There's nowhere that says New York living quite like a loft – it's as New York as skyscrapers, Times Square and Central Park, and this stylish place in hip Tribeca is a classic example. All the typical elements are here – we're talking an open, spacious living space with high ceilings, towering columns, huge windows and wooden floors.

What sets this home apart from others, though, is its fabulous art collection and many pieces from luminary designers such as Gerrit Rietveld and Sori Yanagi, as well as light sculptures by Marrow Project. We could certainly tell on viewing that this apartment is owned by a creative director and designer. Select a bottle from the wine cooler, choose one of the books off the well-stocked shelves and relax in style.

You can really live like a local in this home's location as well. This Lower Manhattan neighbourhood is known for its cobblestone streets lined with fashionable boutiques and chic restaurants or soak up the atmosphere in nearby China Town. Oh, yes and if you're a film buff, you can get your fill with the Tribeca Film Festival, held here every June.




Sculpted by Light

This apartment is a truly unique space, offering you the chance to fully embrace the trendy Brooklyn lifestyle. Whether you're in the city to work, see friends, or simply enjoy New York's intoxicating atmosphere, you'll love using this gorgeous spot as your home base. 

Step inside, and you'll find a bright space filled with eclectic furniture and one-of-a-kind artworks. Spend some time admiring the sculptures and paintings, before picking a book from the impressive selection and flopping down on the sofa to read. If you need to catch up on your emails, then there's a desk space you can use for work, and the wine fridge will cool a bottle of your favourite vintage ready for an evening tipple. 

The surrounding neighbourhood of Bed-Stuy is similarly special – lined with historic brownstone townhouses, there is a fantastic mix of cultures to explore in this corner of Brooklyn. Guests seeking an authentic side to NYC will love exploring this area and its many cool, contemporary restaurants and cafes. And, if you want to head into Manhattan, just jump on the subway at Nostrand Avenue station to travel there in around twenty minutes. 

Blue Hour

From the moment you step inside this New York loft apartment, you can tell the owners are an artist and a chef. The huge, open living area has a gourmet-level kitchen and light floods in from a wall of windows, plus there's an incredible art and design collection. One bedroom is a little small but both are perfectly comfortable and the vast loft-style living area makes up for it. You’re in the heart of Tribeca here where the movie-set-like cast iron loft buildings are home to endless restaurants, bars and even food markets. Plus, the Lower East Side is right next door. 

The Artist's Loft

Built in 1796, this red-brick townhouse is one of the oldest houses in New York City. While the exterior is a beautiful example of Federal architecture, the interior is all modernity with a sleek gourmet kitchen to please the fussiest of chefs and a huge main bedroom with a free-standing tub in the loft. Those working remotely can make use of the dedicated office room and there are additional workstations in some of the bedrooms. There’s plenty of room to spread out between the main lounge, the movie room downstairs and the private backyard furnished with a dining table. 

Manhattan Max

Experience one of New York's trendiest areas from this eclectic loft, nestled in the heart of Soho. With a well-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and dining table, there's potential for eating in, but the cafes and restaurants lining the streets just outside your doorstep might convince you otherwise. Try a different one every day between visiting Rockefeller Park, Washington Square Park and China Town.  There's plenty else to see within walking distance, but the public transport links nearby can also get you to The Empire State Building or Manhattan Park in minutes.  That's a thumb's up on location – now throw in light-letting oversized windows, plenty of space and an office, and you're onto something.

Bauhaus Quarters

This apartment is ideally suited to those looking to drop their bags and head out from the get-go. Its major draw is the fabulous location, placing you in the thick of NYC. Just a short walk away you'll reach the iconic Flatiron Building, the Empire State Building, and Union Square – though this does mean that some noise should be expected. Inside, it's surprisingly spacious for a studio flat, with a kitchen and dining area tucked neatly around the corner. There's a sofa bed for flexible sleeping, but we only recommend this for younger children. 

The Artful Zen

Situated on a one-way street in the heart of Greenwich Village that Eleonor Roosevelt once called home, this six-storey Romanesque Revival building makes for a classic New York home from home.

