Overlooking beautiful Donner Lake, which sits on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada, guests will find a home that will perfectly suit a small family.  The first bedroom has a king-size bed, while bedroom two is made up of a queen-size bunk bed. More importantly, guests have easy access to the lake so make sure to pack your swimsuits and any floating devices. Wander around the edge of the lake and you'll come across charming cafes, restaurants and shops. We would, however, still recommend having a car in order to explore all this area has to offer.

Lake Days

With the magic of the sea, sun, and stars surrounding you at Half Moon Bay, this incredible home is the perfect weekend retreat for a family, only twenty minutes away from San Fransisco. Charge the Tesla at the EV charging station and then explore the trails of the National Forest backing the house or pack your beach bag and stop by the Pacific Ocean, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Sip on sundowners whilst soaking in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the ocean. As the stars speckle the sky, light the fire pit to keep the night going. Kids will be thrilled with the tree-house style bunk beds, a playroom packed with laser tag and a mountain of lego, the big screen projector in the den and the virtual reality set-up. Outside, this place has the wood-tiled cladding and white bannisters of a traditional Bay Area home, but the curved wall of windows in the double-height living room creates a modern feel. A chef’s kitchen comes equipped with more than you need for self-catering – there’s a chef’s torch for those who fancy whipping up a creme brulee – and a collection of spices, oils and condiments are yours to use. Should you need to catch up on some work, there are a plethora of modern office spaces tucked away too. 

The Curve of the Moon

A visit to Wine Country is always a good idea, as is staying in this beautiful Healdsburg home. Your days will be filled with visits to nearby wineries – the house is close to Dry Creek and Alexander Valley – and journeys into Healdsburg. It takes just eight minutes to reach downtown, where you can shop, dine out and explore. 

This Wine Country retreat really is delightful. A large deck is perfect for entertaining – open up a few bottles from the nearby vineyards and conduct your own tasting session as you take in the view of the property. The garden boasts corn hole and bocce ball, as well as a cosy seating area around a fire pit – there’s something for everyone, whether you plan on spending your visit curled up with a book or want a livelier break. 

Inside, there’s plenty of room for everyone to gather together. The main house and guesthouse both boast excellent kitchens, so you can prepare veritable feasts. Stay at the table long after the plates have been cleared – this is what holidays are all about. The living spaces are oh-so-comfortable, and you’re all but guaranteed an excellent night’s sleep in the sumptuous bedrooms. This home has everything you might need for a break – you’re sure to want to return. 


Californian Cosy

Gain peace and perspective at this stunning Californian riverside home. This serene sanctuary is tucked away in a wooded knoll on North Fitch Mountain, and sits amongst the towering redwoods of this area, with its own direct path to the Russian River. This home offers proper privacy, so you can enjoy a peaceful stay with your loved ones without any interruptions.

Wake up each morning and cook up a delicious American breakfast in your fully equipped kitchen, and tuck in alfresco on your outdoor dining set while enjoying the views of the towering trees that surround you. Head down to the river, where you’ll find your own private beach, from which you can set off in your personal watercraft and go on adventures along the water. As the evening rolls in, fire up the grill and cook up some meats for dinner, before having a soak in the hot tub and watching the stars come out.

You’ll be well placed to explore Sonoma County, also known as California’s Wine Country – there’s plenty of vineyards just a short drive away. If you fancy exploring a new city, Healdsburg is a short drive away, a city packed with small-town charm, and with lots of bustling bars and vibrant restaurants to explore.

Redwood Riverside

Enjoy mesmerising views and direct beach access from this Pacific Ocean retreat. You’ll also find a private hot tub overlooking the water, a putting green and a fire pit for magical evenings under the stars. Inside, there’s a cosy and welcoming living room for socialising as well as plenty of space to stretch out and enjoy the views. Private parking is available and you’ll find it’s less than a ten-minute drive to Half Moon Bay, while San Francisco is twenty-five minutes away.  

Wonder of the Waves

In the heart of California's famous wine country, this home makes an excellent first impression. It's hard not to be captivated by the mountain views, and you'll be able to enjoy them from the expansive patio, private pool, and hot tub. There's even a bocce ball court to keep things competitive. Inside, the design is equal parts cosy and contemporary. Beamed ceilings and roaring fireplaces add a rustic touch, but amenities-wise, it's got all the mod-cons – an office for remote working, a Peloton bike for workouts, and a soaker bath for unwinding. Factor in the location close to Napa, Sonoma, and the region's many vineyards, and you'll see why it caught our eye.

Cabernet & Clover

Breathe in the fresh outdoors when you stay in this home. This down-to-earth two-bedroom home instantly feels cosy on arrival and the two sitting rooms make it ideal for a family. We love the rustic interior, with its wood finishes and vintage posters. Lake Tahoe's picturesque landscape is never far away, so appreciate the beautiful mountain views straight from your balcony.

The great location of this residence puts you within one mile of Incline Beach, where you can enjoy a stunning stretch of golden beach, azure waves, and green pine under the Tahoe sun. You absolutely must visit Lake Tahoe National Park, which features the shimmering lake, beautiful woodland scenery, and various fantastic trails for you to experience. After a busy day out exploring the area, head home to savour a barbecue feast on the balcony, before cosying up on comfortable sofas with the kids and playing a board game or watching the TV in front of the fire.


