Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, on the other hand, are a ten-minute walk away or visit one of Barcelona's most iconic attractions, the Sagrada Familia, just over twenty minutes on foot.

Let's kick off with the location first with this home – it's fantastic. The apartment is within walking distance of Plaça de Catalunya and the Arc de Triomf, as well as all the restaurants and bars of Eixample. Culture lovers, on the other hand, can visit the nearby Picasso Museum and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. The apartment itself has a Juliet-style balcony with views over the La Rambla de Catalunya. We should point out that if you're a group of four, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the already compact living room. But that's probably a small price to pay for such a great address.

The location of this elegant home couldn't be better – it's surrounded by shops, popular restaurants, and world-famous sights, but tucked away in a quiet side street in the middle of Passeig de Gràcia. Even though the balcony faces the street, the well-placed shutters keep it private and give the communal areas a touch of industrial design. Taffy teal is all about comfort and will help you relax in with luxurious soft furnishings, excellent appliances, and a marble bath.

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

If you're looking to stay in Eixample, then you might already know that it's filled with architectural masterpieces. Well, guess what – you'll be staying right around the corner from Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, which will make sightseeing effortless. At just a two- and eight-minute walk respectively, your apartment is a wonderful base for Gaudí fans. Unlike the striking architecture around you, the home interiors feel understated yet elegant. Overall it’s a modern vibe, with Scandinavian-style furniture. However, you will find hints of tradition from Catalan design features like decorative tiled floors and arched, wooden shuttered windows. If we could choose one street out of the thousands in Barcelona to lay our hats for a stay in the city, it would always be the leafy, pedestrianised Carrer d'Enric Granado of the L'Eixample district. And luckily for you, it's the setting of this oh-so-elegant apartment. Brimming with highly-brunchable cafes, ice-cream parlours, and galleries and within walking distance of the city's must-see sights, you couldn't dream up a better location. 

Inside, vaulted ceilings dating way back to the 1800s bring all the wow factor – while a glorious mishmash of heirloom-worthy antiques and curated artwork add layers of interest and authenticity. Guests rave about the careful attention to detail here and we couldn't agree more. Given its spot in the heart of the action, you may need to contend with some street noise throughout your stay. But there’s plenty to appreciate inside, not least of all the pad’s private terrace – perfect for sunny breakfasts and evening glasses of wine. The decor isn’t the most inspiring here but a sizeable kitchen will be appreciated by chefs of the group. And the home’s locale close to Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and Plaça de Catalunya makes sightseeing a cinch.

The marine blue accent wall makes the open-plan living space feel connected and cosy, while boiserie and marble-effect details add a touch of elegance. You’ll begin your mornings at the dining table with a traditional Catalan breakfast before nipping onto the balcony to bask in the glorious sunshine. 

Spend afternoons ticking off Barcelona’s cultural hot spots – Gaudí’s Casa Batlló is a mere 160 metres from your building and La Sagrada Família is a leisurely twenty-five-minute walk away. Weave through the Gothic Quarter’s charming streets – stop for a coffee on La Rambla and pore over the masterpieces in the Picasso Museum. And when the day draws to a close, take the twenty-four-minute bus trip to Barceloneta Beach to watch the sun set over the glittering Mediterranean. 

La Modernista

Such is the great design of this Eixample apartment, there are balconies leading off from both of the bedrooms and the large living area. We can guarantee that these outdoor spaces will be a godsend on sunny afternoons, which are not unheard of in Barcelona.

These doors to the outdoor space also have the added benefit of bringing plenty of natural light into the interior, which dances pleasingly off the grey wooden floor. The furnishings throughout are Scandi in style, with a preference for wood and clean lines, although both the kitchen and bathroom are more contemporary in style.

When you fancy seeing a little more of the city, the iconic Casa Milà takes ten minutes to reach on foot and another one of Gaudi's finished projects, Casa Batlló, takes only slightly longer. A little further afield, Tibidabo theme park is a forty-minute journey on public transport.

Worship the Sun

Located on the cusp of the Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an excellent position to explore the city in style. It's right on the Ronda de la Universitat, a major thoroughfare in the city, but this sanctuary is pretty peaceful – thanks to it being on the inner side of the building, you get to enjoy the central location without the noise. We liked the splashes of mauve in the living room, as well as the use of natural materials. The kitchen is kitted out with basic seasonings and cooking ingredients, and there's a juicer and Nespresso machine to make mornings a delight. And the true standout feature of this home is the bedroom, with its impressive modern twist on a classic four-poster bed and painted brick wall. Step outside, and it's just a four-minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya, and you can arrive at the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter in less than fifteen minutes. 

Cuboides

This Spanish pad in Eixample Esquerra is just as chic as the surrounding neighbourhood. With long corridors, there’s plenty of space for people to spread out and find their own quiet nook here – the balcony just off the main bedroom is a perfect example. We like the separate kitchen, which is ready and waiting to help with your culinary efforts – although, with Michelin-starred restaurants and cosy bistros nearby, we’re sure that meals out sampling authentic Spanish cuisine will be high on the agenda. 

Eixample Elegance

You can't get any more central than this Barcelona base – located in the thriving Eixample district. If you love being in the hustle and bustle of city life, then a stay here is sure to fulfil your needs. Minimal designs create a practical and comfortable space to relax in after the day or night's escapades in Barcelona. Since the home is located on the ground floor of a historic building, we particularly love the skylight in the kitchen which invites the Catalina sunshine into an otherwise shaded space. Meanwhile, carefully chosen design pieces, like the chandelier above the dining table and antique footstool in the bedroom, inject character into the interiors with charm and style. Lap up the local area with shops, restaurants and culture quite literally on your doorstep. You'll be positioned just a fifteen-minute walk (past a wealth of popular shops) from the Gothic Quarter and Gaudi's iconic architectural delights including the Casa Mila. 

Swinging It

With a private terrace perfect for cocktails and in a fantastic location, you'll be torn between spending a little longer at home and heading out here. The apartment is located in hip Esquerra de l'Eixample, so the local area is littered with trendy bars and local eateries. Back at home, the open-plan living space and its compact kitchen are there when you fancy dining in. Only one bedroom has air conditioning here, but with two bathrooms, at least you won't need to queue for your morning shower.

As soon as we stepped into the entrance hall of this building, with its marble stairs and ornate gold ceiling, we knew this one was going to be special. Everything about this apartment is seriously cool, from the muted colour palette to the statement furnishings and exposed brick walls. We loved the thoughtful touches, like the minibar filled with wine, luxury toiletries and a TV that's ready with a choice of streaming services. The reading spot beside the bay window is a particularly lovely place to enjoy some quiet time with a good book or simply admire the city scenes below. The iconic Plaça Catalunya is just a few steps away from your front door, and there are a range of upmarket boutiques close by too – in case you fancy treating yourself or just doing some window shopping. You're also in an excellent position to visit both the modernist architecture of Eixample and the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter – if you like exploring cities on foot, this home is a great choice.
