Though you’ll feel totally secluded with only deer as your neighbours, you’ll be just a fifteen-minute drive from Pismo Beach, fourteen minutes from Arroyo Grande, twenty-six minutes from the town of San Luis Obispo and surrounded by excellent wineries on all sides. Explore the local hiking trails, farmers markets, golf courses and dune buggy riding at the famed Nipomo Dunes, just a twenty-minute drive away. Ideal for an extended family or a group of friends with children, the home itself offers plenty of space for everyone to spread out or come together for some quality time. The children can run around in the great outdoors, while the adults enjoy a drink around the fire pit and indulge in countryside views. Enjoy breakfasts on the terrace first thing in the morning and take long soaks in the master tub before bed. Tailor-made for a large group escape, every corner of this home is beautifully curated. But for a change of scene, the country club's shared 18-hole golf course, fitness facilities and on-site restaurant are just a golf-buggy ride away. You'll need a car for anything else – but that's nothing new in California, where the car is king.

Experience the beauty of slow living from this peaceful cabin nestled in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. And, if relaxation is what you have in mind, this couldn’t be a better spot. From the soothing views and the calm interiors to the white noise machines and complimentary toiletries, every detail has been considered to create the ultimate escape. It’s also a great option for families with arcade games, board games, streaming services and plenty to explore in the surroundings. From here, it’s just a twelve-minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village, plus hiking trails are within easy reach. 

Forest of Peace

Hope Ranch Delight

This quaint craftsman-style cottage provides a unique backdrop for a romantic escape in Solvang. If you are not familiar with this town in the Santa Ynez Valley, it's known for its unique Danish-style architecture that will transport you to a version of this Nordic country, but featuring the glorious California weather. It's also known for its great wineries, so make sure to make some time for a wine tasting and tour. From your cosy base you calk everywhere in town and discover the vibrant eateries, shops and, of course, Danish bakeries. Pick up some produce on your way back and fire up the barbecue for a grilling session with your loved one under the stars.

Rose One

If you can’t catch a wave, you’ll be sure to see someone else do it from the living room’s ocean-facing windows. The sea is never far away, with stunning vistas to be found from the dining room to the spacious master bedroom. The interior is modern and minimal, mixing seaside chic with contemporary design. We especially love the sofas made from reclaimed wood; cosy up beside the gas fireplace and catch a movie on the 60” flat-screen TV. There’s even more fun to be had outside. Top up your Californian tan on the sundeck and then cool off in the private pool. In the evening, fry up a feast with the family on the BBQ and crack open a beer beside the firepit. 

Golden State

Come for the outdoor living, stay for the cosy quarters at the end of a sunny day. Hidden away among vineyards and rolling hillsides in southern California, this is an estate that's as picturesque as they come. The outside area has been designed to appreciate the gorgeous views and you can admire these from the comfort of the infinity pool, in the hot tub or sat around the barbecue and fire pit area. There's ample space for alfresco dining on the covered terrace, but there are also grassy areas to play outdoor games, like cornhole. Inside, further distractions await in the shape of the games room, which features ping-pong, foosball and pool. Though the location feels perfectly isolated, there's plenty to do nearby. The city of Temecula takes under twenty-five minutes to reach in the car and offers opportunities for winery tours, hot air balloon rides and dining in high-end restaurants. Similarly, the roaring waters of Ortega Falls are just a thirty-five-minute drive away.
