Calle Almagro is probably one of the most iconic streets in Chamberí. Historically, the elites have fled central Madrid in hopes of finding a quieter vibe in this neighbourhood, leading to low-key chic architecture, great restaurants, and bars. Mucha's Jungle has an atypical interior design that reminded us of a Soho townhouse. The wooden floor is a piece of art on its own, and there are lots of beautiful design details dotted around. In spite of the fact that it looks a lot bigger, this is a small attic home, which is perfect for all who thrive in pretty, cosy spots.

The upmarket districts of Salamanca, Chamberi and Justicia are all close, so you'll have plenty of fine restaurants, chic boutiques and art galleries to enjoy. With one of Madrid's main avenues on your doorstep, the slight downside is you will hear some street noise here, but it's easily fixed with some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

This bright, bohemian apartment is an excellent home from home in Madrid. It’s ideally suited to families, tucked away in a residential area but still in a prime central location. 

The apartment is an instant mood-lifter, with bright colours at every angle. A floor-to-ceiling patio window brings light into the living space, and is the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. There are quirky touches galore, and rustic elements like terracotta floors and the exposed brick behind the piano add depth. It’s a comfortable space too, with plenty of room for lounging around while you’re taking a breather from seeing the sights. 

It’s only an eleven-minute walk from Gran Via, which is a great place to begin your exploration of Madrid. One of the bedrooms in Lovefield doesn't have a window, but otherwise, the design is well-thought-through and coherent.

Surprisingly roomy for a home this central, you’re all sorted for work here, with dedicated desk spaces tucked away in two bedrooms. Although the single bedroom is on the smaller side, there's an en-suite toilet – not to mention more than enough space to spread out in the living area. The covered balcony area is a nice touch, too – just perfect for morning coffees before heading out sightseeing.

The apartment itself is ideal whether you’re in the city for business or pleasure. The desk offers remote working options to whoever stays here, while the private balcony allows you to take in the cityscape as it wakes every morning. 

The Baguio Rose

Lying between Madrid's sought-after Salamanca and the elegant Almagro district – this home has a fantastic address. Known as the "Golden Mile",  Ortega y Gasset Street (twenty minutes on foot) has an array of fashion boutiques, art galleries and Michelin-starred restaurants. It's around the same distance to El Retiro Park with its pretty boating lake. Or, a six-minute stroll will take you to Almagro, with its embassies, museums and upscale Spanish, Italian, and Japanese eateries. 

More Japanese influences can be found at this stylish apartment with its bamboo artwork, plants and oriental style prints, giving it a zen vibe. Put some vinyl on the record player and take a seat at the custom-built dining table for dinner – we love the attention to detail that has gone into this place. Then open up the French doors to the small balcony and let the evening air in. There's a communal gym here, too, if you want to keep up with your fitness regime. This home satisfies both body and mind.

From West To East

Located between the Rios Rosas and Chamberí districts, you’ll have a range of cultural attractions nearby when you stay at this apartment. The Sorolla Museum is situated within a 19th-century house, or head to the Teatro del Canal to see a play or some flamenco – both are within walking distance. After all that exploring, you’ll be glad to know this apartment has a lift up to its entrance. That said, there are steps inside this home (just three up from the living space to the kitchen). There’s a desk in the single bedroom, too, if you need to catch up on work while away, and of course, there’s always the dining table (which seats eight guests).

Inside this cool apartment, you’ll be all set up for life like a local. Enjoy a morning coffee out on the balcony, fix yourself a tasty breakfast, get some work done at the desk and play a round of darts with some friends over a bottle of Rioja. We love the dark green walls, leafy plants and light wood furniture that give this home a decidedly tropical feel – all while situating you in the heart of Madrid. With two bright bedrooms and two bathrooms, a family or group of friends or family is sure to settle into the Spanish lifestyle – before you know it, it will be time to siesta.

Situated in Madrid's artistic Almagro district, this apartment will scratch that itch for a cultural trip. Removed from the tourist crowds, you'll be a short walk from galleries, museums, and upscale restaurants – meanwhile, the city's top attractions can be reached in twenty minutes via public transport (Gregorio Marañón Metro station is an eight-minute walk away). Inside, the flat is bright and practical, with plenty of space to spread out and relax. The fully equipped kitchen adds the potential for home cooking, while the dedicated workstation makes the pad suitable for business trips.

