Porta Monforte isn’t as well known as many of the other gates around the city walls - indeed, the structure itself is long gone. The quarter now has a mixture of wide, tree-lined boulevards and smaller streets, all fairly well planned - this isn’t like the warren of alleyways you’ll find in Carrobbio. It also can’t match the nightlife of Navigli or Brera, despite having a few wonderful bars and restaurants. However, that isn’t to say that Porta Monforte isn’t central (in less that ten minutes you can be in the shadow of the Duomo), and with its excellent transport links, it’s a great location for those who want to stay just beyond the fray.