Creek & Glen

Compact yet strikingly chic, this bright studio in Pacifica is an ideal base for those looking to be within walking distance of the beach in a quiet, residential community. You’ll immediately be drawn to the home’s stylish architecture – from its wood panelling to its cool wraparound balcony. This outdoor spot is the perfect place to begin your mornings over coffee or finish the day off with a glass of California wine as the sun sets on the horizon. Inside, large windows give way to natural, wooded views, echoed in the home’s natural-inspired furnishings. Kick back on the inviting armchairs with a good book while glancing up at the impressive scenery or sit down to a meal at the sleek, open-plan kitchen’s wood table. The bed, meanwhile, promises a sumptuous night’s sleep while the dazzlingly white bathroom’s rainfall shower will get any day off to a relaxing start. Outside of your home, explore the quirky surf shops and cafés on the way to Pacifica State Beach (a ten-minute walk) away – a favourite with surfers, photographers and nature lovers – or hop in the car for a quick drive to San Francisco, twenty minutes from your door. 


Live Oak Cove

This delightful Wine Country home is a superb choice for a family or group of friends hoping to relax, unwind, and try some of California’s finest tipples. A newly built cottage, this home sits just eight miles from Healdsburg Plaza, and a few minutes from Lake Sonoma. It’s far enough from town to feel like a real retreat, but you’re within easy reach of anything you might need. Best of all, there are dozens of wineries within minutes. 

As soon as you arrive, you’ll be taken by the stunning vineyard views – this really is a pretty setting. The home has been designed in the style of an Italian villa, with wooden floors and stylish decor. It’s wonderfully comfortable too – after a long day, you can curl up in front of the fireplace to sip tea and enjoy a moment of tranquillity. The kitchen is wonderfully well stocked with utensils so you can whip up feasts with no trouble at all – or, easier still, book a private chef to wow your guests. 

The porch is a strong contender for our favourite spot. Take a seat in a rocking chair as the sun is sinking in the sky, and sip a glass of the wine you most enjoyed that day. You’ll feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle. Continue to unwind by slipping into the hot tub. After one last glass of wine and a few marshmallows toasted over the fire pit, you’ll be ready to sink into a comfortable bed for an excellent night’s sleep. We love it here. 


Cabernet Cottage

Live the Dry Creek Valley dream in this magnificent modern farmhouse. Boasting unbeatable vineyard Views, a wrap-around veranda, and a private garden complete with patio, outdoor seating and barbecue station, this immaculate home is the ultimate Californian wine country destination.  Completely remodelled, this fabulous farmhouse features a large, open plan kitchen cum dining cum living area with ten-foot ceilings, two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and an office cum reading room, also useable as an additional guest bedroom. All wooden floors, whitewashed walls, panelling and exposed beams, this home’s serene yet sophisticated interiors will have you swayed in no time while stainless steel appliances and custom countertops are sure to lure your inner chef out to play. 

You’ll love taking your morning coffee at the breakfast bar, lazing out on the outdoor sofa in the garden, barbecuing to your heart’s content and dining alfresco on the patio. Enjoy a glass of local Sauvignon Blanc with your loved one on the veranda as the sun sets before retreating inside and indulging in long, hot soak in the tub. As the night’s draw in you’ll love cosying up on the sofas by the fire for a movie marathon.

Just blocks away from the shops, restaurants and tasting rooms of downtown Healdsburg, your wine country’s home’s location means you’ll be spoilt for choice deciding how and where to spend your downtime. Seghesio Family Vineyards is a favourite among zinfandels fans and only 1.5 miles away, alternatively pack a picnic and head to Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve, 3.4 miles away.


Vineyards & Verandas

Tucked away in the serene coastal community of Pedro Point, this modern cabin offers the perfect escape to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. Located just a nine-minute walk from Pacifica State Beach and a six-minute stroll from Shelter Cove Beach – you'll be blown away by the bay's beauty, making it a popular spot for photographers. It's also a favourite amongst surfers, so whether you like to be part of the action or watch it all from a safe distance, Pacifica State Beach caters to all. There is a range of surf shops and some great local eateries on your doorstep too. For those who want to see more than just the coast, San Francisco is less than a twenty-five-minute drive away. When you're done exploring all that the San Francisco Peninsula has to offer, head home and rustle up a cioppino in the modern kitchen. We love the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood – perfect for a sundowner. Black Walnut Cove

Sitting in the middle of California's Wine Country, you might picture homes here to lie on the rustic side of things, but that couldn't be further from the truth at this address. 

Behind the sliding glass doors, guests will find an interior that is exquisitely put together – whitewashed walls are adorned with tasteful artwork, the furnishings hark back to mid-century trends, and the glossy bathrooms wouldn't look out of place in a spa. Our favourite part, however, has to be the long kitchen, finished with the sort of sleek surfaces in which you can see your own reflection.

If you're paying a visit during the warmer months, you're sure to fall for the home's plant-filled outdoor space, which, while modestly sized, offers plenty of seating on which to toast the sunset with a bottle bought from a local winery. There's even a barbecue if you want to pair it with some smoky flavours.

In local Healdsburg, you're only two blocks from the downtown area and its restaurants. The wider area is not just reserved for growing grapes, either – there are opportunities to be found for everything from hiking to biking and golfing to watersports.
