It's actually right on the 7th fairway of the Palmer Private Course, so after a quick morning cup of coffee in the courtyard you can be teeing off in no time. Guests who haven't perfected their swing will love this home too, thanks to the beautiful shared pool, the private courtyard ideal for alfresco feasts, and the bubbling spa pool ready to melt all your worries away. Inside, it’s a lively mix of eye-catching antiques, earthy hues, and lots of mirrored walls that make it appear a lot bigger than it actually is. La Quinta’s charming old town is only a short drive away from here – and you’re also close to lots of beautiful hiking trails traversing the Santa Rosa Mountains.

This enormous mansion is less than a half-hour drive from Coachella Valley, Joshua Tree National Park, Salton Sea and Palm Springs, but to be honest, you could have the stay of a lifetime here without even leaving the property. In-home spa and massage services are available to help you fully unwind. It’s a veritable palace inside, with stone columns and tiles floors keeping things cool. Myriad lounges and seating areas are spread across the open living area with a dedicated movie nook, a grand circular lounge beneath the domed ceiling and a banquet-sized table for the group to dine. You don’t need to go to Vegas to roll the dice, either – within these walls, you’ll find a full casino-style set-up including snooker, foosball and a poker table to challenge your guests to a game or ten. 

Play your cards right, and you’ll spend your stay drifting from decadent interiors to the sunny gardens, which are no less opulent – dive into the magnificent pool, soak in the integrated hot tub, host a barbecue to remember in the huge dining and grilling area, and spend a night watching the sun go down in the outdoor bar. Our favourite spot might have to be the teepee-style outdoor lounge, which adds a touch of boho charm to an otherwise opulent playground. Set in a gated community in Indio, April Showers offers the kind of luxury that the Coachella Valley is famous for. This isn't your regular Indio home with a wraparound backyard, a huge open-plan living room, and a split-level pool and spa. We particularly love the homely charm that features throughout the property – from the moment you arrive, expect to be greeted with a warmth comparable to the feeling of stepping inside your own home. Since the sun is always shining around here, you'll probably want to spend most of your time outside in the garden – whether it's for a game of ping pong, a dip in the pool, or to fire up the barbecue, gather the group together to enjoy a sociable affair from day through to evening. While there's plenty to keep you occupied on-site, this characterful villa also works beautifully as a base from which to explore the happening area. If you're into golf, this is something of a pilgrimage site. Not only is the vast PGA West complex just a few blocks away, but there are countless courses within a ten-minute drive. And there is undoubtedly plenty around to keep you busy if you aren't so keen on golf – La Quinta boasts a vast array of upmarket shops and restaurants, less than a ten-minute drive away. Did we mention that the Empire Polo Club, better known as the site of the Coachella music festival, happens to be reachable in just a six-minute drive?

Everything in this incredible Mediterranean-inspired villa is super-sized – the home itself, the verdant grounds surrounding which span twenty acres and the invitingly blue swimming pool that sits in the middle of this space. As you might imagine, it's an ideal location for a wedding or any other large ceremony, but it's just as suitable for a decadent getaway.

Elsewhere outside, there's a fully-equipped outdoor kitchen, as well as a long alfresco dining table on a pretty palm-fringed patio where you can enjoy the fruits of your labour. When you want to relax after dinner, the bubbling water of the hot tub awaits.

Inside, there are plenty more impressive features. There's another gizmo-stocked kitchen that's only missing a chef to do the cooking – which you can, of course, hire through the host if you so wish – as well as lots of bold artwork on the walls, an inbuilt fireplace and spa-worthy bathrooms. 

In the surrounding Coachella Valley, there is no shortage of golf courses, with the closest just eight minutes' drive away. Similarly, the nearby Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument gives you the opportunity to go hiking – the start of the Boo Hoff East Trailhead takes twenty-five minutes to reach in the car. 




Zero to a Hundred

Spend days out in the lush garden, with its tropical hibiscus, citrus, bird of paradise and, of course, palm trees. While there’s plenty of places to sit, you’ll probably be moving from the pool to the Jacuzzi, to the sun lounger and then back to the pool again. Toss a round of cornhole with friends or family, or play some golf on your own personal putting green. When the sun sets and the desert night air settles in, light up the grill and fire pit for a cosy dinner under the stars. Inside, you’ll find the home is equally well set up for entertaining – the enormous kitchen is ideal for fixing up elaborate dinners, while the pool table and wet bar provide the evening’s fun and games. Even from inside, you can enjoy the wonderful landscaping of the garden, with the large paneled living room windows providing a beautiful view of the inviting outdoors. The bedroom suites are roomy and the bathrooms are spotless, adding to the comfort found in every room of this thoughtfully designed home. Though it will be hard to run out of things to do here, it’s worth making time for the area’s hiking and shopping. The famous El Paseo shopping district is only fifteen minutes away and Empire Polo Grounds is just four minutes away. Plus, if you fancy a larger golf course, you’re already on one, with several more in the surrounding area. 

