With a fantastic address, just off the Paseo de la Castellana, this apartment has a wealth of attractions nearby. The upmarket districts of Salamanca, Chamberi and Justicia are all close, so you'll have plenty of fine restaurants, chic boutiques and art galleries to enjoy. With one of Madrid's main avenues on your doorstep, the slight downside is you will hear some street noise here, but it's easily fixed with some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

Situated in the central neighbourhood of Malasaña and just a fifteen-minute walk to most attractions, this apartment is a great base from which to explore Madrid. A light and beautiful home, the space combines cosy comfort with a youthful vibe. The living areas have wooden beams and whitewashed walls, but added to the style are pop-art paintings and Coca-Cola memorabilia. Homely touches include vases filled with flowers and the whitest of linen in the bedrooms. In the morning, throw open the tall windows and shutters and let the sounds of the city waft through the rooms. Outside your front door, you’ll find yourself in a prime location for discovering all of the iconic spots, with most of the main sights within an easily walkable distance.

Remove yourself from the noise and bustle back home by stepping foot in this calming apartment made up of natural textiles, neutral tones and rattan furnishings in the heart of the Justicia District. We love the blend of modern design and old-world Saharan decor that makes for a zen and balanced space to kick back after a day of sightseeing. Curl up on the sofa with a good book, prepare meals in the marble-topped kitchen or keep an eye on work – there’s a dedicated desk for those who are visiting on business. 

That being said, we recommend less work and a lot more play here. Head out and explore the elegant streets below, filled with art galleries, trendy boutiques and Parisian-style cafés. Fill your days with shopping and flat-white sipping along the iconic Gran Vía boulevard nearby, taking in the striking neoclassical architecture as you go. 

Madrilenian Modern

Looking directly out over Plaza de Chueca, Cuadro is in the middle of the action. The two balconies bring loads of natural light into the living room, and they have double glazing, which keeps out the majority of the noise (you might still get a bit though – such is the nature of the centre of Madrid). It would be nice to have some sort of view from the bedrooms, but having the windows facing internally does mean that they’re calmer than the living room, and in the long run, that’s more important.

Earthy tones, comfy furnishing and big rooms – this apartment is a stylish choice for a couple or a solo traveller planning a longer than usual stay in the city. Set in a period building, you can expect tall ceilings and those quintessential double French doors, which open out to a traditional wrought-iron narrow balcony. The living room is bright and spacious, with a comfy sofa and a handy, bespoke desk area – perfect if you're here for work. Decorated with natural hues and bouquets of dried flowers, with the doors open to the street below, this place feels cool and relaxing. Elsewhere in the flat, there's a charming bedroom, a kitchen equipped with everything you might need and a shower room. And we love the dining nook just before you enter the living room. On the edge of the Justicia neighbourhood, here you'll be surrounded by neo-classical architecture and upscale boutiques. Walk to one of a handful of nearby museums or try out the nearby bistros and tapas bars.

There’s a cool serenity to this home in Madrid’s lively Chueca neighbourhood with its blue and white living space and bohemian, Japanese-inspired decor. Mellow out on the sofa while listening to a vinyl record or catch up on work at the long desk in the forest green second bedroom. Carefully curated design details – like the master bedroom’s half-moon headboard – give the space a modern feel while the wicker and wood accents lend a peaceful feeling of nature to the proceedings. Our favourite spot, however, is the private balcony with its views over the city’s rooftops. Sit here with your morning coffee while catching some Spanish rays or take in breathtaking sunset views over a glass of Spanish wine. Outside of your home, your Chueca locale is packed with cosy sidewalk cafes, tapas bars, restaurants and a vibrant bar scene, as well as boutiques, and popular markets like San Antón (a ten-minute walk) and Plaza del Dos de Mayo (a four-minute walk). Elsewhere there’s plenty of retail therapy to enjoy along Gran Vía (a fifteen-minute walk) and both the Royal Palace of Madrid and El Retiro Park are walkable in twenty-four minutes. 


Blue Dusk

With many of Madrid’s must-see attractions within easy reach, this home is an ideal base from which to explore the Spanish capital. And for those in the city on business, it holds an extra bonus – a dedicated office space, complete with a desk and lounge area. But, if this is a holiday in the true sense of the word, then we think you’ll find this area handy too. After all, where better to indulge in a good book, with a glass of wine in hand? Just mind your head on those sloping ceilings that make the space so cosy. 

Serenity's Calling

Warm and welcoming, this apartment is an excellent home-from-home in Barcelona. You’ll find it in Example Esquerra, one of the city’s most sought-after neighbourhoods – it’s a hub of culture, with lively nightlife alongside galleries and restaurants. You’ll be just a short walk from the sights of the city centre, too. We love the apartment’s full-length windows, which add to the home’s bright and breezy vibe. It’s equipped with everything you might need for a city break, including a handy workstation for those in town for business or study.

Buttercup Bloom

What this apartment may lack in size, it makes up for in location. It’s an ideal base for a couple or solo traveller – and for those in Madrid on business, the desk will be a welcome bonus. With a sofa bed for two extra guests, it works nicely for families who are happy to share their space, too. The kitchen and bathroom are both on the small side, but you’ll find all the key ingredients for a comfortable stay here. Locally, culture abounds with a plethora of museums nearby, or El Retiro Park for a stroll or morning jog.
