Just looking at it, you wouldn’t expect Pulpo Gallego to be on the ground floor. It has most of the trappings of a loft, and wouldn’t feel too out of place in Williamsburg or Greenpoint. Maite’s done a lovely job setting it up. It’s been renovated in the past year or so, and even though it has a small and unusually shaped footprint, it easily feels large enough. You also have the benefit of being in Eixample, so getting around the city, either on foot or by public transport, is very simple.

We like the separate kitchen, which is ready and waiting to help with your culinary efforts – although, with Michelin-starred restaurants and cosy bistros nearby, we’re sure that meals out sampling authentic Spanish cuisine will be high on the agenda. 

Eixample Elegance

Catalan tradition meets southeast Asian simplicity in this gorgeous apartment, right in the heart of lively Eixample Dreta. Every inch is warm, inviting and bright – it all feels very natural, with jute accents, Juliet balconies, cream-coloured walls and rich wood tones. We don't know about you, but we'd love to come home to this soothing space after a long day out and about. It's never too early to put a record on the vinyl player and lounge on the macramé hammock, while the quaint balcony overlooking the local market is the perfect spot to savour a glass of Spain's finest wine in the evening sun. After dinner, sink into the squishy sofas and catch up on your favourite Netflix shows, or, if you need to get some work done, the desks in the third bedroom make excellent workspaces. 

Location-wise, this charming neighbourhood is characterised by the famous Gaudi-inspired architecture, the most famous of which are Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, both fifteen minutes away on foot. You’ll find endless relaxation in this jungle-reminiscent apartment, located in Barcelona’s central Eixample neighbourhood. 

With its exposed brick walls, domed ceiling, bespoke neon lighting, Brazilian art and a plethora of plants, there’s a laid-back vibe here that instantly makes you feel like you're in a beachy haven. Our favourite spot in the home is the balcony with its wicker rocking chair and shaded cover. Start mornings off here with a cup of coffee before getting some work done in the cosy workspace. Then, set out to see the sights with ​​Gaudí’s beautiful Casa Milà a ten-minute walk away and Casa Batlló less than a fifteen-minute stroll. You'll also find leafy Las Ramblas a twenty-minute stroll away and La Sagrada Familia walkable in just under thirty minutes. 

After a day of sightseeing, come back home for a glass of wine on the sofa while you listen to some tunes on the record player. The kitchen’s column of hanging herbs invites you to cook up a feast to enjoy at the industrial-style dining table when you're not out sampling the local tapas scene. And when sleep beckons, retreat to the calm bedrooms – we're particularly fond of the main bedroom's four-poster – where a serene night's sleep awaits. 

Hakuna Matata

This marvellous home is a true gem nestled in the centre of Barcelona. With a generous amount of space both inside and out, it's the ultimate city sanctuary where you can kick back and relax between your adventures. 

There's a desert theme running throughout the duplex, which you'll find reflected in the soft colour scheme and natural textures. The living space is a fabulous place to spend some quality time with your guests – pop a vinyl on the record player and sip some wine as you plan the itinerary for your stay. Step outside, and you'll find a gorgeous patio area and dining table for alfresco feasts. And, perhaps best of all, there's a dreamy corner complete with a hammock – when you need some respite from city life, this is where to go. 

The surrounding Eixample area is famous for its art nouveau boulevards which are packed with boutiques and smart restaurants. If you like exploring cities on foot, then you can walk over to Gaudi's Casa Mila and the Sagrada Familia is a little further – otherwise, you can hop on the metro. And, the historic Gothic Quarter is not too far away either – you'll love getting lost in the narrow medieval streets.

With a private terrace perfect for cocktails and in a fantastic location, you'll be torn between spending a little longer at home and heading out here. The apartment is located in hip Esquerra de l'Eixample, so the local area is littered with trendy bars and local eateries. Back at home, the open-plan living space and its compact kitchen are there when you fancy dining in. Only one bedroom has air conditioning here, but with two bathrooms, at least you won't need to queue for your morning shower.

The Writer's Apartment

Nestled in the L’Esquerra de l’Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment places you within easy reach of many of the city’s must-sees. Teeming with tapas bars, you’ll never have to wander far for a true taste of Barcelona, and if you fancy a quiet night in, well, the kitchen may not be the biggest, but it’s a match for any budding chef. In the area for work? The main bedroom has a dedicated workstation for catching up on emails, after which, you can relax on the cosy private balcony, sipping sangria as the sun sets. 

The Barcelona Sun

Located in the heart of Barcelona, in the Esquerra de l’Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment is well-positioned to explore everything that the city has to offer. Begin your days here with breakfast at the kitchen’s bar or take advantage of a warm, sunny morning and head out onto the terrace to enjoy the views with your café con leche and churros. 

Use the dedicated workstation to catch up on your emails or any last-minute deadlines, and then plan your day ahead. Admire Gaudí’s architecture at Casa Battló and Casa Milà – which are reachable by foot in twenty-two and twenty-five minutes, respectively. Visit the Gothic Quarter – which is just twenty-one minutes away on public transport – and see the amazing Cathedral of Barcelona. Or even spend the day at Barcelona city beach – which is a thirty-nine-minute journey on public transport. 

When you’re tired from a busy day of exploring and sightseeing, settle yourself on the sofa or curl up in the comfort of the Papasan chair. Whether you choose to read a good book as the sun floods in through the glass doors or whether you want to enjoy a film is entirely up to you. 

For dinner, why not go shopping at Boqueria market – just a twenty-nine-minute walk away – and pick up some local produce, or sample ones of the many tapas bars and cocktail bars – some of which can be reached in as little as twelve minutes on foot.
