Let's kick off with the location first with this home – it's fantastic. The apartment is within walking distance of Plaça de Catalunya and the Arc de Triomf, as well as all the restaurants and bars of Eixample. Culture lovers, on the other hand, can visit the nearby Picasso Museum and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. The apartment itself has a Juliet-style balcony with views over the La Rambla de Catalunya. We should point out that if you're a group of four, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the already compact living room. But that's probably a small price to pay for such a great address.

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

If you're looking to stay in Eixample, then you might already know that it's filled with architectural masterpieces. Well, guess what – you'll be staying right around the corner from Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, which will make sightseeing effortless. At just a two- and eight-minute walk respectively, your apartment is a wonderful base for Gaudí fans. Unlike the striking architecture around you, the home interiors feel understated yet elegant. Overall it’s a modern vibe, with Scandinavian-style furniture. However, you will find hints of tradition from Catalan design features like decorative tiled floors and arched, wooden shuttered windows. Unwind on the leather sofa, or read your novel in the rattan chair in the lounge. Another excellent spot for relaxation is the private roof terrace with its outdoor sofa and dining table. We love the terracotta tiles and the spectacular views out to the modernist buildings of Barcelona. The spacious, open-layout living room has views of Carrer de la Diputació and the Rambla de Catalunya, and it's just steps from some of the best bars, cafes and restaurants in Barcelona.

If you're cooking at home, your apartment has a fully kitted-out kitchen with a dining table for six, and if you're working from home there's a little desk in the corner of the room. Both bedrooms are bright and uncluttered, and they'd suit a small family as well as a group of friends – with a dedicated bathroom for each room.

Down on the street, you can walk two minutes to the Passeig de Gràcia metro to get all around the city. A stop you should definitely make is the thirteen-minute train trip to the Sagrada Familia. Let yourself be overwhelmed by its beauty and detail, before wandering back through the decorative blocks of the city, stopping in for tapas and wine en route home.

The decor isn’t the most inspiring here but a sizeable kitchen will be appreciated by chefs of the group. And the home’s locale close to Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and Plaça de Catalunya makes sightseeing a cinch.

If we could choose one street out of the thousands in Barcelona to lay our hats for a stay in the city, it would always be the leafy, pedestrianised Carrer d'Enric Granado of the L'Eixample district. And luckily for you, it's the setting of this oh-so-elegant apartment. Brimming with highly-brunchable cafes, ice-cream parlours, and galleries and within walking distance of the city's must-see sights, you couldn't dream up a better location. 

Inside, vaulted ceilings dating way back to the 1800s bring all the wow factor – while a glorious mishmash of heirloom-worthy antiques and curated artwork add layers of interest and authenticity. Guests rave about the careful attention to detail here and we couldn't agree more. There's a dedicated desk area to keep on top of emails, a slick kitchen, and two fully modernised bathrooms, complete with rainfall showers to kick start your day.

But the clincher for us has to be that lavish living room with panoramic views of the city from the Juliette balcony. Grab yourself a freshly brewed coffee and peer out over the balcony to watch city life awaken below along its leafy avenue – it's everything you imagined it would be.

Located on the cusp of the Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an excellent position to explore the city in style. It's right on the Ronda de la Universitat, a major thoroughfare in the city, but this sanctuary is pretty peaceful – thanks to it being on the inner side of the building, you get to enjoy the central location without the noise. We liked the splashes of mauve in the living room, as well as the use of natural materials. The kitchen is kitted out with basic seasonings and cooking ingredients, and there's a juicer and Nespresso machine to make mornings a delight. And the true standout feature of this home is the bedroom, with its impressive modern twist on a classic four-poster bed and painted brick wall. Step outside, and it's just a four-minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya, and you can arrive at the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter in less than fifteen minutes.

There's room for all eight of you to pile into this chic Barcelona bolthole, placed right in the heart of Eixample's wander-worthy, elegant streets. 

Get off to a flying start exploring the city at the Cathedral of Barcelona (just thirteen minutes on foot). Stop by Plaça Reial, just around the corner, for a spot of brunch with the fountain and palm trees as your backdrop. Then hit the tree-lined streets of La Rambla (seventeen minutes on foot) for some retail therapy. Or, for a slice of something more authentic, stop by La Boqueria Market (twenty-two minutes on foot), the city's most flamboyant and bustling market, for a market-fresh snack.

When it's time to escape the bustle for a while, the beach for an afternoon of lounging around on the golden sand and sipping a glass of Sangria is never far away. Or head back home to this fresh and inviting city hideaway.

