Top 20 Meatpacking District, New York vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
The namesake meat factories of the trendy Meatpacking District are almost all gone, but you can still sense the industrial history of this tiny west-side district in its cobblestone streets and converted brick warehouses. Nowadays, it’s one of Manhattan’s hippest hangouts, crammed with luxury fashion boutiques, trendy cocktail bars and exclusive nightclubs. The standout cultural attraction is the newly relocated and Renzo Piano-designed Whitney Museum of American Art, showcasing work by Edward Hopper and Alexander Calder among many others. It’s also the starting point of the High Line, an elevated urban park set on a disused railway track which runs north into Chelsea. If you’d rather explore on two wheels, hire a bike from a Citibike dock and hit the Hudson River Greenway; there’s 11 miles of uninterrupted cycle track along the waterfront.
