The host of this renovated beach hut in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea has done a stellar job in retaining the home's historical character while also ensuring it belongs well and truly in the twenty-first century. Pinewood flooring, original windows and the stone fireplace are accompanied by industrial-inspired lighting, furnishings in an angelic shade of white and pops of colour from prints hanging on the wall. At the back of the house, there's a covered porch and a terrace complete with alfresco seating and a barbecue — that's summer afternoons sorted, then. Recently renovated, inside it’s all fresh and light interiors, with just the right touch of coastal accents to nod to the coast. Wake up each morning to the sounds of distant waves in the serene crow’s nest bedroom upstairs, before opening the curtains to reveal a glimpse of the sea.  Outside, there’s a spacious yard hugging all sides of the home to give a feeling of privacy and offering plenty of entertaining spaces. Take your pick from two fire pit seating areas adorned with festoon lighting – there’s a spot in the secluded backyard or out front for sunset views.