What a fabulous location this stylish apartment has in Barcelona – Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a mere three-minute stroll away. If designer shopping is more your bag, then Paseo De Gracia is a six-minute saunter with its boutiques such as Gucci, Chanel and Versace. Lively Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas are both a ten-minute walk or another of Gaudí's iconic landmarks, the Sagrada Familia is just over twenty minutes on foot.

This home is housed in a grand period building. We love the open plan living space with its high ceilings, exposed brick walls and stunning steel, open-tread staircase – this place has a cool, warehouse vibe. Elsewhere in the apartment, you’ll find traditional features such as barrel-vaulted ceilings and Spanish tiles. Open the French doors onto the balcony with its views over the neighbourhood, whip up a fideuà in the modern kitchen and enjoy a Catalan feast at your dining table. You can't get any more central than this Barcelona base – located in the thriving Eixample district. If you love being in the hustle and bustle of city life, then a stay here is sure to fulfil your needs. Minimal designs create a practical and comfortable space to relax in after the day or night's escapades in Barcelona. Since the home is located on the ground floor of a historic building, we particularly love the skylight in the kitchen which invites the Catalina sunshine into an otherwise shaded space. Meanwhile, carefully chosen design pieces, like the chandelier above the dining table and antique footstool in the bedroom, inject character into the interiors with charm and style. Lap up the local area with shops, restaurants and culture quite literally on your doorstep. You'll be positioned just a fifteen-minute walk (past a wealth of popular shops) from the Gothic Quarter and Gaudi's iconic architectural delights including the Casa Mila. 

Swinging It

With a private terrace perfect for cocktails and in a fantastic location, you'll be torn between spending a little longer at home and heading out here. The apartment is located in hip Esquerra de l'Eixample, so the local area is littered with trendy bars and local eateries. Back at home, the open-plan living space and its compact kitchen are there when you fancy dining in. Only one bedroom has air conditioning here, but with two bathrooms, at least you won't need to queue for your morning shower.

The Writer's Apartment

This Spanish pad in Eixample Esquerra is just as chic as the surrounding neighbourhood. With long corridors, there’s plenty of space for people to spread out and find their own quiet nook here – the balcony just off the main bedroom is a perfect example. We like the separate kitchen, which is ready and waiting to help with your culinary efforts – although, with Michelin-starred restaurants and cosy bistros nearby, we’re sure that meals out sampling authentic Spanish cuisine will be high on the agenda. 

Eixample Elegance

Modern and bright, this ideally located apartment on Rambla de Catalunya puts you in the centre of the city’s action while also offering a comfortable base with gorgeous views of your Eixample neighbourhood. 
 
Inside, modern design meets bohemian chic with wicker ornaments and colourful art on the walls and ample natural light pouring into the living area from the French doors. Open these up to reveal a pretty Juliet balcony – the ideal spot to perch with your morning coffee or evening glass of Spanish wine while watching the comings and going of the Rambla de Catalunya below. 
 
The bedroom is just as bright with its white walls and pared-back furnishings, while a second set of French doors opens onto yet another Juliet balcony – perfect for catching some rays first thing after waking up. With a sleek bathroom complete with a rainfall shower, you’re all set for a carefree, relaxing time. 
 
Go for a stroll along the bustling boulevard right outside your door or visit the Museu Egipci de Barcelona, a six-minute walk away. Architecture enthusiasts, meanwhile, will go gaga for the many Gaudí masterpieces within easy reach, including Casa Batlló (a three-minute walk), Casa Milà (an eight-minute walk) and Barcelona’s emblematic Sagrada Familia (a twenty-five-minute walk). You’re also an eight-minute stroll from Plaça de Catalunya, while the Gothic Quarter is twenty minutes away on foot.

As soon as we stepped into the entrance hall of this building, with its marble stairs and ornate gold ceiling, we knew this one was going to be special. Everything about this apartment is seriously cool, from the muted colour palette to the statement furnishings and exposed brick walls. We loved the thoughtful touches, like the minibar filled with wine, luxury toiletries and a TV that's ready with a choice of streaming services. The reading spot beside the bay window is a particularly lovely place to enjoy some quiet time with a good book or simply admire the city scenes below. The iconic Plaça Catalunya is just a few steps away from your front door, and there are a range of upmarket boutiques close by too – in case you fancy treating yourself or just doing some window shopping. You're also in an excellent position to visit both the modernist architecture of Eixample and the winding streets of the Gothic Quarter – if you like exploring cities on foot, this home is a great choice.