Inside, the spacious apartment blends original nineteenth-century features and modern finishes offering a breathtaking fusion of styles. An open-plan living room/kitchen provides direct access to the outdoors via a balcony, alongside expansive views over downtown. So there's plenty of space to come together and socialise, whether you're stretched out on the sofa or preparing dinner in the handcrafted kitchen. 

Elsewhere, the bedrooms offer a haven of zen-like calm in the middle of Manhattan, with walk-in wardrobes and a Carrara marble en-suite off the main bedroom, adding a touch of luxury. Head upstairs, and you'll uncover a rooftop terrace that offers direct southern vistas over Washington Square Park, MacDougal Alley and the Empire State Building. 

Down at street level, the delights of Greenwich Village await. Undoubtedly Manhattan's most charming neighbourhood, it's attracted the city's quirky and creative types since the sixties. Uproarious comedy clubs and excellent restaurants make it a real nighttime destination, but there's plenty to do during daylight hours. Stroll half a block to the much-loved Washington Square Park, lay out on Pier 45, or wander up to Chelsea Market for cuisine from every part of the globe – both fifteen minutes away.

Macdougal Lofts

Located in trendy Williamsburg, you'll have plenty of hip bars and indie shops nearby, while the ferry over to Manhattan is well within reach. The apartment itself is modern and practical, with everything needed for a comfortable stay. There's a desk if you need to work remotely, while the uncluttered bedrooms are ideal for decompressing after sightseeing. The compact kitchen is well-equipped for preparing light bites and quick meals, but when dinnertime arrives we recommend heading out and sampling the local eateries nearby. 

The Whisper

Situated on a quiet residential street in Williamsburg, where upscale shopping, casual cafes and hip restaurants all vie for your attention, you're likely to forget that this peaceful spot far removed from the tourists and crowds, is in fact, ten minutes away from the bustle of Downtown NYC on the subway. 

With the waterfront Domino Park and the conveniently located Bedford L stop nearby, plenty of indie boutiques and lively bars right on your doorstep, and Bedford's shops only a three-minute stroll away, you're perfectly positioned to enjoy Brooklyn. Plus, the vibrant melting pot that is Lower Manhattan – Greenwich Village, Tribeca and the Financial District are easily reachable from this desired location. 

Curated by a creative host with a home-like approach to her apartment, you’ll immediately notice the artistic touch that’s been given to this bright space – from the zebra-print rug to the designer dining table, teeming bookshelves and beautiful pieces of modern art. Sky-high ceilings and tall casement-style windows create a bright and airy living space, giving you a great view of the tree-lined streets below. 

We particularly love the smart open-plan set-up, which allows you to pull up a chair at the island and perch with your morning coffee, hashing out an itinerary as breakfast cooks away in the designer kitchen, or perhaps you'll start the day with a gentle read in the comfort of the leather sofas. But, don't stay inside too long, there's plenty to see and do all around. 

Between the Brownstones

This luxurious home is a Gramercy Park gem. Step from the tree-lined block to a world of style and elegance, accessed via a grand staircase. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you take in the 12-foot-tall ceilings, marble staircase, and piano in the parlour. The chef’s kitchen, which leads to a deck with direct access to a private landscaped garden space, is a splendid spot for gathering together, whether you’re a keen home cook or prefer to order in. The rest of this beautiful home unfolds over three floors – there’s no chance of feeling crowded here. 

Gramercy Goals

We love this stylish home's location in hip Tribeca, a neighbourhood known for its cobblestone streets lined with fashionable boutiques and chic restaurants. Chinatown is a twenty-minute walk or eight-minute ride, while the One World Trade Centre is eight minutes on foot. The iconic Empire State building is a fifteen-minute drive (just over twenty minutes on the bicycles your lovely host Yvonne provides), or if you fancy some green space, Washington Market Park is a mere two-minute stroll.

Back at this apartment, head up to the gorgeous, private roof terrace and take in the views over the Freedom Tower. Inside, textural 3D artworks adorn the walls, and dark oak floors are enlivened with colourful rugs and furnishings. For the kids, there's a fantastic play area with plenty of toys, books and games. There's a home cinema set up too. Our favourite feature, though, has to be the swing in the living area – so random and yet so right. This playful home is perfect for a family.
