If you’ve dreamed of staying in a cabin by the sea, then this serene home in the heart of Cambria might be the one you’ve been waiting for. A soothing palette of green and grey tones comes together with concrete floors, exposed redwood beams and rustic furniture to create a quirky studio space – we particularly love the industrial-inspired bathroom, with its walk-in concrete shower, big enough for two. Slide open the full-height glass doors and step out into the yard, where you'll be able to breathe in the sea air as you sip your morning coffee and make plans to explore. You won't have any trouble finding places to visit – this home has direct access to over 400 acres of walking trails on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve (don't forget your binoculars for whale watching), as well as several local wineries within less than a ten-minute drive – head further afield to Pianetta Winery (forty minutes away) and name drop your host for a free tasting. Or if you'd prefer to hit the beach, it'll take just seven minutes to get from your door to the shore on foot – the sunsets here are incredible.

Ocean Light

With the Facebook HQ your neighbour, this stylish apartment is ideal for any business trip to Fair Oaks. It’s the perfect mix of business and downtime, with Bedwell Bayfront Park just across the road for a morning jog or leisurely stroll, and plenty of trendy eateries in the area. Plus, it’s just a half-hour drive into the heart of San Francisco, just up the bay.

There’s plenty within the building to fill your downtime. Swim laps in the huge outdoor swimming pool, or laze on a lounger in the sun. There’s a barbecue area dappled with stringed lights and fire pits in the outdoor lounges if you’re feeling social. Inside the apartment block, you’ve got a full gym with its own yoga studio, cafés and myriad plush lounges. Should you crave some privacy, the apartment is kitted out for relaxation in the open-plan living area, and convenient for working remotely with a laptop-friendly desk. The kitchen is particularly spacious and well-equipped with a big breakfast bar for busy mornings.   

Face the Music

Surrounded by cypress trees in Mountain View, California, this ecological home is a true architectural wonder. Expertly designed by renowned studio Atelier Hsu, its open, industrial-style featuring exposed steel beams and reclaimed redwood furniture instantly reflects its Silicon Valley surroundings. It doesn’t take a genius though to see this home is pretty special. The living room’s huge glass doors give way to a sun-soaked patio while just inside, a large dining table is perfectly positioned for semi-al fresco dining. An eye-catching iron staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms, both boasting their own freestanding bathtubs in their respectively luxurious bathrooms. Wander down to the large, white kitchen to cook up a Cali-fresh meal, or head out to explore Mountain View’s downtown bars and restaurants just under a mile away. While the area is known for its many cycling and walking paths, you can also easily explore further afield. San Francisco is just a forty-minute drive away or a short train ride from Mountain View station, just ten minutes down the road.

Silicon Cypress

Pretty as a daisy, this quaint craftsman-style cottage makes for a romantic bolthole in the heart of Solvang. For those who have not been here or heard of this small town in California's Santa Ynez Valley, it's known for its many wineries, but most importantly for the unexpected Danish-style architecture that's linked to its heritage. You can walk everywhere in this vibrant little town and discover its many eateries, shops and, of course, bakeries. Pick up a Danish and enjoy it with your morning cup of Joe on your front porch, before driving to a winery for a tasting or to the rugged coast for a dip in the ocean – it sounds idyllic, doesn't it? 

Daisy Two

Tucked away in the serene coastal community of Pedro Point, this modern cabin offers the perfect escape to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Located just a nine-minute walk from Pacifica State Beach and a six-minute stroll from Shelter Cove Beach – you'll be blown away by the bay's beauty, making it a popular spot for photographers. It's also a favourite amongst surfers, so whether you like to be part of the action or watch it all from a safe distance, Pacifica State Beach caters to all. There is a range of surf shops and some great local eateries on your doorstep too. For those who want to see more than just the coast, San Francisco is less than a twenty-five-minute drive away. When you're done exploring all that the San Francisco Peninsula has to offer, head home and rustle up a cioppino in the modern kitchen. We love the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood – perfect for a sundowner. Black Walnut Cove

It’s easy to see why this beautiful home has been featured in magazines including Martha Stewart Living – it’s stunning. The professional pastry chef homeowner has designed the kitchen as the heart of the home, and there’s a real focus on the shared living spaces. This is an excellent home-from-home for a group wanting to spend quality time together, whether you’re whipping up a feast and dining under the stars, or unwinding on the bocce court. In the foothills of Mount Tamalpais, this home is close to hiking trails, and the restaurants, art galleries, and shops of Downtown Mill Valley are just a short drive away. It’s the perfect spot for a getaway. 

