And, if relaxation is what you have in mind, this couldn’t be a better spot. From the soothing views and the calm interiors to the white noise machines and complimentary toiletries, every detail has been considered to create the ultimate escape. It’s also a great option for families with arcade games, board games, streaming services and plenty to explore in the surroundings. From here, it’s just a twelve-minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village, plus hiking trails are within easy reach. 

Forest of Peace

A home for California swell chasers to search out, this home will have you in the water in no time, with the sands of San Clemente a five-minute drive from your front door and some of SoCal's best beach breaks within an hour's drive.

However, that's not to say that if you're not a surf pro, you won't find something for you here. Your host provides some boogie boards for the kids and beach chairs for a slightly more sedate experience down at the beach. But a stay here isn't just about the coastline, with hiking trails, pristine golf courses, and shopping are all a stone's throw away. 

The vibrant home itself shouldn’t go without a mention – its shared roof terrace makes for a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the sea. Indoors, the coastal inspiration is clear. Shades of blue give the bedrooms a sense of the sea, while a mix of wooden tables and shoreside inspired ornaments continues the theme in the living areas.

California Boardin'

Right on the edge of the Los Padres National Forest (and with all the great hiking that comes with it), this home has everything you could ask for. Sunsets and sunrises are predictably spectacular, but the view of the national forest is gorgeous at any time of day. Then, as night comes in, the sky lights up. On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way from the luxury of the hot tub. The centre of Ojai is only a five-minute drive away, but with the sense of seclusion, it might as well be hours. And if you want to reduce your carbon footprint, it has great eco-credentials too, from solar power to well-drawn water.

A couple planning a romantic mini-break to Santa Barbara County will find Danish Orchid makes a great base for exploring the charming town of Solvang. Known for its unique Danish-style architecture, you can explore all it has to offer on foot as the vibrant centre – with its many eateries and bakeries – is just a few minutes' walk away. For an experience further afield, we recommend visiting the local wineries of the Santa Ynez Valley, or a drive down to the coast for a swim in the ocean. We love the open-plan living and kitchen area, making the most of the vistas while providing plenty of space for socialising. And, with a games room, hot tub, sun-kissed garden and alfresco dining opportunities, you’ll never be lost for things to do. When you’re ready to explore, hop on the bikes for a two-wheeled sightseeing tour. Beach calling your name? Sandy shores await just down the street via a set of steps, or you can jump in the car and make the short one-minute drive to Leadbetter beach. 

Santa Barbara Soul

Fitting more than ten guests into a single home is tricky, so this estate is comprised of three — all luxurious and equipped with everything you might need for a great stay. It's situated in the middle of California's wine country, making it easy to visit the nearby wineries to sample the local vintages. For those who prefer staying in and relaxing, there's plenty to do at home too. You'll find the sparkling private swimming pool surrounded by plenty of sun loungers, where you can splash around or catch some rays. There's also a barbecue area and a fire pit, ideal for keeping your guests cosy and well-fed after dark. Plus, there's plenty to explore in the sprawling grounds – including your own vineyard, fruit orchard, and even an equestrian centre. It's hard not to form lifelong memories when you're in such a special place – we think you'll love sharing your days in this idyllic slice of California with your family or friends. 

The Good King

Nestled in the hills of the Central California Coast, this private slice of heaven is yours to call home for a while. Though you’ll feel totally secluded with only deer as your neighbours, you’ll be just a fifteen-minute drive from Pismo Beach, fourteen minutes from Arroyo Grande, twenty-six minutes from the town of San Luis Obispo and surrounded by excellent wineries on all sides. Located in buzzing Orange, this stylish apartment has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay right at your fingertips. Not only are you surrounded by shopping centres and restaurants, but the building has tons of swoon-worthy amenities, too. Break a sweat in the 24-hour fitness centre, spend lazy afternoons lounging in the cabanas by the resort-style pool, enjoy an evening soak in the hot tub before warming up by the outdoor firepit or challenge someone to a game of billiards in the communal lounge. 

Barbecues, ping-pong tables, business centres, even a 24/7 coffee bar – this place has it all, and the apartment itself isn't too shabby, either. There's a relaxed vibe inside with shades of bright whites and cool blues, making it the perfect respite from a day in the California sunshine. When you're in the mood to cook, the kitchen is stocked with cutlery and cookware to make self-catering easy – just pull up a stool and enjoy a meal around the breakfast bar. We also love the private balcony, which is a sweet spot to nurse your morning coffee before heading out for the day. Speaking of exploring, this is a great locale for day trips – Disneyland is a ten-minute drive, Newport Beach is reachable in twenty minutes and downtown LA is only a half-hour by car.
