You're in for a treat with a stay at this contemporary apartment perched along a handsome leafy avenue of the well-heeled Eixample district. Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

Looking to the African desert for design inspiration, this Eixample apartment is dominated by earthy tones, natural materials and a few houseplants to add a burst of bright colour. Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. Fabulously located in the heart of Eixample, within easy walking distance of many of Barcelona's key sights, with a beautiful living space full of lovely period details and a spacious master-bedroom with its own private terrace, this home is a delight. Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed!

With sustainability in mind, the hosts have hand-picked recycled wood for the quirky kitchen cabinets, along with things like vintage glasses and upcycled armchairs. The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Reclaimed Dream

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Home chefs will appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, where a breakfast bar beckons for mornings roosted here, sipping quick coffees before slipping out for breakfast – we recommend the croissants from the little cafe downstairs.

Ronda Universitat is close to Plaça Catalunya and the Modernist sights of Eixample. The central location of this convenient address is a great asset and if this is your first visit to Barcelona – it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy being within walking distance of all the best shops, restaurants, and cultural sights including Casa Batllo and Gaudi's other spectacular works of art (a ten-minute walk away). With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. And of course, if you do plan on venturing further afield in the city, you'll have bus stops and metro stations within less than five minutes reach too.

Velvet Willow

Two balconies – one at the front and one at the back of this apartment – provide beautiful views of the neighbourhood and you can even see a little bit of the sea on sunny days. Up on the top floor, natural light floods the rooms. The open living space in soft grey and teal velvet is particularly sunny. Glass doors lead out to the front terrace where waxy green banana leaves sprout from planters and dining is set for four. There’s a lazy hammock in the corner too, so you can take in that rooftop view all the way to the Sagrada Familia. You'll be able to plan your holiday from the comfort of the terrace as Barcelona spreads like a map before you. Located only minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, you'll have easy access to all parts of the city.

From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by style and sophistication – pristine tiled floors, a solid marble staircase, grand mahogany doors – and we’re only in the entrance hall of the building. Inside your home, a lavish theme continues. The furnishings are high-quality, modern pieces, and the colour scheme of the decor is rich and regal. We particularly love the deep crimson tiled bathroom and dark green feature walls. Pick up an art book from the shelf and have a flick through as you catch some rays on the balconette. From up here, the Urquinaona metro stop is so close you can almost see it – just one minute away, hop on to be whisked around the entire city. But there’s plenty to do on foot. See Gaudí’s masterpieces Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, a fifteen and twenty-minute walk respectively, on the elegant broadway of Passeig de Gràcia. You can hit some designer shops en route, before winding back to your locale for tapas and a glass of Spanish wine.

We didn't expect to find a home like this in an unassuming building like the one that hides the Trojan Horse. It's obvious that an interior designer was involved in the curation of this stylish home — there's a consistent theme of industrial chic, that's best expressed by the bare brick wall and sleek lampshades. There's an abundance of natural light with two balconies extending the clutter-free and clean living space and helping this relatively small home maximise its assets. Find a sunny reading spot by the window on a Wegner-inspired chair and gather around the vibrant dining area for convivial coffee and churros – we loved the bright yellow chairs. Both bedrooms benefit from tasteful scatter cushions, throws and quirky headboards that make for a light and airy spot to relax with a magazine. From Gràcia, all the major sights are well within walking distance, including the Sagrada Familia under twenty minutes away. Explore the local neighbourhood, stopping off at its trendy cafes and family-run eateries – wherever you are, a jug of sangria and a plate of paella are never too far from hand. 

Trojan Horse

Situated a stone's throw from Passeig de Gràcia, this home is at the heart of the action. You'll find it on Gran de Gracia, nestled between Gracia and Eixample. Here, you're surrounded by an array of upmarket boutiques, bars and eateries, while Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Milà and La Pedrera, are a ten-minute stroll away. Though being a six-minute walk from two metro stops, the city really is yours for the taking.

We love this home's elegant design aesthetic. Located just off the famous Barceloneta beach, Windclass Blue is a solid home for those seeking a relaxing beachside retreat. In the evenings, the Port Vell's nearby promenade is filled with great restaurants and cafes, but if you walk the other way towards Poblenou, you won't be hungry either. This is a simple, luminous home, whose design is focused more on functionality than aesthetics. Still, the beautiful view and comfort make it a good option for a small family or a group of friends. 






Windclass Blue

The architectural details in Cinder Symmetry are the most characterful part of this comfortable, bright home. Even though it's a rental property, the professional touch of an interior designer is evident in the selection of high-quality, minimalist furniture that doesn't clash with the busy walls. El Born is close to the Gothic Quarter, but has a completely different character –  think fewer tourist hotspots, and far more award-winning tapas bars.

It's right on the iconic Las Ramblas with its street performers, cafes, restaurants, markets and shops, and it's close to some more of Barcelona's most famous streets. Pedestrianised Calle Ferrán, which leads to the Barcelona City Hall and Plaça Reial, one of the city's most beautiful squares, are both nearby.

