If you want to be close to the action while still having a peaceful sanctuary to rest, this home is for you. Just one block from the beach, you can enjoy blissful Venice days by the ocean – beach equipment is provided. Everything you could need is within walking distance – including the restaurants and shops on Abbot Kinney Boulevard. And when it comes to relaxation, this home welcomes you to switch off and unwind on the private patio. There’s a fire-pit for magical evening drinks, while the living room sets the tone for cosy family gatherings. Two of the bedrooms have access to private balconies as well as luxurious en-suite bathrooms.

Pacific Moon

One of California's most iconic seafront addresses, this eye-catching pink and purple villa sits directly on the sand, with bi-fold doors peeling back to a covered beachfront terrace where the Pacific is right there in front of you. Above it all, a rooftop deck stretches views across the ocean to Santa Monica Pier – a ten-minute walk when you're ready to venture out. The main suite adds a fireplace and spa-inspired en-suite bathroom to the picture, while VIP extras like a private chef and in-home massage mean you rarely need to leave.

Pastel on the Pacific

Get set to embrace all things Los Angeles as you and your cohort make memories in this modern apartment building. Located just south of La Brea, you’ll be in the perfect location to explore the cultural sights and vibrant sounds of Los Angeles. With access to the whole building, you can make the most of downtime and group socialisation. Whether you’re seeking hiking trails in Topanga Hills or days waterfront in Venice Beach, you'll be in an idyllic central spot to do so.

With incredible attention to those little details that make for an excellent stay, these L.A. apartments are minimal, dynamic and ever-so-comfy. The plump sofas invite you to sit back and play a few card games, whilst the kitchens are decked out for preparing feasts for you and your loved ones – there’s a barbecue on the roof if you feel like grilling. Spend mornings on the balcony with coffee and end the day with cold beers on the rooftop terrace.

With some of the most iconic LA destinations within driving distance, you can spend the day ambling the boutique stores on Sunset Boulevard (a twenty-minute drive), exploring the artefacts at The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (a fifteen-minute drive), or eating barbecue in Koreatown (a ten-minute drive).

The City of Gold

Soaring ceilings and sophisticated amenities await at this home in Venice Beach. It's the perfect location, a twenty-minute walk from the boardwalk and beach. There isn't a pool here, but the roof terrace makes up for that. You can unwind with a glass of wine, gather by the fire, and strike up the barbecue for an alfresco meal as the sun goes down. Indoors, you'll find three floors of living space. The main suite is on the top floor, with a soaking tub for extra relaxation. That's all our boxes ticked.

Sunset Over Venice

Gather on the rooftop fire pit terrace beneath a canopy of palms, and it's easy to see why this Venice house is something apart. Inside, double-height glass walls flood the living room with California light, while a striking navy kitchen with a marble island anchors the ground floor. A saltwater pool with an underwater viewing window and an adjoining hot tub add to the drama below. Venice Beach boardwalk, the Venice Canals, and the boutiques along Abbot Kinney are all minutes from your front door.

Glass & California Light

Ten blocks from white sandy beaches, or a short stroll away from the Venice Boardwalk, you'll never be short of activities at this Santa Monica home. Your attentive hosts have provided all the beach basics too – bags, chairs and beach towels. There’s a zen calm to the home, where a Baddha stands in prayer and sprouting grass adds a touch of natural green to the living room. Though you’re on the edge of the city here, big windows show off a view of trees. There’s a quiet little roof terrace, where greenery creeps over the wall and two comfy chairs provide the perfect cocktail spot. Up the spiral staircase, both bedrooms are decorated in the ink-black and parchment white of Japanese zen and the master has a desk in the sunny window.

Sunset Pacific

Exquisitely designed and situated a fifteen-minute walk from the warm sands of Venice Beach, this contemporary bungalow is an ultra-modern delight hidden behind a humble timber-framed facade. Pristine white and sleek black tones, including the porch's checkered floor tiles, make for a monochrome-themed pad that’s as aesthetically pleasing as it is relaxing.

