In the business hub of Fair Oaks, near the Facebook HQ, this flash apartment sits in a building filled with amenities. If you’re not hitting the building’s private gym, perhaps take a jog through Bedwell Bayfront Park, a five-minute walk away. For a day out in the city, San Francisco is just a half-hour drive away (or fifty minutes on the train from Redwood). 

Apart from a private gym, the building is also home to a huge outdoor swimming pool, surrounded by outdoor lounges with fire pits for cool evenings. There are myriad cafés and lounges inside, and a plush barbecue area outside on the deck too. The apartment itself is big and bright, with modern artworks popping against gallery-white walls. The living room is made for unwinding, but there’s also a laptop-friendly desk should you need to work remotely. The full kitchen is crowned with a sleek, white breakfast bar, providing plenty of space to prep meals.   

Fair of Face

Breathe in the fresh outdoors when you stay in this home. This down-to-earth two-bedroom home instantly feels cosy on arrival and the two sitting rooms make it ideal for a family. We love the rustic interior, with its wood finishes and vintage posters. Lake Tahoe's picturesque landscape is never far away, so appreciate the beautiful mountain views straight from your balcony.

The great location of this residence puts you within one mile of Incline Beach, where you can enjoy a stunning stretch of golden beach, azure waves, and green pine under the Tahoe sun. You absolutely must visit Lake Tahoe National Park, which features the shimmering lake, beautiful woodland scenery, and various fantastic trails for you to experience. After a busy day out exploring the area, head home to savour a barbecue feast on the balcony, before cosying up on comfortable sofas with the kids and playing a board game or watching the TV in front of the fire.

Then step outside and admire the wonderful views from the back deck. From here, you can also spot the sixteenth-hole of the Tahoe Donner Golf Course, which is surely worth a visit if you enjoy the game of golf. Spend your days swimming in any of the area’s magical lakes, enjoy exclusive skiing in colder months or just hang back at the home and relax with a great book and even better company. However you choose to spend your time here, you’ll be glad to soak your tired muscles in the outdoor hot tub at the end of a long day.

Light upon the Lake is just a short walk from Tahoe City, one of the most popular locations on Lake Tahoe. Famous for its beautiful views of the lake, easy access to tonnes of hiking and mountain biking trails, and plenty of great restaurants and funky bars, this location is one that caters to all. 

Light Upon The Lake

Hidden away in the beautiful Alexander Valley of California, right in the heart of wine country lies this massive property spanning eleven acres. Take advantage of three beautiful accomodations and a range of luxury outdoor facilities including a heated pool, outdoor dining and a basketball court. With breathtaking views of Mt St Helena visible right from your living room, this sanctuary is the perfect backdrop for family retreats and corporate events. Indoor sports like ping pong and pool make for casual games nights, or take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchens and a private chef and dine alfreco under the California sun.

Nature lovers will feel right at home here – solar panels are used throughout the property and the large pond covering part of the land allows for hours of bird watching. The barns, horse stalls and riding arena all add to the rustic and equestrian luxury feel of the home, adding a country style to any event. The estate is divided across three adjacent villas – which helps maintain privacy for large family get-togethers and groups of friends – while there's a yurt on the grounds that makes for an adventurous option for the kids. Everything here is set up for outdoor living. There are no fewer than twelve sets of French doors leading out onto ~1,000 sq ft of balconies and ~2,000 sq ft of patio space. The large outdoor gazebo boasts a full outdoor kitchen with a serious gas barbecue and alfresco dining area overlooking the stunning pool and Jacuzzi area. In addition to the usual high-end outdoor amenities, you'll also find professional-standard courts for sand volleyball, bocce ball and tennis. We sense a bit of friendly competition. Take a peek inside the barn, and you'll find a private games room with a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, and dartboard and a large rose garden adjacent to the villa, which provides fresh roses daily.

Large Glass of Red

Nestled rather beautifully on the forested banks of the Russian River in the heart of Wine Country, this charming cottage awaits you, promising a restful and unforgettable stay. Just minutes away from the town of Healdsburg, you’ll enjoy peace and tranquillity here as well as the proximity to shops and great dining options – the best of both worlds.

