Surrounded by The Twelve Apostles mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, this colonial home in Camps Bay's best feature might be the large sash windows that create the illusion of being right in the water. Take advantage of that by watching the tide change from the striped wing chairs, or grab a book from the small library and sink into the brown leather sofa – with the windows open, of course, you want to hear the lapping waves beyond. 

Get the coffee dripping first thing in the morning and once breakfast has been prepared, you can take it all out on the sun terrace where to eat alfresco. Breathe in the fresh, sea salt air from your position on the sunlouger, take a dip in the clear, solar-heated swimming pool, and when lunch inevitably comes around, be sure to try South Africa’s favourite pastime, the braai. If you’re not up for barbecuing, you can of course sample the eateries of the area. There are a couple of restaurants and cafes around a five-minute walk away. 

Spend sundrenched days at the beach – there are plenty of options to explore along the coast, including the famous Clifton Beach. Swim in the Camps Bay Tidal Pool, only a short walk away, or pick any one of the tens of hiking trails around – Lion’s Head is an especially popular choice and the starting point is only seven minutes away by car. 

After a long, tiring day, soak in a bubble bath with a glass of wine in hand. Afterward, why not sit out under the stars with koeksisters or peppermint crisp tart and end the day on a sweet note?

With Beta Beach a stone’s throw away and the famous Camp’s Bay strip not much further, you can spend sunshine days laying back on the sand as you listen to the waves lapping the shore. 

Get in touch with nature by hiking one of the many trails in the surrounding area or visiting the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. When you’re not eating fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants, take to the sleek kitchen – the family gathered around the kitchen island to nibble as you go – and prepare a simple meal with the fresh produce available. 

Spend your time admiring the natural landscape from the balcony – whether that happens to be in the plunge pool or whilst nursing a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. Head out to find yourself in a lovely neighbourhood, close to the picturesque beaches and with easy access to the centre of Cape Town. Some views really have to be seen to be believed and that's the case with the gorgeous ocean panorama enjoyed from this modern home in Camps Bay. As you would hope, there's lots of outdoor space in which you can just sit and gawp, as well as a few extra-special sea-facing amenities, too – who could resist a dip in the hot tub or swimming pool with that backdrop? There are several vantage points inside, as well as a few more features to make your stay that bit more memorable, including a games room and gym. To top it all off, Camps Bay Beach is only a short drive away, too.

Perched just above Camps Bay, you're going to struggle to find a home with a better location than this in Cape Town – or anywhere on the rest of the globe for that matter. Step out onto the terrace and you're greeted with a glorious view of white sands, rolling waves and the Table Mountain range in the distance.

With scenery this stunning, you can see why the architect went for floor-to-ceiling glass windows in the main living area rather than walls. This decision also means that this space is treated to bountiful amounts of natural light, making it a lovely spot in which to relax. We're huge fans of the contemporary design throughout, especially the minimalist kitchen and colourful artworks adorning the walls.

The home even has a surprise up its sleeve in the shape of the plunge pool accessed from one of the bedrooms, offering a wonderfully cooling way to deal with the South African summer months. If you're visiting during the cooler seasons, the large freestanding tub in the master bathroom steps up to the plate instead.

As you can probably guess from the panorama, it doesn't take long to reach the beach – in fact, you can be standing on the sand in no more than three minutes on foot. It also only takes five minutes to drive over to the Table Mountain National Park, in which you'll find a wealth of hiking routes and vantage points. Cape Town's City Centre is just over ten minutes away in the car, too.

This cosy little apartment is the perfect pad for a Cape Town break near the beach. This home is just 100 metres from Camps Bay Beach, so you can almost smell the sea air when you wake up each day and open up the Juliet balcony doors. 

A soft, neutral colour palette means that this home is calm, an ideal place to call home when visiting a city as lively as Cape Town. You’ll sleep well in the comfortable beds, and have everything you need to relax right at your fingertips. There’s even a small garden where you can soak up the sun.

You’re never far from your next great meal here, with a wealth of bars, restaurants and cafes just around the corner on Victoria Road. There’s also a lovely kitchen in the apartment, so you can easily whip up pancakes for breakfast to set you up for a day of sightseeing. With glass balustrades so nothing gets in the way of your vista, it's the showstopper at this place near Robyn's Beach but it's far from the only thing we love about it. There's a superb private pool too, and a state-of-the-art home cinema system so you can screen some of your favourites in comfort.

Inside, this stylish home is all about bright whites and contemporary furnishings – think glossy kitchen units, a striking modern dining table and a big leather sofa. The open layout in the living space makes it perfect for socialising and a wall of sliding patio doors opens it up to the magnificent terrace, where you'll find a barbecue, an outdoor dining table and comfy seating – not to mention sea views you may find it hard to drag yourself away from.

From here it's just a short walk or drive to the rocky coast, Beta Beach or Camps Bay Tidal Pool, or head just a little further to the superb, sandy Camps Bay Beach. Table Mountain and the city centre are within easy reach by car too.

It's easy to imagine long days where you don't stray far from this spot. Back inside, a fully equipped kitchen should be capable of handling anything you can throw at it, with a glass-topped dining table and built-in corner sofa rounding out the offering. 

Upstairs, the main bedroom is the pick of the bunch and boasts a private balcony that makes the most of the elevated location, plus an in-room bathtub. Two further double bedrooms share a bathroom, and look out over the rugged mountain scenery to the back side of the property.

If you can tear yourself away, the pristine white sand and beachside tidal pool of Camps Bay Beach are approximately 3km from your front door. A beachside promenade lined with bars and restaurants makes it the perfect 'dip and dine' destination, and means you don't have to think ahead when it comes to stocking up on supplies for the following day's beach picnic.

Sandwiched between the sea and mountains, you'll also find a selection of challenging hikes through nearby Table Mountain National Park. However, for that iconic Cape Town photo from the top of the mountain, you'll need to drive the 3.5km to Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, which will whisk you up the mountain in around five minutes.
