Located in the heart of Joshua Tree, this knock-out hideaway has been featured in everything from fashion shoots to music videos as well as Andy Samberg's film "Palm Springs" – a fact that doesn't surprise us considering its otherworldly style. This home subtly blends into the desertscape with its earthy tones and rusty finishes, featuring a fusion of Wabi-Sabi and modern design.

There are large sliding doors that open to reveal the sandy 8-acre private garden and mountains beyond. Make a beeline for the expansive outdoor deck and saltwater pool with integrated hot tub and Baja shelves. Lie back in the cool water and gaze up at an endless blue sky. At night, you can spot the Milkyway as you chat with friends around the 10-foot fire pit. Cooking up a feast or crafting cocktails is easy with the chef's kitchen, making this home utterly perfect for a desert escape with friends or family. 

With free access to the Desert View Conservation Area of Joshua Tree National Park, you'll find mountain views and trails that can keep you occupied for days here. Though when you are ready to get back in touch with civilisation, rest assured you'll be just a four-minute drive to the centre of Joshua Tree with restaurants, coffee shops, and yoga studios within easy reach. 


High Desert Mirage

Wild Rocks is one of those homes that always appears effortlessly chic. Designed by Oller & Pejic, it’s an architectural gem set against Yucca Valley’s rugged desert terrain. The sliding glass doors blur the lines between the inside and outside, allowing you to enjoy home-cooked meals on the terrace, gaze at the stars, and relax in the hot tub. We also loved the enormous record collection, which features some of the host Joann’s all-time favourite tunes. Found just a short drive from Joshua Tree National Park, there are plenty of exciting adventures waiting for you.

Wild Rocks

Experience the history of old town, La Quinta first hand at this casita complex. The protected indoor/outdoor dining space with white-wash walls, wicker lampshades and Mexican blankets paint a scene out of an old western. A private pool and spa is shared between the two casitas for families and friends to come together for some fun in the sun, or an evening barbecue. Bikes are also available should you want to make a short cycle to the shops and restaurants of La Quinta. Inside, the rustic white walls, exposed beams and wooden flooring continue the historic feel. Though the sleek, stainless steel appliances in the otherwise rustic kitchen are distinctly 21st-century, there is no escaping the old-world charm of this place. Having said that, no one is leaving you totally disconnected, with modern comforts of wifi, Apple TV, and bluetooth sound systems. It is up to you whether you want to switch off here. Old or new, this is the best of both.  

Cactus Rose

Fitting more than ten guests into a single home is tricky, so this estate is comprised of three — all luxurious and equipped with everything you might need for a great stay. It's situated in the middle of California's wine country, making it easy to visit the nearby wineries to sample the local vintages. For those who prefer staying in and relaxing, there's plenty to do at home too. You'll find the sparkling private swimming pool surrounded by plenty of sun loungers, where you can splash around or catch some rays. There's also a barbecue area and a fire pit, ideal for keeping your guests cosy and well-fed after dark. Plus, there's plenty to explore in the sprawling grounds – including your own vineyard, fruit orchard, and even an equestrian centre. It's hard not to form lifelong memories when you're in such a special place – we think you'll love sharing your days in this idyllic slice of California with your family or friends. 

The Good King

Go to bed after watching the spectacular sunset over the Pacific and wake up to the sound of the crashing waves at this jaw-dropping beachfront home in the surfside city of San Clemente. 

Contemporary coastal cool is the order of the day, with plenty of light wood, fresh blue furnishings and pristine white walls, all accentuated by the sunlight that pours in 342 days a year through large windows and retractable glass doors that look out over the ocean.

There's plenty of space for all the family, with large open living spaces, a stunning modern kitchen with eye-catching quartz worktops, a dedicated games room with a billiards table, plus a lovely office to make the idea of working while on holiday a little more palatable. 

Sleeping arrangements are taken care of across five spacious bedrooms. A large loft room packed with games and a console allows you to leave the kids to it as you enjoy a glass of something cold out on the covered terrace, or lay out on a lounger on the promontory pointing out to sea.

If the call of the ocean proves too much, you won't have to walk far to access Lost Winds beach below. With consistent surf, volleyball courts, and the opportunity to jog or cycle along the 2.6-mile beach trail, there's plenty on offer here. However, seasoned surfers might want to check out nearby breaks including Trestles, T Street and San Onofre. Lowers (at Trestles beach) is the best of the bunch and the home of high performance surfing. Sometimes it's best just to sit back and marvel at the pros.

After a day of adrenaline-pumping activity, cooking may well be the last thing on your mind. Handily, San Clemente is home to a wide array of restaurants serving everything from American comfort food, farm-to-table fare and creative Mexican classics washed down with a mescal.


