Hop on public transport to explore even more sights and attractions of Madrid, including the Plaza Mayor – reachable in twenty-nine minutes. Sure, with its enviable central location, there’s the possibility of some street noise and the view out of the windows is predominantly of neighbouring buildings, but it’s a small price to pay to hop around the city with ease.

In the heart of the Eixample district, this is a sleek city bolthole near Barcelona's top attractions. You'll also have tapas bars, eateries, and cafes on your doorstep, while the Gothic Quarter and some of Gaudís best architecture can be found a short walk away. Suitable for families and small groups, there's a compact yet fully equipped kitchen as well as three well-sized bedrooms – just keep in mind that the fifth guest will be sleeping in a single room. Surprisingly spacious for a pad this central, you’re all set up for remote working here with a dedicated desk space, and the Juliet balcony is a nice touch for peering over with morning coffees.

Many of Madrid’s must-sees are within walking distance – including picturesque El Retiro Park – and there’s a metro station nearby for easy access to those that aren’t. More stylish than your average city pad, the home boasts a comfortable living room (this is the only room that has air conditioning), a desk for remote working, and a bigger-than-average kitchen – perfect for rustling up a paella when you’re not eating out at one of the nearby restaurants.
