Perfect for families, the lakeside home is spread across three separate buildings, with more than one kitchen and multiple living spaces. You can spend time together en masse before breaking off into smaller groups for kayaking excursions, table football tournaments, and workouts in the outdoor gym. Your host can even arrange access to a boat and a Fiat 500 so you can explore the lake beaches and restaurants of nearby Lugano and Porlezza. 

Lugano Lullaby

If you’re looking for a home with a view, then how about this apartment, which has captivating Lake Como vistas from its small balcony? Inside, the open-plan living space sleeps two guests on a sofa bed at full capacity. We love the outlook from the dining table here, too – at this home, you can create wonderful memories. Set in the town of Menaggio with its lakeside promenade, you’ll have plenty to occupy your time or go for a scenic hike in the nearby mountains. With its fantastic location, this apartment is the perfect retreat.

Lakeside Chic

On the slopes of Lake Como, this villa is a short drive from the village of Colico (7 kilometres away) and the buzzing lakeside town of Varenna (14 kilometres away). The garden backs onto the lakeside, and you’ve got a view of the glassy water from the swimming pool and private hot tub – perfect after a day of watersports on the lake. Dining and sunning terraces take in the beautiful view from all levels. Inside, big windows in the bedrooms let you wake to a lake view. There’s a certain charm to the 1960s decor and the kitchen is sleek and modern – it comes pre-stocked with groceries and you'll be welcomed with a complimentary dinner. 

The Lady of Lombardy

Ideal for solo adventurers and couples alike, this brand-new home is centrally located in the lakeside resort of Locarno. From ancient Roman history to action-packed mountain sports – and an art-filled pilgrimage church – finding sophistication on your doorstep has never been easier.

You will arrive at a bright apartment, kept clean by its white walls and minimalist interior design. Have a lie-in before preparing a traditional breakfast in your spotless kitchen. With a morning coffee in hand, you will enjoy scenic views from this balcony. Later, why not explore a good hiking trail or ascend the slopes by cable car? 

Less than half a mile away from here, you can go water skiing on Lago Maggiore. After that, try cheese fondue in one of the many local restaurants. Then, come back and warm up with underfloor heating – perfect for chilly winter breaks in this city. At the lamp-lit desk, you can even check your work emails before drifting off to sleep in a comfortable bed.

Set You Free

The double-height living room of this cute and compact apartment has a wall of picture-frame windows, showing off a breathtaking mountain view. Head out to the private balcony in all its traditional ski-chalet splendour for an evening tipple in the fresh alpine air.  An interior of pinewood eaves, a chalet-style kitchen and lightwood flooring blend in with the evergreen forests that cloak the mountains outside, and there’s a comfortable murphy bed that can be pulled down in the living room for additional guests. Just outside the building, a cross-country ski trail takes you past stunning alpine vistas and in the town of Lenzerheide you’ll find a handful of ski lifts to whisk you up to the slopes – the closest being a ten-minute walk away. Part of a hotel complex (but totally self-contained), guests here have access to the outdoor thermal pool with its water fountains, a shared indoor swimming pool and the hotel’s boot and equipment room.    

My Favourite Things

Tucked away in the heart of Parpan, this renovated apartment is a perfect base for exploring Switzerland’s great outdoors all year around. Ski the slopes of Lenzerheide when winter falls, hike mountain trails in summer, or simply enjoy the alpine air with a coffee from the comfort of your own balcony. It’s a functional yet welcoming spot with everything you need to feel at home after a day surrounded by nature. The mountain views also get a big thumbs up from us.

Mountain View Haven

When it comes to a stay on the slopes, you can’t get much more charming or convenient than this chic chalet-style home. The white walls and natural woods of the interior design are as pretty as the Swiss mountains outside, and if you fancy a glimpse of the real thing, just step out onto your private balcony and take in the view of the slopes. During the summer months you can hit the hiking trails, and in the winter there’s a free shuttle bus to the ski runs of Corviglia Piz Nair, where you can shred some powder. Or you could just grab a hot chocolate, bundle up on the sofa, and spend the day watching the snowflakes drift down over the peaks – we won't judge you, the view is utterly incredible. 