Dreams of a River 

This beautiful home situated in the centre of Healdsburg dates back to the 1880s. Beautifully restored, it offers a charming and cosy base for those visiting Wine Country and looking to make the most out of their stay. Just moments away from the famous Plaza and its many wine-tasting options, as well as plenty of shops and restaurants, this home is a true gem. 

The lovely exterior hints at the home’s rich history, and the cosy veranda is a great place to relax in one of the rocking chairs, sipping a glass of wine and enjoying the slow pace of California living. For a more private experience, the back garden is fully-fenced and it offers plenty of space for lounging about and sharing alfresco feasts with your friends and family. 

Inside, you’ll be charmed by the elegant living room and the large dining area, both filled with streams of light and decorated with great attention by the host. We love the plush furnishings and the dazzling lighting fixtures, creating an effortlessly stylish effect. Rustle up delicious meals in the well-stocked kitchen and organise a family get-together at the dining table. 

A night of restful sleep awaits upstairs in the comfy bedrooms – wake up feeling restored and ready for some leisurely exploring. Aside from wine, there are also many other things to love about this area. With gorgeous nature and countless hiking opportunities, there’s no better place to relax and leave the troubles of city living behind. 

Sideways to Happiness 

Wonderfully positioned to make the most of this coastal area – this home is a nine-minute walk from Pacifica State Beach. The jagged coastline caters to a whole range of visitors, from surfers who like to ride the bay's impressive waves to photographers keen on catching the beautiful light. Or go for a hike on Shelter Cove Beach, a six-minute stroll away. There's an array of surf shops and some fantastic local eateries on your doorstep too. For a more action-packed day trip, San Francisco and all it has to offer is just a twenty-five-minute drive from this home. Chic, coastal-inspired interiors, polished concrete floors, and vast windows make it a delight to stay here. We love the vistas over Pedro Point from the living room and balcony – enjoy a glass of Californian rosé wine while enjoying the views. Later whip up a Clam Chowder in the kitchen before relaxing on the comfy sofa – this place is all about unwinding.

Willow Cove

On the outskirts of Truckee, and right by Donner Lake (Tahoe’s smaller, less crowded cousin), Sugar Pine has every base covered to make for a great outdoors holiday. Along with the sheer size, which makes it excellent for larger groups and multiple families, the home has pretty much every amenity you can think of, from the private spa (with sauna and steam room), two barbecues, enormous TVs, a games room, and even underfloor heating (a game-changer after skiing, trust us). These all make it seem like an oasis in itself, so the fact that you have vast numbers of outdoor activities on your doorstep – from skiing to hiking, boating, golf, and more – leaves you spoiled for choice.

Sugar Pine

With the magic of the sea, sun, and stars surrounding you at Half Moon Bay, this incredible home is the perfect weekend retreat for a family, only twenty minutes away from San Fransisco. Charge the Tesla at the EV charging station and then explore the trails of the National Forest backing the house or pack your beach bag and stop by the Pacific Ocean, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Sip on sundowners whilst soaking in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the ocean. As the stars speckle the sky, light the fire pit to keep the night going. Kids will be thrilled with the tree-house style bunk beds, a playroom packed with laser tag and a mountain of lego, the big screen projector in the den and the virtual reality set-up. Outside, this place has the wood-tiled cladding and white bannisters of a traditional Bay Area home, but the curved wall of windows in the double-height living room creates a modern feel. A chef’s kitchen comes equipped with more than you need for self-catering – there’s a chef’s torch for those who fancy whipping up a creme brulee – and a collection of spices, oils and condiments are yours to use. Should you need to catch up on some work, there are a plethora of modern office spaces tucked away too. 

The Curve of the Moon

Get away from the everyday at this lovely riverside cottage, located on the shores of the Russian River in Forestville, Sonoma County. This home is sophisticated, warm and welcoming, with a covered terrace where you can admire the lush leafiness around you, as well as the views of the water. Outside, a hot tub invites you to soak away your worries, while a fire pit allows for evenings spent sipping cocoa under the stars. The shore is located at the bottom of the backyard, with a canoe for you to embark on adventures down the river.
