If you’re heading to Kalkan, this hillside villa pulls out all the stops with its views of the Turquoise Coast. The infinity pool gives you front-row seats, and there’s even a lift to take you straight up to it. Inside, the home is spread over three floors, with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the scenery from almost every angle. There's a jacuzzi bath in the main bedroom for that boutique hotel feel, plus a home gym. You can walk down to the beach or town in about half an hour, but it's worth hiring a car. Patara Beach, home to nesting loggerhead turtles, is just a short drive away.

Turquoise Bay Retreat

Facing miles of rolling hills, olive groves and the sea, the views from the balconies and pool are hard to part with here. The large floor-to-ceiling windows and tall ceilings give you plenty of opportunities to gaze out from the plush interiors. Bring your book, music or favourite podcast to the sun loungers where you can relax by the pool and soak in the bright sunshine. If you feel like venturing out, we suggest eating at one of the fish restaurants where you can taste local trout and drink excellent wine. Foodies who love to cook should take a trip to Kalkan, where you can stock up on fresh produce to take home and feast on in the outdoor dining area. 

White Lines

Set to the incredible backdrop of the rolling Turkish hills, this home might be a sight to behold, but the true magic lies in the other direction. Marvel at the sea view as you step out onto the terrace first thing in the morning, coffee in hand, and appreciate the quiet tranquillity on offer here. Later, when the rest of the group joins you outside, you can dine al fresco, spending hours around that table simply being present in the moment. 

Make yourself comfortable on the sunlounger and take advantage of the sunshine to work on your summer glow. When you slip into the water later on, we recommend swimming out to the edge of the infinity pool so you can once again remind yourself of the stunning panoramas. Kalkan is a hive of activity, so venture out and explore the restaurants, cafes, boutiques and shops lining the cobbled streets. Hop from beach to beach as you familiarise yourself with the Turkish Riviera, but always be back in time to watch the sunset from the rooftop terrace.

This contemporary villa on the Turquoise Coast can make this dream a reality – and believe us when we say, that’s a view you’ll never tire of. If you can bear to haul yourself out of the water, do so to retreat to a sun lounger, where you can soak up the Turkish rays as you settle down for the afternoon with your holiday read. 

Perfect for outdoor living, you can light the barbecue and enjoy an alfresco dinner as evening arrives and Kalkan lights up below. If you’re tempted to take a trip into town, check out the harbourside lounge bars and rooftop restaurants – tuck into gözleme stuffed with feta and spinach for the ultimate Turkish treat, simple and delicious. For a daytime adventure, head to the harbour and book a boat trip. As you sail across the turquoise water, you’ll feel contentment wash over you. 

Turquoise Tranquillity

This pretty hilltop home boasts views over the harbour, ocean and Kalkan Town - which is just a twelve minute walk down the hill. Considering the proximity to the town, the amount of outside space you get is pretty great; there's a covered garden, pool, outdoor jacuzzi (there's also another inside, just in case one wasn't enough), table tennis table and roof terrace. Pine tree lined mountains, the white sandy beaches at Kaputas and Patara and cobbled lined shopping streets aren't far away, and you can be at the fantastic local restaurants in five minutes by foot. 

White Bougainvillea

With the feel of an authentic Antalya shepherd’s hut, but with a luxurious make-over, Shepherd's Rest sets the scene for a couple’s retreat. You’ll love the distance it takes you from urban living and the modern-day grind. Set in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, it’s a hidden secret that quietly just gets it right. You will drop the tempo and imbibe the local pace here. Wander out for a dip in the pool, or sit back in the hammock while all around you there are the sounds of woodlands. Head into Islamlar for a dash of local flavour and colourful bustle – then, coming back here will feel like a welcome haven of tranquillity and privacy. Only a ten-minute drive from the centre of Kalkan, you'll be within easy reach of its postcard harbour setting, many rooftop restaurants and laid-back beach clubs, as well as weekly markets and an array of artisan boutiques. Beyond Kalkan, why not head inland to discover the nearby mountain villages of Islamar, Saribelen and Bezirgan for example? It's hidden corners like these that will give you a true taste of Turkey, with tiny village shops selling authentic, fresh fare such as rose-water Turkish Delight, organic tea leaves and scented spices.