The Dawn Wall

Surrounded by ten acres of stunning desert landscape in the Yucca Valley, this remarkable net-zero energy home really is the epitome of a secluded getaway. It’s been profiled in Dwell Magazine as well as on countless high-end websites, and you can immediately see why. With glass sliding doors in each room inviting you to step out into the wild beauty outside, there’s a seamless flow between indoors and outdoors making this home feel completely at one with the Mojave Desert. We love the balcony equipped with a sun chair – accessed via the master bedroom and living room – and the outdoor shower that will get any morning off to a refreshing start. Spend the day hiking around your sun-drenched house, taking in the majesty of the ancient junipers, weathered boulders, desert oaks and piñon pines, or hop in your car to visit Joshua Tree National Park, just a twenty-minute drive away. After a day of adventuring, come back home for drinks around the fire pit before firing up the barbecue for an alfresco feast. Then end the night with a soak in the hot tub while you watch the night sky turn into a blanket of shimmering stars. 

The Graham Residence

Escapes to this Yucca Valley home are guaranteed to be unforgettable. With endless views of the Mojave Desert, guests can spend hours watching pink sunsets from the hot tub, dining alfresco against the serrated silhouette, picking out constellations from a sky full of stars and toasting marshmallows over the fire pit. Inside, designer furniture and poured concrete floors feel extra stylish, and the bedrooms with luxury mattresses, percale cotton bedding and original artwork demand long lie-ins. Put an album on the record player as made-from-scratch meals cook away in the up-to-the-minute kitchen, and when dinner’s demolished, clear the plates ready for an evening of board games. After practising yoga on the patio with the sunrise, mornings are to be spent exploring; pull on your hiking boots and make your way to the Joshua Tree National Park, a twenty-minute drive from the property. Stop off in Yucca Valley’s Old Town on your way back for a bite to eat and a well-earned, ice-cold drink.

Desert Willow

It's hard to picture a home more Palm Springs than this. From the saltwater pool surrounded by palm trees to the abundance of sun beds, this home is perfect for a family reunion or friendly getaway. With the size of the space, you'll easily be able to find space to yourself here – there's even a meditation room. There's also plenty of space to come together, though – you'll find enough space for everyone in the jacuzzi, and alfresco dining is a breeze thanks to the barbecue. When it's time to explore, you're just a short drive from mountains and desert here, and just up the road from downtown Palm Springs.

The Desert Spring

This home is clearly a labour of love, and it reflects a lot of the host's personality. There are spaces for meditation and yoga, both indoors and out, and the desert aesthetic has been perfectly captured in the design. A renovated mid-century home, it's minimalist and charming. Outside, you have a grill and a hot tub, which is a great spot for watching the stars move across the clear desert skies. All of that’s without even mentioning the location. You can walk into Joshua Tree Village, which has several excellent cafes and restaurants, and if you drive ten minutes in the other direction, you’ll reach the entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.


Mojave Haus

This chic home is an excellent example of mid-century modern architecture, set just two blocks away from iconic Palm Canyon Drive. The effortlessly cool interiors give a nod to the past, with antique style patterned rugs, statement lighting and unique artworks on the walls. Outside, there's a glittering swimming pool, lined with bright white sun loungers and tangerine parasols, where you can take a dip with the dramatic backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains. If you fancy getting active, take a hike up to the peaks, or hop on the aerial tramway to avoid breaking a sweat – either way, you'll be treated to jaw-dropping views over Coachella Valley. Come home for a sundowner on the terrace, before stretching out on the curved green sofas with a classic Hollywood movie.

Craving California

Tucked away into the hills above Laguna Beach, All-Star is within easy walking distance of hiking trails, restaurants, children’s parks, the beach, and nightlife venues. Of course, you also get to enjoy wonderful canyon views and peek-a-boo ocean views from this elevated position. But the best part of All-Star is what’s inside. This elegant space was recently remodelled with its guests in mind. Delight in the seamless flow of indoor and outdoor living, make the most of this peaceful setting, spend quality time together in the chic living area or chit chat around the breakfast bar while others prepare a delicious meal in the state-of-the-art kitchen. Hang out on the deck or explore over 10,000 square feet of backyard.

All-Star

It's clear that famed architects Palmer and Krisel had a lot of fun when they designed this original 1960s Mid Century Modern holiday home.  

From the side-by-side bathtubs and candy pink desert tones to the oversized heated pool, this is the kind of home that uplifts the spirits and makes you smile. And with breathtaking views across the San Jacinto mountains, you’ll find yourself floating on a cloud of desert bliss. 

Follow the light through the airy living room, and you’ll find the space opens up onto an expansive private backyard. From here you can watch the sunrise, lounge by the pool, enjoy a game of ping pong and gather for laughter-filled barbecue meals that stretch long into the evening. And when the light fades, you’ll find the fire pit makes the perfect spot to come together and watch the stars glitter. 

Located in the heart of Historic Racquet Club Estates, you’ll find it’s just a short walk to the local parks and aerial tramway while it’s just a five-minute drive to the shops and restaurants of downtown Palm Springs. And for explorations further afield, it’s a fifteen-minute drive to Desert Hot Springs and forty minutes to La Quinta.
