This apartment is ideally suited to those looking to drop their bags and head out from the get-go. Its major draw is the fabulous location, placing you in the thick of NYC. Just a short walk away you'll reach the iconic Flatiron Building, the Empire State Building, and Union Square – though this does mean that some noise should be expected. Inside, it's surprisingly spacious for a studio flat, with a kitchen and dining area tucked neatly around the corner. There's a sofa bed for flexible sleeping, but we only recommend this for younger children.

There are two things in this loft apartment in the Gramercy Park neighbourhood that you might not typically expect to see. The first is a baby grand piano (how did they get it up to the top storey is what we want to know), the second is the resident cat called Edith. Previous guests will attest to the fact that her presence is completely stress-free and even adds to the cosy factor when you're lounging about. This home has obviously been designed by somebody with an artistic outlook, as the walls are covered in prints and the shelves are jam-packed with books. Although we're guessing you didn't come to The Big Apple to just read. Go out the front door and you're on Park Avenue, right in the middle of Manhattan. Walk twenty minutes to your right and you'll reach the Chrysler Building, Ten minutes in the other direction will get you to the farmers' market at Union Square.

This home has been designed solely as a rental space, so it’s lacking in some of the warmth and character you would find in a personal home. But we were won over with the large size of the bedrooms and the sociable, open-plan communal area. The location is also very convenient as it is very central and easy to get around to different parts of the city. There is not much around the home in terms of nightlife, so it might be better suited for a family vacation.

The kitchen isn’t short of space either, with a pendant-lamp lit island creating a social space during mealtimes, but there are plenty of restaurants and bars in the area if you want to eat out – you’re in the beating centre of New York after all. When the time comes to hit the hay, each bedroom has a king- or queen-size bed and each one has its own walk-in wardrobe so there’s no need to pack light.

The white leather sofa was made for reclining and looks like the kind of piece a 1950s sci-fi author would dream up. While the galley kitchen is tucked away behind an alcove and has everything you need for self-catering.

In the building, you’ve got access to a stunning roof terrace, lush with greenery and with a view over the tops of skyscrapers to the river and beyond. If you want to keep on top of your fitness schedule, guests here have access to a fully-equipped gym too.

In Murray Hill, you’ve got buzzing eateries and shops galore on your doorstep. Strolling along East 34th Street you can reach the Empire State Building in fifteen minutes on foot letting you know just how central you are here.

This home is small – there's no way around it. What makes it stand out though is its efficient use of space and how the mid-century furniture creates a clean and simple look, making the space feel homely but not too busy. The bathroom has been recently renovated, although there are some scuff marks on the walls, and the kitchen is also of a high standard, albeit small. The best part is the outdoor deck, which is as big as the entire home and has tonnes of seating, so you can spend long evenings drinking wine with your friends.

Marvel at the Empire State Building or catch a game at Madison Square Gardens – both under a ten-minute walk away. Or, browse Dover Street Market, a one minute saunter from here, for its cool clothing and gourmet café. That's breakfast and lunch covered – there are many fine dining options within walking distance for dinner too. If you don't fancy eating out or cooking in, it's just a two-minute walk to the local deli, so take some goodies back and enjoy in this home's giant back garden. However, you don't have to go anywhere for vistas over the district, as this apartment has a shared landscaped roof deck with views across the city. Inside there's a nicely-sized kitchen for when you want to entertain and a desk in the main bedroom for catching up on work. Seeing as this is 'the city that never sleeps', though, expect to hear some noise during your stay.

Is there anything more quintessentially New York than exposed brick walls? We don't think so, and this studio flat in Gramercy Park delivers on that front. This apartment may be snug, but it has plenty of style – we're obsessed with the orange sofa, for instance – and the space is super cosy. There's even a patio with a lush outdoor sofa and a picnic table, which is rare for this part of town. When the weather is nice, sit out there with a glass of wine and soak up the sunshine, whiling away the sultry summer evenings. We're not going to deny that the kitchen is pretty compact, but that's all part of the charm of living like a true New Yorker. It's well-stocked with everything you need, but seeing as space is tight, we think you'll lean towards dining out. If that's the case, you're in luck – Gramercy Park has an array of upscale eateries and trendy bars for you to try. Also nearby is the farmer's market at Union Square – a fifteen-minute walk – which has fresh fruit and veg if you decide to rustle up a meal. This is a quieter spot, but it's still close to all the sights – you can walk to Times Square in half an hour, but 23rd Street Station is a ten-minute stroll if you'd rather take the subway.