This apartment has a lovely homely atmosphere with its array of palm and weeping fig plants. Our favourite features here include the intricate woodwork detail in the living room and the unique oversized bamboo headboard in the bedroom. Whip up some churros with hot chocolate for breakfast in the modern kitchen after a workout in the communal gym, then open up the French doors to one of two balconies and get some fresh air. 

When you're ready to explore, head for tapas in Plaza de Olavide (six minutes on foot), then watch a performance at Teatros del Canal, a sixteen-minute walk. Or admire the mansions and browse the chic boutiques on Calle Zurbano, a seven-minute stroll. It's a few minutes more to Sorolla Museum, the former home and studio of artist Joaquín Sorolla. Alternatively, if you're looking for some peace and quiet, visit El Retiro Park, just over a twenty-minute saunter from this lovely home.

You could be tempted to marvel at the luxurious, wooden furnishings and cute kitchen counter for weeks  – we wouldn't blame you. However, the glistening metropolis of Madrid has a wealth of cool bars and sumptuous restaurants to sample.

We recommend heading to the enlivening centre to mingle with the locals and wander around the striking scenery. Try tasty tapas dishes and wash them down with a fresh glass of sangria. For the night owls, Madrid flourishes into a buzzing wave of energy and excitement once the sun sets.

If you want a slower pace of life, meander through the local parks or sip your morning coffee at an authentic cafe. If you want to catch up on some emails or do some writing, there's a dedicated workspace in the apartment to get your creative juices flowing.

There's a lot to love about this apartment in Almagro. For starters, the living area is bathed in sunlight and offers the perfect spot to decompress. You can set the mood with the record player, curl up with a book on the sofa, or tuck into tapas around the dining table. Need to work from home? A desk in the hallway is a great spot to hunker down. As for the location, you'll be a five-minute stroll from the nearest metro station – Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, and Museo Nacional del Prado are all a short ride away. Style, comfort, and convenience combine at this sleek apartment near Madrid's top attractions. You'll be a twenty-minute Metro ride from the city's cultural scene, while the local residential area of Almagro offers a great selection of museums, eateries and shops. Back home, we appreciate the modern interiors and the large dining area is a welcomed sight. Two bedrooms are equipped with workstations so it's suitable for business trips. And, there's a private balcony leading off the living space and the second bedroom – perfect for morning coffees before heading out and exploring the Spanish capital. 

The Rose of Madrid 

Located in the quieter neighbourhood of Ríos Rosas, this pad offers a calmer side of the city whilst still placing you within easy reach of the tapas bars and restaurants along Calle Ponzano. The interior style is stylish, with an open-plan living space to unwind. With large windows and a balcony, you'll enjoy plenty of natural light – especially when working from home. The highlight for us here is the communal pool – after a day of gallery hopping where better to enjoy a spot of sun? Gregorio Marañón metro station is right around the corner, although you can easily explore the boutiques, bars and hidden backstreets on foot.

Rosas Blue

Surrounded by art galleries and museums, this home is a must for anyone who loves a spot of culture on holiday. That said, this isn’t just a holiday home. With not one, but two workstations, it’s ideal for a spot of remote working if you’re in the city on business. And when you’re enjoying a day relaxing at home, you’ll find a communal gym, sauna and indoor swimming pool here, so you’ll never be short of entertainment options.

Situated in the well-to-do neighbourhood of Almagro, this apartment might be a lot more contemporary than many of the historic mansions found locally, but it's no less covetable in our eyes.

Across the two floors, there's an abundance of earthy colours, natural materials and boho touches, including a hammock chair in the bedroom that is simply begging for an afternoon doze. The long, wood-panelled kitchen is plenty big enough for home-cooking when you fancy a night off the city's restaurants, and we've also only got compliments for the airy dining space.

The real star of the show, however, is the terrace accessed through the living room's glass doors. Out here, you take a perch on the hammock chair and appreciate the peace and quiet that comes with being a couple of levels up from the bustling streets.

When it comes to sightseeing, you really don't have to venture far to find some noteworthy sights, including museums dedicated to archaeology, romanticism and the old Chambieri metro station. The expansive Parque de el Retiro is only a short walk away, too.



Earth Dweller

Chic and bohemian, this apartment has looks and location on its side. Found in the heart of Almagro, minutes away from several art galleries and museums where you can immerse yourself in Spanish culture and historical landmarks like the 18th-century Royal Palace of Madrid. Though compact, it will comfortably accommodate two guests, ideal for romantic weekends away, but with a laptop-friendly workspace, it's just as perfect for solo business trips. Either way, you'll have a stylish terrace to unwind on with a couple of drinks at the end of every day.