Organic Tea Leaves 

This home, at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, is a perfectly secure hideout for guests who love swimming in open lakes and sauntering along hiking trails (parts of the Lycian Way Trail are right by this home). On evenings you decide to stay in, sink into the hot tub by the bedroom balcony, pop your champagne by the infinity pool or simply fire up the barbecue as the stars come out. If you love your daily dose of wellness, there's a dedicated sauna, gym, infinity pool and a hammam in your very home. Right at the heart of the village Islamlar, treat yourself at the local trout-farm restaurants. Explore olive groves and vineyards that open your heart to rural Turkey. With gorgeous beaches and 'gulet' trips to nearby islands, this luxurious home is all you need to stay energised.

Mint Delight

Here, you’ll have the sense of being in a woodland hide-out, but without the mess. With a jacuzzi and pool, you get the luxury of mountain cabin living. Islamlar is in the foothills of the striking Taurus mountain range. Colours are thrown into sharp focus here; blue becomes vivid turquoise and white is dazzlingly bright. You won’t be able to resist dropping the pace, wandering to the garden, taking a dip in your pool, and enjoying lazy lunches alfresco. We love the timber-clad interior, which gives a warm, homely feel. At the same time, you have those luxury extra touches. Finished with thoughtful care, your main concerns will be whether to plump for the hammock or the day bed.

Lycia's Dream

There are some homes that exude character, ones that you can tell hold a lot of stories. This idyllic home is one of them. Here, you’ll find a traditional brick village house that’s been lovingly restored while retaining its original charm, surrounded by vast fields and the majestic Taurus mountains. So, if you love homes with character, you’ll fall head over heels for this one. 

Located in the quiet, tiny village of Kınalı, you’re a far cry from daily life. It’s a time machine back to the days of Turkey gone by, with old artefacts, Ottoman touches, a gorgeous rustic dining table, and a traditional Turkish barbecue. But that isn’t to say this home isn’t comfortable for the modern person, we don’t think you’d find a well-equipped kitchen or a plunge pool for cooling off from the heat way back when. In Turkey, life is lived in the outdoors. Spend your days sunning by the pool in the secluded garden of native foliage, playing backgammon around the bistro table, and tucking into barbecue dinners washed down with an Efes. On cooler days, you might want to explore the nearby hiking trails in the mountains or explore the fascinating abandoned village of Kayaköy, a ghost town of old stone cottages. 

This is a beautiful, transportive place for a small family or couple to switch off. But if you want to discover more of Turkey, you’re a short drive from the popular tourist town of Hisarönü and if you venture just a bit further you’ll reach Fethiye. Explore the area’s gorgeous, pristine beaches, swim in the crystalline waters, and spend evenings in waterfront restaurants and lively bars. Or, spend cosy evenings under the wooden pergola, cooking up fresh barbecue dinners, and chatting away. The colourful garden is beautiful enough, but take the steps up to your flat top roof for wildly stunning sunset views, overlooking the Babadağ mountain.

Remziye Cottage

Tucked away in the hillside of Kalkan you’ll find this traditional stone villa, which boasts unobstructed views of the Turquoise Coast and Mediterranean Sea below. Swim to the edge of the earth in the infinity pool, where sky meets sea, or simply admire the views from one of the outdoor seating areas – hard to pick one, we know. 

The earthy tones of the terracotta facade and internal stonework are complemented by rich hues of blue and turquoise running throughout the home and extending to the pool. The carefully curated interiors create a feeling of ethereal comfort and calm where worries simply melt away into the horizon. If you’re an early riser, we recommend taking a dip in the indoor heated plunge pool with a cappuccino in hand, or doing some yoga on the terrace. If you prefer a more leisurely morning, let the Turkish sun gently wake you up, followed by balmy days poolside. For a change of pace, hop in the car and drive down to the beach town of Kalkan, where sandy beaches, lively restaurants and local pubs lay ripe for exploring.
