Set right on the sunny West Coast, this beautiful home oozes mid-century charm, and by echoing the relaxed vibe of its Long Beach surroundings, is the perfect place for rest and rejuvenation. 

Imagine yourself here, sipping freshly-brewed coffee with your feet up as you read in the light of the striking living room. Using the statement wall in there as a backdrop for family holiday photos is one of the features we love most about it, but we can’t deny that the outdoor space is our absolute favourite. 

Find yourself out by the pool after a quick breakfast and bask in the sun as you catch up on podcasts in the sun lounger, or find shade under the gazebo or patio umbrella. Pour drinks, enjoy each other’s company, take a dip in the pool whenever you need cooling down, and allow yourself to unwind. 

Drive minutes away to spend entire days on the beach, exploring the restaurant and bars of the area before going sailing at the Shoreline Yacht Club.

We can think of nothing better than warmer evenings spent out here with friends and family, soaking up the last of the stubborn Cali sunshine with alfresco drinks in hand. The garage parking at this home makes it very easy to head down to the beach and enjoy long fun-filled days spent building sandcastles with the kids, swimming in the sea and frisbee throwing on the sand. In fact, there's up to five beaches under a five-mile radius from your home, meaning you can mix up your chosen tanning spot each day. Here, you can get to the eponymous beach in twenty-five minutes, but Downtown LA is only forty-five minutes away in the car if you want to up the ante at any point.

This newly constructed home has a private entrance, but sits at the back of the main property, where your lovely hosts live, meaning you can always ask them for any help or local tips. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchenette, a comfortable living area and a wonderful bedroom, featuring a queen Casper mattress. Treat yourself to a glass of wine and wind down on the patio before enjoying an excellent night’s sleep, then do it all again for a perfect vacation in Long Beach.

This elevated home in Rowland Heights makes the most of its expansive views. From the balcony, the terrace and even from the bath, guests can gaze out at that enticing sun-kissed California landscape. You have space and air to breathe here, but you’re just a thirty-five-minute drive from Downtown LA. The 29-acre Pathfinder Community Regional Park is pretty much on your doorstep, and Disneyland Park is only half an hour’s drive. 

Inside, the main living space is a calm sea of aquamarine, blue and turquoise. From watery, ripple-effect artworks to the soft velveteen greys and turquoise of the plush sofas. High ceilings and large windows make the whole space feel spacious and relaxing. We love the church-style arch window at one end, which is echoed in some of the bedrooms. The other end of the living area is for dining, with the table looking out onto the patio, the lush garden and those wide-open views beyond. There’s an entertaining family room off the kitchen, complete with a pool table and large TV – perfect to plant the kid's in front of as they come down off the high of their visit to Disneyland.

This breezy coastal apartment is just a five-minute drive from Huntington Beach. There's space to sit out and enjoy alfresco drinks on the private balcony, while the dedicated workspace and super fast wi-fi make remote work a breeze. The local shopping centre is a light stroll from your doorstep, but we think it's worth hiring a car here to get the most out of this fantastic location. Along with Orange County's golden coastline, you'll find Huntington Beach Central Park and Meadowlark Golf Club an easy drive away, and Anaheim's Disneyland Resort is less than an hour away by car.

We love the exquisitely chosen tribal blankets, rugs, cushions, and plenty of colourful houseplants that greet you as you step through the door. But it's outside that things get truly intriguing. Step out into the secluded garden and chill out in the string chairs in the corner, before dining beneath the shade of the pergola as you indulge in the barbecued food.

You're only a six-minute drive from LAX, and you're closer to the beach than you think – Playa del Rey and Dockweiler Beach are just down the road. A fifteen-minute drive away is Venice Beach, where you can stroll down the unique coastal promenade and show off your abilities at the skate dance plaza before resting at a cafe with a refreshing drink. Head to the golden sand for some sunbathing, or catch the waves while surfing in the clear seas. Check out Little Tokyo, where lanterns hang overhead and the Japanese American National Museum transports you back in time. As the evening comes to a close, stop for some ramen before returning home to switch on the string lights, ignite the fire pit, and sit out under the stars at night.

We have to say love the glimpses of the bay from the second-floor balconies. There’s a private lushly planted patio garden too for relaxing and dining in the sunny California climate.

Find yourself at home in this Spanish-style home in Inglewood. Drive to Santa Monica Pier and Beach, or spend the day exploring Chinatown. Whilst at home, take advantage of the alfresco dining table in the back garden and front porch seating to bask in the Californian sun. Though we think the exposed beams and fireplace add charm to the space, not everyone will like the style here. Still, it's well-kept and comfortable. It is worth noting the sleeping arrangements include three trundle beds that might be best suited to children.
