Perfect for a romantic getaway, you’ll find this quaint villa tucked into the mountainside in the village of Islamlar. Sleek and modern, there’s so much to love about this home, but its finest feature has to be the in-bedroom hot tub – perfect for soaking the day away with a glass of wine as night falls. If the warming bubbles don’t tempt you, step out onto the terrace to enjoy your dinner poolside as the LED lights set the mood. With wonderful company, peace and quiet, and the warm evening air wrapping around you, you’ll feel utterly content.

During days at the villa, you’ll have plenty to entertain you – game of table football, anyone? If the cooling waters of the pool aren’t calling to you, snuggle down in the hanging egg chair with a good book and get lost in a story for a few hours. When it’s time to explore, the nearby coastal town of Kalkan is well worth a visit. Just a fifteen-minute drive away, you can soak up the laidback vibe on the pebble beach or test out the local cuisine at one of the many rooftop restaurants as you drink in the sea views. 

Magic on the Mountainside

Home views of the Kalkan Harbour and scores of facilities designed for boundless comfort equals the true meaning of a Turkish delight. Add in a heated pool, a hot tub and dashes of blue all around this villa and you can pretend you’re underwater, living in aquatic heaven. Afternoon naps on the Balinese beds are exactly what you need after an invigorating swim. All the bedrooms are decked out with balconies hosting vistas of the sea so your mornings are always a breeze, in every sense of the word. Whip up breakfast in the Bosch kitchen, take a plate out to the terrace and savour your surroundings after sunrise. In the evenings, put the grill to work then wine and dine your loved ones in the outdoor dining area. Beach towels, blankets and all the beach essentials you could need are at your fingertips so everyday is a good day to get a taxi down to Kalkan Beach for continued relaxation in the sun.

Sapphire Alpine

Charming, unspoilt and steeped in history, the old fishing town of Kalkan is a knockout. You’ll find your low-slung villa is a ten-minute drive from the centre, tucked inside the hillside, overlooking the glittering Lycian coast. When you’re not sunning yourself on the shores of Kalkan Beach, you’ll be dipping in and out of your private infinity pool, napping on a lounger or setting the alfresco dining table in preparation for a tasty Turkish feast. 

Inside, washes of white paint and polished marble floors keep the living space breezy and bright feature walls in the bedrooms ensure you start the day with a pep in your step. Put the final touches to your itinerary at the breakfast bar then grab your sun hat and explore your surroundings. If you’re keen to expend some energy, Saklikent National Park is a forty-three-minute drive away but if you’d prefer to stay put, the Jacuzzi tub in the main bedroom is the perfect place to unwind and watch the sunset.  

Golden Tulip

Here, you’ll have the sense of being in a woodland hide-out, but without the mess. With a jacuzzi and pool, you get the luxury of mountain cabin living. Islamlar is in the foothills of the striking Taurus mountain range. Colours are thrown into sharp focus here; blue becomes vivid turquoise and white is dazzlingly bright. You won’t be able to resist dropping the pace, wandering to the garden, taking a dip in your pool, and enjoying lazy lunches alfresco. We love the timber-clad interior, which gives a warm, homely feel. At the same time, you have those luxury extra touches. Finished with thoughtful care, your main concerns will be whether to plump for the hammock or the day bed.

Lycia's Dream

With the Taurus Mountains above you and the Turkish Mediterranean coast down below, this peaceful home is ideally situated to explore both the coastline and the countryside in this unspoiled part of Turkey. Though just twenty minutes from Kalkan by foot, you'll feel far, far away from the hustle and bustle of the busy seaside town as the house has a tranquility and peace about it. Cool neutral tones, marbled floors and a monochrome colour palette feel fresh and modern, but the outside space really makes it special; a pergola, infinity pool and kosk - traditional Turkish seating - all, overlook the sea. 

Sky and Sea

With the feel of an authentic Antalya shepherd’s hut, but with a luxurious make-over, Shepherd's Rest sets the scene for a couple’s retreat. You’ll love the distance it takes you from urban living and the modern-day grind. Set in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains, it’s a hidden secret that quietly just gets it right. You will drop the tempo and imbibe the local pace here. Wander out for a dip in the pool, or sit back in the hammock while all around you there are the sounds of woodlands. Head into Islamlar for a dash of local flavour and colourful bustle – then, coming back here will feel like a welcome haven of tranquillity and privacy. Enjoy simple fare on the barbecue and the easy feel of living in this cabin-in-the-woods. 

