The estate is divided across three adjacent villas – which helps maintain privacy for large family get-togethers and groups of friends – while there's a yurt on the grounds that makes for an adventurous option for the kids. Everything here is set up for outdoor living. There are no fewer than twelve sets of French doors leading out onto ~1,000 sq ft of balconies and ~2,000 sq ft of patio space. The large outdoor gazebo boasts a full outdoor kitchen with a serious gas barbecue and alfresco dining area overlooking the stunning pool and Jacuzzi area. In addition to the usual high-end outdoor amenities, you'll also find professional-standard courts for sand volleyball, bocce ball and tennis. We sense a bit of friendly competition. Take a peek inside the barn, and you'll find a private games room with a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, and dartboard and a large rose garden adjacent to the villa, which provides fresh roses daily.

The backyard, alone, has a private swimming pool, tiki bar, and a swath of green turf that the kids will love running around on – especially when they’re hiding from the dinosaur. Now, although their ancestor is just a statue, the chickens are very real – find them in their coop when you’re making the rounds outdoors. Pass through trees, make your way up and down steps as you stretch out and shake off the last dregs of sleep, and refresh yourself with a morning swim before going back inside to brew a pot of fresh coffee. 

Take breakfasts out on the patio – chances are you might even enjoy a scramble of fresh eggs, courtesy of the chickens – and when you’re ready to start exploring, head out to any one of the beaches that await you on the other end of a short drive. Overlooking beautiful Donner Lake, which sits on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, guests will find a home that will perfectly suit a small family.  The first bedroom has a king-size bed, while bedroom two is made up of a queen-size bunk bed. More importantly, guests have easy access to the lake so make sure to pack your swimsuits and any floating devices. Wander around the edge of the lake and you'll come across charming cafes, restaurants and shops. We would, however, still recommend having a car in order to explore all this area has to offer.

Sitting in the middle of California's Wine Country, you might picture homes here to lie on the rustic side of things, but that couldn't be further from the truth at this address.

Our favourite part, however, has to be the long kitchen, finished with the sort of sleek surfaces in which you can see your own reflection.

If you're paying a visit during the warmer months, you're sure to fall for the home's plant-filled outdoor space, which, while modestly sized, offers plenty of seating on which to toast the sunset with a bottle bought from a local winery. There's even a barbecue if you want to pair it with some smoky flavours.

In local Healdsburg, you're only two blocks from the downtown area and its restaurants. The wider area is not just reserved for growing grapes, either – there are opportunities to be found for everything from hiking to biking and golfing to watersports.
