Nature lovers will feel right at home here – solar panels are used throughout the property and the large pond covering part of the land allows for hours of bird watching. Charge the Tesla at the EV charging station and then explore the trails of the National Forest backing the house or pack your beach bag and stop by the Pacific Ocean, a fifteen-minute stroll away. Sip on sundowners whilst soaking in the hot tub and watch the sunset over the ocean. As the stars speckle the sky, light the fire pit to keep the night going. Kids will be thrilled with the tree-house style bunk beds, a playroom packed with laser tag and a mountain of lego, the big screen projector in the den and the virtual reality set-up. Outside, this place has the wood-tiled cladding and white bannisters of a traditional Bay Area home, but the curved wall of windows in the double-height living room creates a modern feel. A chef’s kitchen comes equipped with more than you need for self-catering – there’s a chef’s torch for those who fancy whipping up a creme brulee – and a collection of spices, oils and condiments are yours to use. Or, you can walk to Jack Creek Cellars, just three minutes across the street, for a glass or two with your date and not have to worry about the drive home.

Red Robles

Nestled rather beautifully on the forested banks of the Russian River in the heart of Wine Country, this charming cottage awaits you, promising a restful and unforgettable stay. Just minutes away from the town of Healdsburg, you’ll enjoy peace and tranquillity here as well as the proximity to shops and great dining options – the best of both worlds.

We love the rustic interior, with its wood finishes and vintage posters. Lake Tahoe's picturesque landscape is never far away, so appreciate the beautiful mountain views straight from your balcony.

The great location of this residence puts you within one mile of Incline Beach, where you can enjoy a stunning stretch of golden beach, azure waves, and green pine under the Tahoe sun. You absolutely must visit Lake Tahoe National Park, which features the shimmering lake, beautiful woodland scenery, and various fantastic trails for you to experience. After a busy day out exploring the area, head home to savour a barbecue feast on the balcony, before cosying up on comfortable sofas with the kids and playing a board game or watching the TV in front of the fire.

It's also a favourite amongst surfers, so whether you like to be part of the action or watch it all from a safe distance, Pacifica State Beach caters to all. There is a range of surf shops and some great local eateries on your doorstep too. For those who want to see more than just the coast, San Francisco is less than a twenty-five-minute drive away. When you're done exploring all that the San Francisco Peninsula has to offer, head home and rustle up a cioppino in the modern kitchen. We love the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood – perfect for a sundowner. Black Walnut Cove

In the centre of downtown Paso Robles, this stylish apartment puts you close to shops, restaurants and, of course, wine tasting rooms. The hills around Paso are filled with California’s best wineries where Zinfandel and Petit Sirah grapes grow plump on the vine. Indulge in a warming Pinot Noir in the living room, where faux fur cushions invite you to cosy up on the mid-century-style sofa. The sleek, black kitchen has everything you need, including plenty of room for a few bottles of Chardonnay in the big American-style fridge. If you want to switch it up a bit the cute bar trolley is set with everything needed to mix up a few Martinis and when sleep beckons, the huge king-size bed in the master bedroom awaits.

The Viticulturalist

Some places have the power to seduce you at first sight, and this exceptional home nestled in the gorgeous rural setting of Napa Valley is certainly one such place. Offering both the tranquillity of nature and close proximity to the town of Calistoga, you’ll get the best of both worlds here, and with all the exciting activities to be enjoyed in the area, you don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to have a fantastic time.

First of all, there’s the outdoors – a huge, nearly two-acre private garden, guarantying seclusion and peace. If you arrive with kids, they’ll love the play area, and no matter the age, all guests will enjoy relaxing on the wooden patio, complete with a hot tub and a luxurious spa pool. Organise delicious alfresco feasts here, with plenty of comfy seating – what could be more idyllic than a glass of wine on a balmy evening and a starry sky above. For some extra fun, there’s even a bocce ball court out here.

Outside your rural oasis, you’ll find yourself surrounded by picturesque nature trails and wineries, and Calistoga is a mere ten-minute drive away.

This cosy and quiet condo in the heart of a pine forest in a mountainous Californian resort is perfect for those looking for a low-key holiday in the countryside, as well as groups on the hunt for something more active. There are a wealth of sports and activities at your doorstep: cross-country skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking – you name it, they've got it. If none of that takes your fancy, the house itself is perfect for hunkering down by the fire. The granite fireplace and picturesque wooden balcony truly make this a home for all seasons.