In the Fairway

Situated on a golf course, this expansive home boasts sweeping views of the fairway and the Santa Rosa Mountain range – both of which you’ll be appreciating a lot given the incredible outdoor area here. Dive into the saltwater infinity pool to break from the heat, then soak your muscles in the Jacuzzi. Read your book under the refreshing spritz of the misting system with a margarita in hand (yep, there’s a Signature Margarita Machine). Sit by the fire pit, turn up the grill or simply relax on a lounger – this home’s a poolside wonderland. Inside, you’ll find an open-plan living area where both functional and playful spaces blend together. Challenge a friend to a game of pool or poker while the chef of the group makes use of the incredibly well-equipped kitchen – with a blender, food processor, rice cooker, deep fryer and pizza stone, any kind of cuisine can be on the menu. When it’s time to sleep, the bedrooms boast luxury linens and plenty of space for sprawling out. While there’s so much to do at the house, if you fancy going out you'll find golf courses, restaurants and shopping all around the area. Plus, for adventurous hikers or nature lovers, Joshua Tree National Park is only forty-five minutes away by car.

The Coachella Valley has become synonymous with Southern Californian cool. And this Mediterranean-style home in Indio, home of the festival, is a great spot for a group to spend a little downtime in the desert at any time of year. There’s plenty to do nearby – spend your days exploring the restaurants, shopping, golf courses and hot springs in Indio itself. Or it’s a half-hour drive to the mid-century modern architecture and pool parties of Palm Springs. 

Perhaps you're just here to sunbathe by the pool and we can get on board with that. Soak in the hot tub, crank up the gas grill and eat out on the terrace – days here were made to be spent outdoors. Hosts can arrange for a private chef if you're really pushing the boat out and want to put the gourmet kitchen through its paces. Or, organise a relaxing massage at the house. The fireplace in the living can keep the place cosy warm on cold desert nights and wood shutters and tufted headboards in the bedrooms set a classy tone.  It might not include a Beyonce appearance but this Coachella home is a hot ticket in its own right.

Ten can share the space comfortably and we love that the design has been thoughtfully laid out to ensure everyone can make the most of it, whether the kids want to splash about in the lagoon-style pool, you want a quiet moment by the fire or the group fancy a game of pool. Choose between the main lounge with its big windows, or the family snug with its huge TV – both have their own fireplace. 

Taking the luxury levels a step further, the host is always getting compliments on how comfortable the beds are. There’s also the option for a private chef to put that marble-topped professional kitchen through its paces, or arranging a massage without leaving the comfort of the home. It’s convenience and indulgence combined, and it’s all yours.

Lush, trailing foliage leads up the winding path to the entrance of this villa, where inside, the interiors exude warmth, elegance, and style. We love the rustic touches and natural fibres – think wicker, wood, and woven fabrics. But it’s the outdoors that make this diamond truly sparkle. Open the doors out to the pergola, where you can grill lunch on the barbecue and dine alfresco. Then lie back in the sun loungers, swim in the heated pool, or soak in the hot tub – it's like living in your own private resort. Speaking of which, as one of the USA’s leading golf destinations, you’re surrounded by world-class courses (your nearest is just over two miles away). You can spend a morning on the lush green, then the afternoon in the desert. In less than twenty-five minutes, experience the surreal landscapes of Coachella Valley National Park. After such action-packed days out, you’ll love coming back for margaritas by the poolside as you watch the stars.

In the La Quinta Cove neighbourhood, this Palm Springs home is surrounded by mountain trails, sprawling golf courses, and shops and restaurants. The San Jacinta Mountains loom as a rugged backdrop to the villa. A walled backyard offers a bit of privacy so you can swim laps in the pool or soak in the Jacuzzi in peace. Inside it feels boho chic with a hint of mid-century quirk. The living room is set around a fireplace and dotted with houseplants and curated trinkets. A second, less formal, seating area is set up by the big TV, perfect for a movie night. The kitchen has plenty of prep space, thanks to a granite island that doubles as a breakfast bar. Coachella Valley may well come to the world's attention across two weekends in April, but there are plenty of reasons to visit during the rest of the year — one of which is to stay in this spectacular farmhouse-style villa.

Given the region's glorious climate, this is an address that makes it easy to spend as much time outdoors as possible. The heated saltwater swimming pool in the middle of the garden features a circular bar and a separate spa pool. Just next to this, there's a sunken seating area arranged around a fire pit, as well as loungers, hammock chairs and cabanas in which to sneak in an afternoon nap. As if that wasn't enough, there's also an outdoor kitchen and an impressive selection of entertainment options, including darts, a putting green and oversized versions of board game favourites.

Try as you may but you're unlikely to be able to spend your whole time out in the open air. Besides, the beautifully modern interior deserves some attention, too. The open-concept living-kitchen area benefits from eye-catching lighting, sleek surfaces and a preference for instantly soothing shades of white. There's a contemporary fireplace if the weather turns a little chilly, as well as some inviting bedrooms suites.