We absolutely love how the home's design blurs the lines between indoors and outdoors. The living room opens up to a small terrace by way of a disappearing glass wall, making for a tranquil space that allows you to savour the fresh air from the comfort of your cosy sofa. When you get the urge to explore your local area, a short stroll will take you to the Abbot Kinney Boulevard strip where you’ll find a range of trendy boutiques and buzzy restaurants.

Monochrome Magnet

Small but mighty, this cosy studio in West Hollywood has some of California's most famous destinations nearby. The Sunset Strip and Hollywood Bowl are only minutes away, and so is Beverly Hills when you're in the mood to shop. Though compact, the home still has more than enough space for two. We see this as the ideal destination for a romantic getaway, especially with the garden, where you'll find a hammock and shaded bistro table. Still, with a small laptop-friendly workspace, it'll also work well for a business trip.

The Los Angeles Sky

The matte black façade belies the bright and trendy interiors, which include cool white walls, wood flooring, and plenty of windows that beam with natural Californian sunlight. We love the exquisitely chosen tribal blankets, rugs, cushions, and plenty of colourful houseplants that greet you as you step through the door. But it's outside that things get truly intriguing. Step out into the secluded garden and chill out in the string chairs in the corner, before dining beneath the shade of the pergola as you indulge in the barbecued food.

You're only a six-minute drive from LAX, and you're closer to the beach than you think – Playa del Rey and Dockweiler Beach are just down the road. A fifteen-minute drive away is Venice Beach, where you can stroll down the unique coastal promenade and show off your abilities at the skate dance plaza before resting at a cafe with a refreshing drink. Head to the golden sand for some sunbathing, or catch the waves while surfing in the clear seas. Check out Little Tokyo, where lanterns hang overhead and the Japanese American National Museum transports you back in time. As the evening comes to a close, stop for some ramen before returning home to switch on the string lights, ignite the fire pit, and sit out under the stars at night.

Hut Noir

You wouldn't typically associate Venice Beach with a quirky combo of steampunk and French gilt, but then Venice has always just done its own thing. This apartment manages to tactfully combine both aesthetics to create a bohemian vibe that fits right in with its creative and all-inclusive surroundings. And should you stay here, you'll certainly appreciate the 10ft-high ceilings, open floor plan, and shared outdoor garden space – complete with a hammock, outdoor seating and fire pit for atmospheric alfresco evenings. The quiet residential street is great for a restful night's sleep. However, you're close to the heart of the action – the many restaurants and cafes of Rose Ave, as well as the iconic Venice Beach Boardwalk are just a short stroll away.

Steampunk

A masterclass in design, it’s no wonder this modern-meets-mid-century home made it onto the hallowed pages of Architectural Digest. Delightfully peaceful, yet only one block from Abbot Kinney Boulevard, the home achieves the near-impossible feat of feeling both totally remote and right in the middle of it all. The uncluttered bedrooms are a sanctuary of serenity, while throughout the rest of the house, classic mid-century pieces are carefully considered and expertly placed to let open-plan spaces breathe while maintaining an inviting warmth. Swathes of wood and a smattering of pot plants tie in beautifully with the outdoors. Through the vast sliding glass doors, you'll find a restorative backyard space flanked by lush vegetation – it’s the perfect spot for casual early evening drinks. After a bike ride along the Venice Boardwalk – just ten minutes from your front door – retreat to your rooftop terrace to catch the last of the sun or detox in the outdoor sauna.

Amber & Sweet Orange

It’s easy to forget how big LA is, and that even places in Venice might be a half-hour walk from the beach. Hertford Union overlooks the canals, and the sea is less than five minutes away on foot. It’s big, the kind of thing that naturally comes to mind when you think of LA. There are white walls, terraces, greenery, exposed wood. It’s also kept in wonderful condition, and you can see that this is a matter of pride for the hosts, Trevor and Lauren.
