There's nothing shy or retiring about this Swiss chalet, where bigger is better. Set against a backdrop of towering peaks and dramatic vistas, this home has taken some of that theatre to heart. The living room is huge, with a gigantic fuchsia sofa that could fit your party – and then some – in front of a feature brick fireplace. The kitchen is well-equipped with traditional goodies, including a fondue set and raclette grill, providing fodder for epic feasts. The slopes are only 100m away – the ski lift is a kilometre away – meaning competent skiers can strap up and just speed off on a day's adventure. Big baths await to soak tired muscles in bedrooms and bathrooms, our favourite being the stretched tub in the master suite – we're pretty sure there's room for two. If you're visiting in summer, a spacious garden and terrace furniture is perfect for catching the sunset, and if you need a break from all that cheese, you can fire up the barbecue.
