A thoroughly down-to-earth home positioned a fifteen-minute walk from the Nova Icària beach, this apartment is effortlessly cool and utterly relaxing. We couldn’t get enough of the exposed brickwork, original ceiling beams, muted hues and abundant house plants. Furniture has been hand-selected for both style and function – tuck into homemade tapas around the Scandi dining table or get comfy with a measure of local Penedés brandy on the L-shaped couch. Bedrooms are stripped-back yet cosy, so you can guarantee a peaceful sleep night after night. When you’re done sunning yourself on Barcelona’s sandy seashore, take the leisurely thirty-minute stroll into the evocative Gothic Quarter. Enjoy a pit stop en route in Ciutadella Park and chill out with a picnic by Gaudí’s fountain.

El Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou is a small neighbourhood outside of the old historical centre. Aside from easy access to the beaches, several successful startups call these streets their home, which gives you a good idea about the creative atmosphere and its residents. Madame Marina is a relaxed home with a beachside vibe. The furniture does show some wear and tear, but the appliances are all in great condition. The terrace is key to the atmosphere, especially on sunny days, where you can see for miles in all directions.

One look at that private terrace with sweeping views over Barcelona, and it's easy to see why this home caught our eye. Location-wise, you're right in the heart of vibrant Glòries. Don't miss the nearby mall with its long-standing flea market and upscale shops and eateries. Or hop over into neighbouring L'Eixample to hit the must-see sights. If we were being picky, though the kitchen is well-equipped, it could do with an interior refresh. It's also worth noting the second bedroom is pocket-sized with limited floor space. But we'll let that slide for a home with such impressive outdoor space.

We're willing to bet that you'll fall in love with this chic Barcelona apartment at first sight. With a fantastic range of amenities and a hefty dose of style, it's perfect for city slickers who are planning a wonderful stay in the Catalan capital.

Although this is a small home, we could tell that a lot of work has gone into making the best out of the square footage. The pinnacle of this effort is a panoramic window in the living room that opens up into the balcony. The furniture here is more of a backdrop than a statement, but that works quite well to maximise the space. Barcelona's most famous sights might not be in the immediate vicinity of Poblenou, but Bogatell beach is within walking distance.

Besides being close to the coast, you'll be well-placed to discover the area's live music nights, coffee shops, and delicious eateries – not to mention a short metro ride from the sights in the city centre. Well-equipped and stylish, this pad makes a fantastic base for families or friends. The kitchen has plenty of space to whip up Catalan classics and the desk in the bedroom is ideal for remote workers. Although one bedroom is a little snug and the bathrooms lack windows, it's still a great option for a Barcelona getaway.

Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

And when it comes to sightseeing, you don't have far to venture from your front door. The mighty Sagrada Familia is less than a quarter of an hour's walk, as is Parc de la Ciutadella in the opposite direction. You're especially well served by cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets, too.

We love the curated mix of antique pieces and minimalist furniture. The vaulted ceilings and original Juliet balconies create a lofty, airy feel to this space. Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. Your only conundrum will be deciding where to head first.

Cinder Rustico

Fabulously located in the heart of Eixample, within easy walking distance of many of Barcelona's key sights, with a beautiful living space full of lovely period details and a spacious master-bedroom with its own private terrace, this home is a delight. Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed!

In a traditional building, recently modernised with eco-conscious touches, this character apartment is set between the El Born and Eixample neighbourhoods. With sustainability in mind, the hosts have hand-picked recycled wood for the quirky kitchen cabinets, along with things like vintage glasses and upcycled armchairs. The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Ronda Universitat is close to Plaça Catalunya and the Modernist sights of Eixample. The central location of this convenient address is a great asset and if this is your first visit to Barcelona – it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy being within walking distance of all the best shops, restaurants, and cultural sights including Casa Batllo and Gaudi's other spectacular works of art (a ten-minute walk away). With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. And of course, if you do plan on venturing further afield in the city, you'll have bus stops and metro stations within less than five minutes reach too.

Velvet Willow

Two balconies – one at the front and one at the back of this apartment – provide beautiful views of the neighbourhood and you can even see a little bit of the sea on sunny days. Up on the top floor, natural light floods the rooms. The open living space in soft grey and teal velvet is particularly sunny. Glass doors lead out to the front terrace where waxy green banana leaves sprout from planters and dining is set for four. There’s a lazy hammock in the corner too, so you can take in that rooftop view all the way to the Sagrada Familia. You'll be able to plan your holiday from the comfort of the terrace as Barcelona spreads like a map before you. Located only minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, you'll have easy access to all parts of the city. 

Phrenology

In the Eixample district, eight minutes from Plaça de Catalunya, this flat offers an opulent stay in the city centre. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by style and sophistication – pristine tiled floors, a solid marble staircase, grand mahogany doors – and we’re only in the entrance hall of the building. Inside your home, a lavish theme continues. The furnishings are high-quality, modern pieces, and the colour scheme of the decor is rich and regal. We particularly love the deep crimson tiled bathroom and dark green feature walls. Pick up an art book from the shelf and have a flick through as you catch some rays on the balconette. From up here, the Urquinaona metro stop is so close you can almost see it – just one minute away, hop on to be whisked around the entire city. But there’s plenty to do on foot. See Gaudí’s masterpieces Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, a fifteen and twenty-minute walk respectively, on the elegant broadway of Passeig de Gràcia. You can hit some designer shops en route, before winding back to your locale for tapas and a glass of Spanish wine.

You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.

This stylish apartment, housed in a grand period building, has a fantastic address. Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a three-minute saunter, while it's a six-minute stroll to Paseo De Gracia with its museums and designer boutiques galore (Gucci, Chanel and Versace, amongst many others). Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, on the other hand, are a ten-minute walk away or visit one of Barcelona's most iconic attractions, the Sagrada Familia, just over twenty minutes on foot.

Back at this home, open the French doors to the balcony and have a seat on the comfy sofa after all that sightseeing. We love the high ceilings here and traditional wall mouldings. Located just off the famous Barceloneta beach, Windclass Blue is a solid home for those seeking a relaxing beachside retreat. In the evenings, the Port Vell's nearby promenade is filled with great restaurants and cafes, but if you walk the other way towards Poblenou, you won't be hungry either. This is a simple, luminous home, whose design is focused more on functionality than aesthetics.