Shepherd's Rest

Sitting 8 kilometres above Kalkan in the mountains of Islamlar, this modern villa’s outdoor spaces and dramatic natural views caught our eye straight away. Geared towards families or friends looking to socialise in the sun, you’ll find plenty of ways to pass treacly afternoons with a private pool, a ping pong table and an outdoor dining area all set for alfresco barbecue feasts. To top it all off, there’s an indoor hot tub and two balconies accessed from the pair of bedrooms – sea and countryside views included. When thoughts turn to sightseeing, hop in your car to explore Kalkan’s old town and harbour, make a beeline for the pebble beach or hike a portion of the Lycian Way, Turkey’s longest walking trail. 


Turquoise Skies

This home, at the foot of the Taurus Mountains, is a rather swanky getaway if you love swimming in wild lakes and sauntering along walking trails (you're right by the Lycian Way Trail). The home has some very notable details like the hot tub by the bedroom balcony, infinity pool, the dedicated sauna and gym and your personal hammam. Right at the heart of the village Islamlar, you can not only try local trout-farm restaurants but explore olive groves and vineyards that set this region on the traveler's map. With gorgeous beaches and 'gulet' trips to nearby islands, there are a fair number of day-trips to choose from as well.

Pistachio Delight

Set to the incredible backdrop of the rolling Turkish hills, this home might be a sight to behold, but the true magic lies in the other direction. Marvel at the sea view as you step out onto the terrace first thing in the morning, coffee in hand, and appreciate the quiet tranquillity on offer here. Later, when the rest of the group joins you outside, you can dine al fresco, spending hours around that table simply being present in the moment. 

Make yourself comfortable on the sunlounger and take advantage of the sunshine to work on your summer glow. When you slip into the water later on, we recommend swimming out to the edge of the infinity pool so you can once again remind yourself of the stunning panoramas. Barbecue, play table tennis, or read on the private balcony.

Kalkan is a hive of activity, so venture out and explore the restaurants, cafes, boutiques and shops lining the cobbled streets. Hop from beach to beach as you familiarise yourself with the Turkish Riviera, but always be back in time to watch the sunset from the rooftop terrace.

Kalkan Lookout

There’s a lot to love about this traditional farmhouse. Its 300-year history is reflected in the stone walls, wooden beams, and fireplace, while the ornate furnishings add a splash of Turkish opulence. But really, it’s the view that steals the show here. Whether you’re reading in the rocking chair on the terrace or swimming in the huge infinity pool, you’re treated to expansive views across Kaya Valley and the abandoned village of Kayaköy. It’s undoubtedly something special. 

From the traditional rugs to the friendly nature of your host, the spirit of authentic Turkey is felt everywhere here. Take in the mountain views from your bedroom balcony, savouring a Turkish coffee for the full experience. Bask in the natural surroundings by the pool, flickering between daydreaming while taking in the pretty view and reading your book. 

If you never wanted to leave this oasis in the lush valley, we’d get it. But a short walk through the countryside will take you to the atmospheric Kayaköy – an absolute must-see. If you like walking, you’re in the right place – follow the Lycian Way from Kayaköy to remote, unspoiled beaches. For busier beach days, you’re a twenty-minute drive from the famous Blue Lagoon in Ölüdeniz.

Love of the Valley

This fantastic new home weaves elements of Turkish design into twenty-first-century modern living. There’s air conditioning in every bedroom, a lovely open-plan living and dining space with TV, and – of course – fast WiFi. Outside, the massive pool offers cool respite from the blazing sun, as do shady olive trees, hammocks and a lovely wooded outdoor dining spot. Beyond awaits the village of Islamlar with traditional restaurants and a bakery that still grinds its flour using a water-powered millstone. Walkers will love the Lycian Way trail, which winds past idyllic beaches, traditional boat-building yards, fishing villages and UNESCO-listed ruins.

How Bazaar

Facing miles of rolling hills, olive groves and the sea, the views from the balconies and pool are hard to part with here. The large floor-to-ceiling windows and tall ceilings give you plenty of opportunities to gaze out from the plush interiors. Bring your book, music or favourite podcast to the sun loungers where you can relax by the pool and soak in the bright sunshine. If you feel like venturing out, we suggest eating at one of the fish restaurants where you can taste local trout and drink excellent wine. Foodies who love to cook should take a trip to Kalkan, where you can stock up on fresh produce to take home and feast on in the outdoor dining area.
