Slide open its French doors to reveal interiors worthy of a design magazine cover – vaulted ceilings, lofty bedrooms (each with their own bathroom and patio), and an achingly-cool living space that begs to be lounged around in. 

Carrying on outside, through magnificent gardens, you’ll discover a contemporary two-storey pool house that brings this place right into the 21st century, with one of the most well-equipped gyms we ever did see. But the star of the show has to be the pool and gardens. With 360-degree mountain vistas, soaring palm trees, lush lawns, and hummingbirds busy going about their day, there is no better place to be. Start the day with a few lengths in the pool and soak in the spa, before settling down on one of the many sun decks to catch some rays. 

When it’s time to rustle up a meal, fire up the barbecue in the impressive outdoor dining area, while friends gather around the fire pit. Or let a private chef take over in the gourmet kitchen, complete with a wine fridge and built-in coffee maker to cover off all the essentials. And should you be tempted to stray from this desert retreat, you’ll find downtown Palm Springs a mere fifteen minutes drive away. Though why you’d ever want to leave is anyone’s guess.

The Grand Entrance

It's clear that famed architects Palmer and Krisel had a lot of fun when they designed this original 1960s Mid Century Modern holiday home.  

From the side-by-side bathtubs and candy pink desert tones to the oversized heated pool, this is the kind of home that uplifts the spirits and makes you smile. And with breathtaking views across the San Jacinto mountains, you’ll find yourself floating on a cloud of desert bliss. 

Follow the light through the airy living room, and you’ll find the space opens up onto an expansive private backyard. From here you can watch the sunrise, lounge by the pool, enjoy a game of ping pong and gather for laughter-filled barbecue meals that stretch long into the evening. And when the light fades, you’ll find the fire pit makes the perfect spot to come together and watch the stars glitter. 

Located in the heart of Historic Racquet Club Estates, you’ll find it’s just a short walk to the local parks and aerial tramway while it’s just a five-minute drive to the shops and restaurants of downtown Palm Springs. And for explorations further afield, it’s a fifteen-minute drive to Desert Hot Springs and forty minutes to La Quinta.

Desert Dreamer 

Forest cabins generally have an old-world feel to them but not this modern beauty. Built out on stilts at the top of a hill and set over three floors – each with a deck to make the most of the views – this home looks out across the woods to the mountains. Set on the edge of the Pine Mountain Club community, shared local facilities include an outdoor pool, golf course and tennis courts. Woody

From its chic interiors, individually designed bedrooms and exquisite rooftop terrace, To All A Goodnight is the perfect beach escape for a group of friends or families with kids. In order to maximise on the ocean views, this home has a reverse floor plan with the living area on the top floor. Spend your days whipping up delicious meals in the state-of-the-art kitchen, enjoy a movie night with the cosy fireplace, or indulge in magical sunsets from the deck. There is even an outdoor cooking station and a bar waiting for you. Although we wouldn’t blame you if you spent the entirety of your trip at this wonderful home, you’re also located just a mile from the beach and tonnes of great restaurants, cafes and shops. As far as we’re concerned, To All A Goodnight ticks just about every box.

To All A Goodnight

Combining comforting mountain interiors and contemporary design, Black Arrow is a charming cabin with a little extra luxury and style. Spread across three floors, the five-bedroom home can accommodate up to ten guests, with the option of sleeping two further guests on a sofa bed in the living room. Featuring an open-plan living area, there’s an open and social feel to the space that makes it perfect for a group of friends or a family to spend quality time together, whether that’s getting cosy in front the fire, preparing delicious meals or enjoying the brand new games room featuring skeeball, arcade games, table tennis and a shuffleboard. Out on your private deck, you’ll be blown away by uninterrupted views of the landscape, the outdoor fire pit and an alfresco dining setup. When you’re ready to venture out, you’re just a ten-minute drive from Lake Arrowhead Village and all it has to offer.

Black Arrow

Full of personalised little touches and less than ten minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, this modern coastal cottage is an Instagrammer's dream. This fun desert home conjures up a mix of vintage hippy culture and the modern Boho chic style. Renovated and enlarged from a late-1950s villa, this place has a history. It was built when Landers and its Mojave Desert setting first became a place of pilgrimage for the original hippies. Inside, there's a welcoming, open-plan feel with an eclectic collection of decorative odds and ends. This is desert living, so outside there's the firepit table with distant mountain views, a barbecue grill and a traditional cowboy tub for getting clean in the open air. For a town of just 2,000 people, there’s plenty of things to do nearby. Try sonic healing sessions at the circular Integratron or marvel at the Giant Rock – a seven-storey-high boulder. Drink local brews from the Landers Brewing Company, explore Joshua Tree National Park and do some next-level stargazing.