The Empire Polo Club where Coachella Festival takes place can be reached in all of five minutes' drive, but there's a huge range of things to do in the local area aside from that, including a vast array of golf courses, hiking in the nearby Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and shopping in Old Town La Quinta eight minutes' drive away.

Surrounded by the majestic Santa Rosa mountains and lush, award-winning golf courses, this desert home is a great base for nearby adventures and trips to local restaurants. If golf isn't your thing – it's just a fifteen-minute walk to the beautiful Fred Wolff Nature Preserve, where you'll find hiking and cycle trails aplenty. You may not want to leave your villa, though, with its pool which provides hours of entertainment and a welcome break from the summer heat. Admire the breathtaking mountain views while you dine on the terrace or as the light fades, watch the desert night sky sparkle. This home's interior has a fun splash of colour and ample space for hanging out with family or with friends – we love it.

Experience the history of old town, La Quinta first hand at this casita complex. The protected indoor/outdoor dining space with white-wash walls, wicker lampshades and Mexican blankets paint a scene out of an old western. A private pool and spa is shared between the two casitas for families and friends to come together for some fun in the sun, or an evening barbecue. Bikes are also available should you want to make a short cycle to the shops and restaurants of La Quinta. Inside, the rustic white walls, exposed beams and wooden flooring continue the historic feel. Though the sleek, stainless steel appliances in the otherwise rustic kitchen are distinctly 21st-century, there is no escaping the old-world charm of this place. Having said that, no one is leaving you totally disconnected, with modern comforts of wifi, Apple TV, and bluetooth sound systems. It is up to you whether you want to switch off here. Old or new, this is the best of both.

Stepping into this La Quinta home feels like stepping into a Moorish palace. Wrought-iron flourishes, bright white walls and pops of terracotta orange combine to create that old Moroccan feel inside. The living room feels homely with its collection of boardgames and books, and squashy leather sofas. While the kitchen is blissfully sleek with loads of counter space for meal prep. Should work beckon, a separate office room provides a classy spot for remote working. Guests have access to the resort’s clubhouse where a swimming pool in the shape of a Moroccan plunge pool awaits, and a sunken circular hot tub can soothe aching muscles. The grounds are also home to bocce ball courts, tennis courts, a gym and ping pong tables. If you prefer to soak up the sun in private, the home’s own terrace has a gas grill and outdoor dining, plus a couple of loungers.

The Blue Frog

It's an oasis of calm and solitude in the heart of the Palm Desert – for an ultra-private retreat to California, this home really hits the mark. With a sublime backdrop of the Santa Rosa mountains, a luscious green garden – complete with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, fire pit and an alfresco dining area – you'll be drawn to the great outdoors here. But, when you're not lying around in the backyard, spend time relaxing in the modern and breathable home with chic interiors, exposed beam ceilings, quirky animal print upholsteries and an egg-shaped swing seat. Start the day with your morning java around the sleek breakfast bar, while mapping out the day's adventure. Speaking of, you're just a twenty-two-minute drive from Coachella Valley and an eighteen-minute stroll to La Quinta's Old Town, so whether you're keen to explore the surrounding natural beauty or sample delicious South American cuisine, this location allows access to the best of both worlds.

Surrounded by several golf courses nearby to the Coachella Valley and Joshua Tree National Park, this villa caught our eye for its location in a beautiful resort. The interior of the home is comfortable, and the little balcony is a nice touch too. Though the bunk beds might suit the little ones best, and space may feel limited at full occupancy, there's plenty of room to stretch out on the impressive grounds. Pick from any of the fifty communal swimming pools, or enjoy the shared hot tubs and gym after a complimentary breakfast. 


The California Dream

Situated on a golf course, views here extend all the way to the horizon. Take in the lake and the mountains, the manicured fairways and a deep breath of desert air. This home is special for the way it combines the best of indoor and outdoor living, with disappearing walls of glass transforming the living area into a giant well-furnished terrace that looks out on the back garden. Step outside, towel in hand, and dive into the sparkling saltwater pool. After a few laps, unwind in the Jacuzzi, or just plop on a lounge chair like a lizard in the desert sun. With palm trees surrounding you, and the peaceful Santa Rosa mountains in the distance, it’s hard not to abandon yourself to total relaxation. The sentiment continues inside – step through the disappearing pocket doors to the living room where you’ll find a billiards table, sofa and gourmet kitchen. We can't get over the layout – just settle back on the sofa and enjoy the unencumbered view. The bedroom suites here have welcoming carpet, personal bathrooms and lots of space. And once you’re well-rested, you’ll find the Empire Polo Grounds are just eight minutes away by car while the famous El Paseo shopping district is just a twenty-minute drive.

One of the biggest estates in Coachella Valley, this palatial home is an absolute dream. Forget all about the city as you swim laps in the huge pool or soak in one of the hot tubs. If you can bear to tear yourself away from a home that has it all, head to the impressive and spectacular national parks nearby, where you can explore mountains, forests, Salton Sea, and hike through the famous Joshua trees. Right in the heart of the Coachella Valley, this villa is all grandeur and muted tones inside, and a riot of colour and fun outside.