Back at this recently renovated apartment, we loved the characterful living space with its exposed brick walls, which are more than 200 years old and its high ceilings with wooden beams. The cute balcony is perfect for enjoying a glass of Cava while watching the comings and goings on Las Ramblas. This place is ideal for atwo couples or business professionals.


Take a Rambla Downtown	

El Born is a bustling barrio of cafés, cocktails, and Catalan culture. Seconds from all the action, your home is located in a historical building with buckets of charm. We love the exposed brickwork and wooden beams of this original flat. These rustic structural features contrast beautifully with modern, understated furnishings and decor. Huge floor-to-ceiling windows open up on balconies overlooking the street, while cushy sofas and flowing curtains add softness to your surroundings. Up on the communal roof terrace, we recommend getting a cold drink and lying back in the sun loungers. Housed in a Belle Epoque, 19th-century building this apartment's interior is just as striking as the outside. A steady theme of chocolatey tones paired with minimalistic furnishings made us feel like we were in the home of a deep thinker. Still, there are small details that breathe some warmth into the flat – the Catalan hydraulic tiles on the floor, the modern art on the walls, and the red velvet seats on the balcony. The balcony has a perfect people-watching view over the leafy boulevard below. The kitchen as black as backstage at a theatre and dramatically downlit, but it's not all style over substance as the cupboards are packed with everything you could want for self-catering. Should you need to catch up on work, the second bedroom doubles as an office. When it comes to clocking off you couldn't be better placed with Passeig de Gracia one block away, where Gaudí's masterpiece 'La Pedrera' and famous hotels like Omm and Hotel Casa Fuster reside. The apartment itself is in the 'Cuadrat d'Or' (Golden Square), an area packed with bars, restaurants and high-end shops galore.

If you're staying in Barcelona, then you'll probably want to see some of its architecture – and you're in luck because House of Halls has several well-preserved architectural details. From the closed-up balcony study to the balcony with space for a full set of furniture, this home embodies a true Catalan lifestyle in the opulent neighbourhood of Eixample. Staying in this part of town, you'll have easy access to lots of attractions, including Sagrada Familia and Arco de Triunfo. 

House of Halls

Staying in Mar Diagonal is not the obvious choice for everyone, but if you want a more relaxed, beachy atmosphere, it’s hard to beat this apartment. The building is impressive enough in itself, and the fact that every room has a sea view is not to be sniffed at. While the design of the place is simple, even bordering on sparse, the way that the windows frame that view mitigates what could otherwise be seen as a slight lack of inspiration. Getting into the city is easy enough on the metro, but it’s about an hour on foot to Plaça de Catalunya.

When your home is just a three-minute walk from the dragon-like facade of Casa Batlló, you can certainly say that you’re in the heart of Gaudí’s Barcelona. Inside, colour and decor work together to create a playful and quirky vibe. The bright green shutters on the French doors certainly look traditional, but contrast tastefully with modern interiors. Similarly, we love the minimalist furniture in the kitchen and living space, juxtaposed with busy, patterned feature wallpaper. Situated on one of the main veins of the city, this apartment is more than convenient. Sightseeing is easy from this location, as well as from the home itself – the balconette stretches from the lounge to the bedroom, allowing ample space to look out to fantastic views. Down on the street, you can walk two minutes to the Passeig de Gràcia metro to get all around the city. A stop you should definitely make is the thirteen-minute train trip to the Sagrada Familia. Let yourself be overwhelmed by its beauty and detail, before wandering back through the decorative blocks of the city, stopping in for tapas and wine en route home.

What a fabulous location this stylish apartment has in Barcelona – Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a mere three-minute stroll away. If designer shopping is more your bag, then Paseo De Gracia is a six-minute saunter with its boutiques such as Gucci, Chanel and Versace. Lively Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas are both a ten-minute walk or another of Gaudí's iconic landmarks, the Sagrada Familia is just over twenty minutes on foot.

As well as Gaudí’s influential and iconic buildings, the Eixample region has wide boulevards with excellent shopping, kerbside cafés, and charming restaurants to keep you busy. When you’re staying here, it’s far too easy to run into striking architecture at every turn. And at just an eight-minute walk from shimmering Casa Batlló, this home makes it even easier.

Arriving at its yellow entrance, this standout block is built in a traditional, Spanish Colonial style. This old-world grandeur continues through the front door, in majestic hardwood, with a solid marble staircase leading up to your apartment – but the interiors are a pleasant contrast.

Pout yourself a tempranillo and take a wander around this modern, Scandi-style home. Huge windows lined with railings along a balconette are perfect for peering over with your wine glass in hand. The zen-like lounge offers somewhere understated and calming for you to relax in after exploring the bustling locale. A sleek, matte grey kitchen tops it all off – a lovely little spot where you can prepare ‘pa amb tomàquet’ and a bowl of juicy Spanish olives.

Floating Cinder is only available for longer stays, and as such we think it has to be judged slightly differently to places that are destined for short trips. For example, we wouldn’t recommend using the sofa bed (though of course, it’s your choice), but equally, the extra space and the decent kitchen weigh heavier in our verdict. It’s really important to be aware that this listing represents several flats. They are all identical, and all in the same building, but we can’t say specifically which one you’ll get.