We're not going to pretend this home is filled with character, but what it does have is a prime NYC location. On the edge of Murray Hill, this is one of the city's oldest and most charming neighborhoods. The tree-lined streets are filled with brownstone townhouses, and you're within easy walking distance of Times Square, the Empire State Building, and Grand Central Station. If you’re looking for a night on the town, walk a few minutes to Third Avenue for great restaurants and bars. Back at your studio apartment, it's a small but very well-presented space. A great deal of care has been into the choice of modern, comfortable furnishings and the kitchen is fully kitted-out for cooking at home. Best of all, this building has excellent communal amenities – there's a pool if you feel like a few laps, along with a gym, a billiards room and a guest lounge.

This New York apartment on East 34th Street is close to the East River, which you can see from your window. Why not start each day with a bagel from the cafe that is a short two-minute walk from your home, and while you eat it, plan out your day in the city that never sleeps? 

Much of what New York City has to offer is within walking distance from this home, including, the Chrysler Building – a short sixteen-minute walk away, and the Empire State Building, which is a short fifteen-minute walk away. Ascend to the top of the Empire State Building and admire the city from above. Or, take a quick eight-minute cab journey to admire the city from the Rockefeller city, instead, providing a different perspective of Manhattan from the top of the rock. What’s more, the One World Observatory and the 9/11 memorial are just eleven minutes away from this apartment by car.

Bright, fresh and tastefully decorated throughout, you’ll feel at ease as soon as you step through the door. The living space has enough room for entertaining if you wish to have a couple of friends over for dinner and the sumptuously dressed king-sized bed calls for early nights and late starts. You’ve access to an on-site gym and shared roof terrace – it’s extra special when dusk falls. In your Murray Hill neighbourhood, there are countless bars and restaurants catering to all cravings. Plus, the Empire State Building and iconic Fifth Avenue are just a thirteen-minute walk away. 

Blue Orchid

This location is hard to beat – located between Chelsea and Greenwich Village, you’ll have New York’s cultural institutions and acclaimed restaurants at your fingertips. There’s a balcony for sipping your morning coffee, though this central locale isn’t the most peaceful as you might expect. The interiors are modern and perfectly practical for a city break – your host provides a full working setup too, should you be visiting on business. The kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances, though we’re sure you'll want to sample the neighbourhood spots on your doorstep.

Chelsea Charms

Located in Midtown, just three blocks away from the Empire State Building, this studio style apartment may not win any design prizes, but would make a perfectly pleasant base for guests wanting to stay in this part of town. The main room is lovely and light, and we particularly like the old wood floors too. 

The Globe Pad

Newly renovated, this home boasts modern furnishings and a charming interior. It may be on the small side, but it’s got the ease and cleanliness of a perfect vacation rental, especially in a city where we reckon you’ll be spending most of your time out and about. Your host is also super experienced and will be available should you need anything during your trip. This isn’t the most exciting neighbourhood in the city, but its proximity to many vibrant areas makes it super convenient and offers a place of refuge after a busy day (or night).  

Strathclyde

Clean and modest – the design in this apartment won’t blow you away, but it’s got everything you need. From the large windows, you have a fantastic view of the East River and some of New York’s infamous high rises. The building itself offers a roof terrace and a fitness centre, which are available to guests. And if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to spend most of your time out and about anyway. 

The Lion's Den

Sure, this is a sizeable space with nice amenities but the real draw here is your view! From every bedroom, you have stupefying, unimpeded, 19th floor views of the Empire State Building. You don't even have to leave your home to capture some of the most iconic shots of the city. The decor might be a bit generic but your stay will be all the more enhanced by a full serviced building with gym and laundry facilities in-house.  




