This Madrid apartment makes for a convenient base for a group of friends or a small family. It’s an open-plan studio apartment, so privacy is limited – two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, which is separated from the bedroom with a partition. The apartment is also close to the Manuel Becerra metro station and there are lots of parks and green spaces nearby, including Parque Maria Eva Duarte de Perón.

Opposite the iconic bullfighting ring, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, this home has an enviable location. It's extremely well-connected to public transport links and plenty of traditional tapas spots are within walking distance. Some of the furniture is a little dated and the touristic photography won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it still has plenty of strengths. Recently renovated, everything works perfectly. The wifi is speedy, the parquet flooring is immaculate, and we loved the little terrace – a sweet place to enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore the city.

And of course, the exciting mix of drinking spots and shaded alfresco dining continues. You might be wondering why we’re so interested in this specific spot – well, this is your address.

This modern apartment trades in centuries of history for bright and shiny interiors (you’ve got plenty of history outside). Naturally, the living space features two huge glass doors leading you to a private balcony facing on to the celebrated square. A cushy white sofa and dining chairs around a glass table bring a futuristic feel, while pink orchids contrast with an organic edge.

But while you sip tempranillo and nibble olives with views over the king’s statue, your host has further plans make you feel regal. They can arrange for private city tours, dry cleaning, grocery deliveries, and even themed dinner nights – royal banquet anyone?

Despite being located in the heart of Malasaña, Autumn Jungle is tucked away on a quiet street. Walking to Plaza Mayor or Palacio Real will be a breeze, but the nearby streets of Madrid's trendiest neighbourhood will have you stopping in art galleries and cosy bars along the way. This is a well-executed home with curated artwork, where special attention has been given to the details. It might not be the biggest home in our collection, but it has a pleasant, bohemian chic vibe that fits in perfectly in the spirit of Malasaña.

With a fantastic address, just off the Paseo de la Castellana, this apartment has a wealth of attractions nearby. The upmarket districts of Salamanca, Chamberi and Justicia are all close, so you'll have plenty of fine restaurants, chic boutiques and art galleries to enjoy. With one of Madrid's main avenues on your doorstep, the slight downside is you will hear some street noise here, but it's easily fixed with some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

Plaza París Haven

Set within the heart of Madrid, this apartment is an ideal base for those looking to drop off their suitcases and head out to explore. It's a studio, so space is limited. We think it's best for couples or solo travellers, though a sofa bed could sleep an additional guest if needed. Locally, indulge in some tasty tapas, soak up some culture at the Prado Museum, or head to Plaza Mayor or Puerta del Sol for a true taste of Madrid.

You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to drinking, dining and shopping, and you can zip around on the metro effortlessly – the nearest station is just one block away from this apartment. In the morning, grab a coffee and watch the world go by in Marqués de Salamanca Square, soaking up the atmosphere of this incredible city. In the evening, hop from one bar to the next and sample tapas as you go. 
If busy days of shopping and seeing the city sights leave you craving the great outdoors, stroll seventeen minutes to El Retiro Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rent a bike to explore the park and find the perfect picnic spot.

The Green Guitar

When you see as many flats as we do, you learn very quickly to tell which homes have been done up for convenience, and which are a labour of love. Toquilla clearly falls into the latter category. It’s been designed as a whole, with thought and attention put into the schemes, as well as the materials. We particularly liked the concrete pillars and the glass walls, neither of which are especially common in Madrid. The only real complaint we have is the fake plants – They’re understandable for the convenience, but really, most places would be better off without anything.


Toquilla

A comfortable and functional home in the heart of Madrid, this apartment is quiet, inviting and convenient. There’s a winter garden balcony for relaxing with a cup of coffee in the mornings, a sitting room with a collection of books – fitting, considering your home is in the Literary Quarter – and a bright and spacious living area, our favourite place to recline with a glass of wine in the evenings. 

After breakfast cooked up in the modern kitchen, get lost in the charming streets that surround your home. You’re a five-minute walk from the Museo Nacional del Prado, less than fifteen from the sprawling Retiro Park and twenty from the Royal Palace. When all of that exploring works up a hunger, check out your neighbourhood’s impressive culinary scene. Find a tapas bar for a tipple and a bite to eat or try out international cuisine in sleek dining rooms. 

Scholastic

Nestled in the heart of Madrid, this stylish apartment couldn't be better placed for some fun in the city. The interiors boast plush furnishings, exposed brick and lots of natural sunlight, whilst outside you'll find a small but cosy terrace. History fans will be happy to know that the Royal Palace is a fifteen-minute walk away, and the Museo Nacional del Prado is the same distance in the opposite direction. And, if you're craving some serenity after all that sightseeing then head to El Retiro Park and wander through the rose gardens before enjoying a picnic by the lake.

This cosy, stylish apartment is a superb base for two in Madrid. It’s in the popular Delicias neighbourhood, right in the heart of Madrid. You need only walk ten minutes to reach Plaza Major and twelve minutes to Puerta del Sol. You can also easily reach the metro, so seeing further-afield sights is as easy as can be. This well-connected neighbourhood is full of bars, shops and restaurants, too, making it a convenient base for your stay – though you might want to pack earplugs.

It is noisy, but you're in the heart of the action here. Chueca, famous for its active nightlife and wonderful vintage tapas bars, is a great place to experience Spanish nightlife. Most importantly, before hitting the bars, seek out a quaint restaurant for delightful tapas. This is all achievable due to the transport links that you can easily tour the entire city with.