Redwood Hideaway

This Wine Country home is luxury stay and home comforts all wrapped up in one. With arty themed bedrooms, a sunroom office, and an outdoor kitchen and barbecue, you'll feel right at home. But the main bathroom with a soaking tub and cedar sauna – plus the option to arrange a private chef and daily housekeeping – really make for those luxurious finishing touches. It's a short walk into downtown Petaluma, where you'll find great restaurants and boutiques to browse, and a thirty-minute drive to the coast and Sonoma's iconic vineyards. 

Golden Blossom

Wonderfully positioned to make the most of this coastal area – this home is a nine-minute walk from Pacifica State Beach. The jagged coastline caters to a whole range of visitors, from surfers who like to ride the bay's impressive waves to photographers keen on catching the beautiful light. Or go for a hike on Shelter Cove Beach, a six-minute stroll away. There's an array of surf shops and some fantastic local eateries on your doorstep too. For a more action-packed day trip, San Francisco and all it has to offer is just a twenty-five-minute drive from this home. Chic, coastal-inspired interiors, polished concrete floors, and vast windows make it a delight to stay here. We love the vistas over Pedro Point from the living room and balcony – enjoy a glass of Californian rosé wine while enjoying the views. Later whip up a Clam Chowder in the kitchen before relaxing on the comfy sofa – this place is all about unwinding.

Willow Cove

As you arrive at this quintessentially San Franciscan Victorian house, its ornate wooden exterior and stairs invite you inside. Located in Noe Valley (a family-friendly area right by the Mission District and Castro) you can’t help but feel at home from the offset. The interiors feel warm, plush, and playful. We love how some of the pieces play on transitional versus modern – the wire-sculpted moose head above the fireplace, and an angular chandelier in the lounge, alongside original paintings and photography prints. The living spaces are all connected, leading outdoors to decking and a leafy garden. Start the morning out here with the free weights or on the yoga mat like a true Californian. After lunch, pop on the record player or have a tinkle on the piano by the beautiful windows. For the little ones, you’ve got your very own playroom filled with kids toys and books. For a day out, gather the family and head twenty minutes up Twin Peaks for spectacular views of the city. About twenty minutes in the other direction will take you into the Mission. Get a babysitter (your host can help you out with recommendations) and head out for wine bars, excellent restaurants, and perhaps a cocktail to round off the evening.

Valleys & Peaks

Set in Menlo Park within the San Francisco Bay Area of California – you'll be just a fifteen-minute drive away from the world-renowned Silicon Valley, home to the iconic Meta headquarters. Blending city living with an abundance of local nature, you'll find plenty of things to do here, come day and night. Take a short scenic walk to Bedwell Bayfront Park or discover the local restaurants, bars and nightlife with this brand-new apartment as your swanky base. 

Offering a hotel-like experience, this cutting edge condo comes with complete access to an array of incredible on-site amenities. The overall laid-back aesthetic gives us coffee shop vibes – we can hear the mellow soundtrack already.

While at the flat, you'll enjoy your own slice of privacy amidst a contemporary setting, you'll likely prefer to spend much of your time making the most of the communal social spaces. The residency was designed with leisure at its core, from the rooftop terrace with a fire pit and barbecue to the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub area. You'll also have access to a large gym, yoga studio and a self-serving coffee cafe. Come evening time; you may even hear the sports lounge, bar and games room calling your name for some fun.

Across the complex, there are plenty of seating areas where those working remotely can knuckle down to concentrate, or perhaps the living room of your apartment is better suited if you need your own quiet space?

This home’s prime location puts you a five-minute car ride from Paso Robles wine trail. Or, you can walk to Jack Creek Cellars, just three minutes across the street, for a glass or two with your date and not have to worry about the drive home.
