to stretch your legs, the Igreja do Carmo and the famous Livraria Lello are within walking distance.

Speaking of, fill your afternoons here with sunbathing and swimming at  Praia do Carneiro's vast golden sands and crystal-clear waters. You're a short walk from Foz do Douro's waterfront promenade, boasting a variety of excellent restaurants, lively cafe-bars and popular markets for your evening's entertainment. We also recommend the 17th-century Castelo do Queijo fortress nearby for those in town for sightseeing. 

Douro Reverie

Creative types will love the setting of this ultra-modern apartment set along Rua de Miguel Bombarda in the heart of the historic centre. One of the city's most iconic and artist streets, famed for its galleries, interiors stores, and urban street art, this is the place to be. 

And you won't have far to go when it's time to unearth more of the city's charms. Dive into one of the many authentic bakeries around here for those obligatory pastel de natas and coffee to go, then amble along to the beautiful Livraria Lello bookshop (a ten-minute walk away). Or, just a smidge further, the impressive Câmara Municipal do Porto (a fifteen-minute stroll) and the mighty Porto Cathedral (twenty minutes away on foot).

Back at home, the cool, marble floors, contemporary decor, and generous helping of natural daylight (thanks to those large windows), make this pristine apartment a joy to return home to.

Grab a glass of something crisp and crash out in the open-plan living space to soak up the views of Porto's rooftops beyond. If you're peckish, there's everything you need to rustle up a light bite to eat in the sleek kitchen area. Just note – two people will be sleeping on a sofa bed if you're in a group of four. The home is also spread over multiple levels with no lift, so we'd recommend it for those who can easily manage stairs.

Perched in the postcard-pretty district of Cais das Pedras and just a three-minute amble to the Rio Douro, you’ve got the best of Porto at your feet here. Take your pick from the sights of downtown Porto (within walking distance) or hop on the nearby tram to the laidback beaches of Foz do Douro. Though not the largest home in our Porto collection, the French balconies leading off the living room and bedroom help to open up the space. At full occupancy, the last guest will sleep on a sofa bed in the lounge. But for a home this charming, we can let that slide.

Porta Azul

This apartment is part of a former 19th-century palace in Miragaia. While the original facade maintains its Portuguese blue tiles, the interiors are minimal and modern, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a comfortable stay with a dose of history. There’s plenty of space here for a couple or small group to unwind over a glass of local port after a day sightseeing – the balcony is our pick. And if you’re visiting as a group of three, keep in mind that one guest will be sleeping on the sofa bed. Location-wise, you’re within walking distance of the National Museum Soares dos Reis, Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos and the Douro River.

Porto Palácio

Just a short stroll from Boavista, this welcoming apartment provides the ideal setting for an inspiring city stay. From here, you’ll find easy access to local cafes, restaurants and shops, while Casa da Musica metro station is less than ten minutes away. It’s worth noting there is no private parking, but your host can help organise parking nearby along with a range of extra services – including airport transfers and daily breakfast. Inside, the living room opens up onto a large terrace – providing the perfect spot for evening drinks. There is a sofa bed for two guests and while it’s likely you’ll hear street noise throughout your stay, the rooms make it easy to unwind after a day of exploring.

The Lightest Breeze

Situated in a recently renovated building in a historic part of Porto, Rio & Agua is well-lit, comfortable and elegant. The neighbourhood is quiet, but the bustle of the city centre is roughly a twenty-minute walk away. The river is a few steps from the apartment, and the balcony gives you lovely views of it. This home is more suited to a city getaway than a long stay as it doesn’t have a washing machine, but aside from that, it’s a convenient and well-designed base for all kinds of travellers. 


Rio & Agua

If you’re in search of a fuss-free stay in central Porto, this apartment delivers a great solution. Outside, you can walk to Bom Sucesso Market in less than five minutes, and you’ll find concert halls, wine bars and cafes all within easy reach. Casa da Música Metro stop is a nine-minute stroll away too. The apartment has a shaded balcony leading off the bedroom, which serves as an ideal spot to relax after a day of exploring. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room, but this is a convenient option for young families and small groups looking for an easy-going city break.

From here, you'll find an array of diverse attractions within easy walking distance, including the Bom Sucesso Market, Crystal Palace Gardens, and Casa da Música. Plus, the nearest Metro stop is less than a ten-minute stroll away, connecting you to the rest of Porto with ease. While the interiors aren't the most inspiring, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace and there's a double sofa bed for flexible sleeping arrangements or small groups.