Gold Buds

Stay in prime Midtown with this freshly renovated home. It’s just under twenty minutes on foot to one of New York’s most famous landmarks, the Empire State Building, or Madame Tussauds New York is just over a five-minute stroll. Fashionistas, on the other hand, can head to the Garment District, home to the biggest concentration of fashion designers and manufacturers in the USA – just a four-minute wander. After all that sightseeing, you’ll need somewhere super comfy to chill out in – this apartment is perfect. We love the luxurious touches such as velvet curtains and the marble countertops, as well as the artworks dotted around this abode. Back inside, we really loved the exposed red brick that makes the home feel like a quintessential brownstone found in the Upper West Side. Stepping in to look around, you'll notice an individual colour scheme for each bedroom, tasteful artwork and elegant ghost chairs around a sleek white dining table. Everything you need for a sweet bite of the Big Apple. 

The Pontiac

Situated perfectly between the Hudson River Park and Central Park, this cosy apartment in Hell's Kitchen is a great place to stay to be centrally located to some of NYC's most beloved spots without the chaos of Midtown Manhattan. Walk to the neon-lit billboards of Times Square in fifteen minutes, ascend to the Top of the Rock, a sixteen-minute yellow cab ride away, and visit the Empire State Building in that same amount of time on foot. This spot is sure to have you spoilt for choice when comprising the trip's tourist itinerary list. Back home, return to a bright and colourfully decorated open-plan living space for a well-needed lie-down on the sofa. The apartment benefits from tasteful artwork and an industrial-chic style with exposed red brick walls in just about every room – spot the vintage James Dean print and vibrant cushions as you wander into the bedrooms. So, if a more residential area, brimming with restaurants, bars and shopping, that's away from the flocks of excited tourists is what you're after, look no further.

With the mighty East River flowing right below you, you’ll be riding high on the waves of New York City living in this stylish apartment. When you’re not hanging out at home, go out and explore your surroundings. You couldn’t be better placed to visit some of the city’s most iconic sights, including the Chrysler and Empire State buildings (both a fifteen-minute walk away), the United Nations Headquarters (ten minutes away on foot) and Grand Central Station (a twenty-minute stroll away). While it has a very cool, New York vibe with its exposed brick and crittall windows, the real draw of this cosy apartment is its fantastic location. Located in the heart of Hell's Kitchen, not only are you immersed in the neighbourhood's kicking culinary scene brimming with fine-dining restaurants, hip bars and trendy cafés, but you're in a quieter, more residential area of NYC, away from the hustle and bustle of Midtown Manhattan. And yet, only a sixteen-minute walk from the Empire State Building and a fifteen-minute wander to the world's most visited tourist attraction – Times Square. When – full of pizza, cheesecake and skyline views from the Top of the Rock – you do eventually tick everything off your day's itinerary list and return home, you'll find a bright and colourful apartment awaiting you. Put your feet up on the L-shaped sofa or whip up a couple of lite bites to eat around the industrial-chic dining table – complete with quirky pink chairs that we really loved. Both bedrooms benefit from unique artwork and even more vibrant scatter cushions, so there's no fighting over who gets which room.

This incredible penthouse apartment in the NoMad area of Manhattan is in a prime location to see all the sights and attractions on offer in the city that never sleeps. Plus, it offers space that you will rarely see in this city. A large indoor living area offers an ample kitchen with a breakfast bar, plenty of comfortable sofa seating, an office space with a fireplace to catch up on your work, and even a walk-in wardrobe to store all your shopping from Macy’s and Time’s Square – a twenty-three-minute walk away.

Plenty of Manhattan’s bucket list attractions are also nearby, with the East River reachable in twenty minutes on foot. The Empire State Building is only a short ten-minute walk away, or for a different view from above the city, the Rockefeller Center is reachable in twenty-seven minutes on foot. 

The home’s crowning glory, however, is the private rooftop terrace where you can enjoy your morning bagel with stunning views of the cityscape, including catching a glimpse of the top of the Empire State Building – which is a short fifteen-minute walk from here. The rooftop terrace also has comfortable seating under a shaded awning surrounded by plants, perfect for relaxing with a good book when you need a break from exploring the city. Plus, why not take a dip in the plunge pool on warmer days, and then dry off in front of the roaring fire? We would also love to return to the rooftop at night to cook on the barbecue and enjoy our meals alfresco accompanied by the fantastic panoramas and the sounds of the bustling city below.
