With the thriving theatre scene of the El Poble-Sec neighbourhood on your doorstep and the must-see sights of the L'Eixample district a stroll away, this is an ideal base for families looking to be close to the action. The bunk beds will be handy for kids sharing, and though the kitchen is pocket-sized, it's surprisingly well-equipped for rustling up simple family meals. Rather eat out instead? There are buzzy tapas bars and restaurants on tap in the streets below. The only thing this bolthole is missing is outdoor space. But the floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony doors are a nice touch to let the sunshine in.

A Sunny Haven

This period apartment is in the very heart of the city, where Eixample meets the Gothic Quarter. Right beside Plaça Catalunya, your sightseeing days will no doubt start on this iconic square. On a high floor of a traditional building and overlooking a small courtyard, it's a stylish and comfortable place to stay in a surprisingly quiet spot. The character of this well-cared-for home shines out from the moment you open the door, with wood floors, original brick and beam ceilings and tall windows that open to a balcony – a perfect outdoor space for your morning cup of coffee. Modern furnishings like the leather sofa and the dining table make for a home from home feel, while the kitchen is kitted-out for cooking at home. A great choice for a small family, the second bedroom may be on the smaller side but its bunk beds make the most of the space. An easy walk from Las Ramblas and a couple of minutes walk from the Metro station, it's perfectly located for exploring this city and its many delights.

What this studio apartment lacks in size, it makes up for in location. Barcelona's El Born neighbourhood offers restaurants, museums and bars right on your doorstep. Interested in sightseeing? The Cathedral of Barcelona, Parc de la Ciutadella and the beach are all within easy reach. Despite its small size, the kitchenette is well-equipped and the all-in-one space is ideal for solo travellers or couples. There isn't a whole lot of natural light here, as the only window faces a basilica – but the typically-Spanish Juliet balcony is a nice touch.

Catalan Soul

This loft apartment is on the first floor of a renovated old building in the heart of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. From your doorstep, you can head straight to the cosy tapas bars and pavement cafes that fill the narrow, atmospheric streets. It’s just 50 meters away from the Gothic Church of St. Maria del Mar, the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, and the port of Barcelona. The apartment retains some history – restored wood ceilings, original stone walls, and parquet flooring. While the kitchen is fully equipped and up-to-date. Two balconies off the living room looking out over the charming street provide a spot for fresh air.

Ideally located in central Barcelona, this apartment offers great proximity to some of the city’s greatest sights, and attractions. Admire the home’s unique brickwork art as it greets you and welcomes you to Barcelona. Perfect mornings here begin with a breakfast tortilla eaten at the kitchen island with the soft breeze from the Juliet balcony floating in. Then, head out onto the balcony with your coffee to enjoy the views and the sun on your skin. 

Catch up on any important work at the desk space before heading out for a day of exploring. Take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful Ciutadella Park – a seven-minute walk away, or visit the Gothic Quarter and Cathedral – reachable in nine minutes on foot. You can even hop on and off a bus tour of the city to take in as many sights as possible. 

In the evening, dine in one of the many restaurants in the neighbourhood which are reachable in as little as a one-minute walk, or try cooking your own Catalan dishes. We would then love to end the day with a glass of sangria on the balcony, to enjoy the last of the views as night-time descends.

Located in one of Barcelona’s most popular neighbourhoods, Velvet Touch is just steps from La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça Catalunya. Whether this is your first or hundredth visit to the city, a great location is just as important as the home itself. Luckily for you, Velvet Touch easily matches its location with super sleek interiors, all-modern appliances and exposed brick for a rustic touch in this cutting edge space. Welcoming up to four guests, this is a great spot for a couple of friends or a family keen on getting the most out of Barcelona and its offerings. Sample the area’s many wonderful restaurants and bars or catch the metro and explore Barcelona’s many excellent neighbourhoods.

We’ve always felt a pull to those homes that honour the tradition and history of their environment – places where you can feel the beating heart of a city. And this home, located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, perfectly captures the unique charm of the medieval streets that lie below.

A Gift from the Sea

Just 50 metres from the La Rambla thoroughfare, this central apartment is ideal for travellers seeking a stay among the action. While retaining its historic facade, the interior design is minimal and the space lacks natural light – although the plant-filled patio is a nice touch. Some may find the apartment better for a couple than small groups, as the en-suite bathroom means guests three and four will have to intrude. They'd also be sleeping on a sofa bed, which won't suit everyone. But we can't fault the location. Here in the Gothic Quarter, you're only steps away from Barcelona Cathedral and its surrounding shops and restaurants. 

Barcelona Classic

Like an artist who finds inspiration in the smallest details, this beautiful home welcomes guests to discover the hidden nuances of life in Barcelona. Located in the Gothic Quarter, it’s a simple space filled with traditional touches, that capture the unique history and character of the environment. 

From relaxing in the open plan living area to sharing tapas in the kitchen, it’s easy to feel at home here. And stepping outside there’s so much to explore. Wind your way through labyrinth streets lined with artisanal shops, bars and Catalan restaurants. For artistic inspiration make a stop at the Picasso museum – only a three–minute walk away, or admire the stunning architecture of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. Afternoons can be spent soaking in the natural beauty of Parc de la Ciutadella – a seven–minute walk away.

But in such lively surroundings, a calming home is something we think you’ll really appreciate.

In a building which has stood for 120 years, your historic flat takes a different approach inside. Modern, minimalist, and relaxed, the bright living space features understated furnishings with a monochrome colour scheme. This cleverly allows its original architectural features to stand out – vaulted brick ceilings, timber beams, and exposed brickwork remind you of Barcelona of old.

Since ascending the stairs to the fifth floor is thirsty work, we recommend pouring yourself a chilled glass of Catalan wine. Take it out to peer over the wrought-iron balconette from the tall glass doors of the lounge. Or head into the main bedroom where you’ll find a cute terrace with an alfresco dining spot and fabulous views of neighbouring buildings. Anyone for a top-up?

Mató de Monja

In a renovated 16th-century building in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, this stylish apartment is a great base for traversing the city. While it may not offer the most inspiring views, the balcony lets in fresh air and limited natural light in the daytime. You'll want to pack light as storage space in the bedroom is tight, but you'll get a good night's sleep before a busy day. With restaurants, shops, and landmarks easily reachable on foot or public transport, you won't get much more central than this.

Silver Eye

You'll find this contemporary flat just around the corner from Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla de Catalunya, two of Barcelona's busiest and most vibrant spots. As long as a bit of buzz suits you, we think this central location will make sightseeing effortless – many of the city's must-visit landmarks are either within walking distance or a quick ride away on the metro. Add in the proximity to delicious restaurants, lively tapas bars and fashionable shopping and we think it's an excellent choice.

After a long day exploring, come home to this light-filled apartment and chill out in style. It's a chic mixture of old and new – we particularly liked the tall vaulted ceilings, large windows and traditional French doors leading onto the balcony. Kick back on the cushy sofa with a glass of sangria, then rustle up classic Catalan dishes like pa amb tomàquet and fideuà in the sleek white kitchen. Following dinner, pour yourself another glass of wine and step out onto the balcony to watch the sunset over the city streets – although there's nowhere to sit, we thought it was a great spot to soak up the festive atmosphere of Barcelona. Then, when you're feeling full and sleepy, climb into the comfortable beds and drift off dreaming of tomorrow's adventures.