A Real Corker

Just a five-minute walk (or a quick bus trip) from the centre of this prestigious ski village, this immaculate apartment has class written all over it. Part of a traditional-style chalet, it's warm, cosy and the host has thought of everything to make your stay a delight. From the Adirondack chairs on the wrap-around balcony you can gaze across rooftops, hills and snow-covered pines all the way to the Silvretta glacier. If you're here to ski, which is most likely, you can walk to the Gotschna cable car in about seven minutes – and choose to leave your kit either down there or in the boot room of your building. Inside, it's chocolate-box pretty, with a beautiful log fireplace, comfy soft furnishings and a huge corner sofa to relax on – all the while taking in that view. South facing and flooded with natural light, it's a bright and uplifting place to call home. Keen cooks will be pleased to note the kitchen has only the finest appliances and there's a sociable round dining table to spend your evenings sitting around with friends or family. 



Glacier Cherry

This delightful wooden home sits a short walk from the shores of Lake Como, in the pretty town of Colico. It’s a fifteen minute walk to the Colico ferry pier where you can hop on a water taxi to beautiful lakeside town like Varenna and Bellagio. Or, head away from the lakeside to discover the area’s hiking trails into the mountains, past castle ruins and old mills.

The home has an eco-friendly vibe with solar panels on the roof and the facade of a clapboard cabin. Set in a wooden deck, even the swimming pool feels natural. Admire the mountains rising around you from the comfort of a sun lounger, or set up for long lazy lunches at the poolside table, shaded by a parasol. Inside, the lounge is flooded with sunlight from two walls of glass, and the reclaimed wood walls and floors continue the eco theme. There’s a mid-century feel to the dine-in kitchen and a second seating area is designed for teenagers and kids to hang out upstairs. Our favourite touch is the den, where a wooden bar and foosball table provide the fun and gym equipment the workout.  

Eco Warrior

If you want the best of Lake Como at your feet, this Bellano historic centre gem wins hands down. The apartment is mere steps from the lakeside squares for people watching and sundowners, and when it's time to head upstream to Menaggio, Bellagio, and beyond, the ferry port is just 200 metres from your door. Back home, the handsome palazzo exteriors make all the right first impressions. It's worth noting that if six of you share, the last two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living area. There's also no outdoor space to speak of here. But the views of Bellano's rooftops and church tower from the bedroom are a lovely touch.

Lake Como Serenity

In the centre of Lenzerheide, a charming alpine village, you'll find this smart apartment. It ticks all the boxes for guests looking for a fabulous mountain getaway – with stunning views and cosy furnishings, it's the perfect place to begin your excursions. 

You'll love the chic, contemporary interiors, with solid oak floors and stylish silhouettes. There's no better place to rest your legs after a busy day in the great outdoors than on the squashy sofa – light up the fire and get toasty. And, there's even a fabulous loggia space, so you can gaze out towards the Scalottas and plan your next adventure. Plus, you can even arrange to visit the building's hammam area, for even more relaxation. 

During the ski season, you can walk to the nearest ski lift or hop on the bus from the stop across the road, which will take you to some of the other nearby stations. If you're visiting during the warmer months, you can join one of the local walking trails for an invigorating hike through the dramatic Swiss landscapes. And, with mountain bike tracks, a bathing lake, and a golf course all within easy reach, you're unlikely to run out of things to do here.

This cosy Swiss apartment is perfect for ski-loving families. With cosy wooden interiors, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, and a big bathtub, you'll have everything you need to feel at home. There's even a small garden area for you to enjoy a morning coffee. As part of a hotel building, you'll get access to shared facilities like a swimming pool, spa and hammam, alongside bike storage and ski storage. There's plenty to do in the area, like skiing in the winter and lake activities in the summer. There's also a range of restaurants, bars and cafés right around the corner.
