A nature lover's dream atop a 100-acre historic farm in North Stonington, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. This home offers a one-of-a-kind stay – spend your mornings in the fresh air helping the hosts tend to the farm animals in the tranquil setting to feel at one with nature – from feeding chickens and collecting eggs to brushing the horses and rooster calls here and there, but it's all part of the experience.

The home itself is chic and stylish, yet homey. Mornings are best spent sipping coffee on your patio while admiring the mountain and pasture vistas of your host's Texas longhorn cattle and horses. The living area is accented with slate grey throughout, while the brown provides an earthy sense to make you feel even more connected to your environment, and is ideal for cosying up after a long day of wandering through the unending greenery. We love that the second bedroom has an art studio for letting your creativity flow, where you can paint a stunning picture of the grounds you're staying on, as well as skylights, so you can fall asleep beneath the stars.

When you want to splash around in the sea, take a twenty-minute trip to Misquamicut State Beach, fantastic for the kids to spend a day at the beach while you sit back and relax. Alternatively, drive twenty minutes to the beautiful seaport village of Mystic and explore the foodie haven featuring the area's local meats, organic produce and seafood for a tantalising supper. Stop by Jonathan Edwards winery on the way to pick up a bottle of Pinot Grigio to enjoy back at the house around the fire pit with blankets wrapped around, or check out the dedicated bar area in the living room and craft your own cocktails. There's plenty of North Stonington's rich agricultural heritage to explore nearby, including cattle ranches, organic farms and vineyards (fifteen minutes away by car).

Mystic Countryside Farm

Tucked into a Catskills valley with the Hudson River just minutes away, this house is made for magical group gatherings. Hardwood floors, an industrial-style kitchen with an oversized range, and rustic brick details give it a warm, lived-in feel that makes it easy to settle in. Two separate living rooms mean the group can spread out, whether that's around the wood-burning fireplace or at the piano. When the weather cooperates, the expansive patio is where you'll want to be – alfresco dining, the barbecue going, mountain air all around.

Grace Street

A white clapboard farmhouse set in the rolling Catskills countryside, this house is built for country retreats. The custom kitchen – soapstone counters, wet bar, and a sun-filled breakfast nook – makes slow mornings easy, while the covered deck and bluestone patio with a fire pit are where evenings naturally end up. A separate barn guesthouse offers a couple their own retreat, complete with a kitchen and living space – though there's plenty of room to gather around the fireplace in the main house. Hudson's galleries and restaurants are a twenty-minute drive away, with hiking trails around Kaaterskill Falls also within easy reach.

Golden Hour Farm

People had a lot of fun at Woodstock back in the day (although the music festival actually took place on a farm in Bethel, 40 miles from actual Woodstock, but let's not allow facts to get in the way of a good intro). Just a seven-minute drive from the centre of town, it's in a serene, wooded area with numerous places to hike nearby (and just a forty-minute drive from ski resorts in the winter). Perfect for a group of friends or an extended family, it's got lots to do without stepping foot off the property. Swim in the outdoor pool, relax in the hot tub on the deck or chill out in the games room – there's even a special play area for small children and a baby room complete with a cot. Inside, big windows and high ceilings make for a light-filled space, with a sociable flow to the open-plan living space and a great kitchen for whipping up those special meals.

Aquarian Exposition

Reminiscent of something from a Laura Ingalls Wilder novel, this picturesque cabin is a haven surrounded by peace and quiet and lush woodland. Although you can count on a serene stay here, you’re also just a five-minute drive from the quaint town of Old Chatham where you can find some local amenities, or a ten-minute drive from Chatham Town, which has several excellent restaurants and plenty of charming local shops. Perfect for a cosy couple or a small family, this home can welcome up to four guests, though two of them will have to sleep on the sofa bed. Spend your time reading on the porch, playing lawn games, and hiking in the area, before coming home to whip up a delicious meal in the fully equipped kitchen and settling down for a great night’s sleep in the King bed. Thanks to its picturesque setting, The Great Frontier is the ultimate escape for those who want to unwind and recharge in the comfort of nature.

The Great Frontier

If you’re in search of a coastal adventure or a relaxing beachfront escape, this home delivers the perfect solution. Nestled in Stonington village, you’ll be spoiled by beautiful views, an expansive two acres of lush grounds, a private pool and a tennis court. And while there’s everything you could need to enjoy the great outdoors, the rooms are just as inviting with a home theatre, a sauna, a wine cellar and plenty of socialising space across the living and dining rooms. You might find it hard to leave this peaceful sanctuary, but it’s just a short stroll to the nearest restaurants and shops.

Coastal Rhapsody

Nature meets luxury at this stunning Berkshire Mountain retreat. Just twenty minutes from Great Barrington and with hiking trails all around, this home is an idyllic escape from the hustle and bustle. Set in 167 private acres, this home has everything you could wish for. Admire mountain views from the hot tub on the sun deck, unwind in the spa area – complete with a steam room, infrared sauna, and cold plunge – or enjoy a tipple from the main bedroom’s wine bar. Your host can arrange for a chef to whip up feasts in the chef’s kitchen and order custom kegs for the kegerator. The open-concept living areas – with floor-to-ceiling windows – make socialising a dream. This home is perfect for a large family gathering.

The Berkshires Splendour

Riverside Modern

For the ultimate Montauk escape with style and character in abundance, this fisherman's cottage has you covered. Flamingo-pink shutters and the front door set the scene for a stay that's thoughtfully stylish, charming and quirky – a blend of boho and rustic that's sophisticated and easy to love. The white-beamed ceiling, pink accents and mix of raw wood and design pieces makes for a look you'll want to replicate in your own home. This cottage just feels very at home in this neighbourhood, with a colourful living room drenched in natural light and a surf-shack motif in the bedroom, complete with surfboards and dreamcatchers adorning the walls. If the personal touches didn't already make this home, the location definitely does – you're a five-minute walk from popular eateries and Downtown Montauk, not to mention Fort Pond, the train station and nearby beach.

Long Story Short

A handsome log cabin in the Berkshires countryside, this house earns its keep on a crisp evening when the wood-burning fireplace is lit and the vaulted living room frames nothing but open sky through its wide windows. Come morning, rolling green hills stretch across the horizon from the elevated deck – a strong argument for lingering over breakfast rather than making plans. When the whole group is ready to gather, the long dining table and outdoor terrace do the job with ease. Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, the Norman Rockwell Museum, and Hancock Shaker Village are all within reach for days that call for something beyond the view.

Berkshire Hearthside

This riverfront home is the kind of getaway we dream of every day. The infinity pool and views of the Hudson River are magnificent – just imagine how calming it is to wake up to views of this calibre every day. Inside, it feels incredibly warm and welcoming, making it perfect for family gatherings and spending time with your loved ones. The screened porch was extremely inviting, it’s the kind of place that inspires you to slow down. While there’s a lot to love about this home, we couldn’t get enough of the garden – manicured and green, it also boasts an infinity pool.
