Located near Goya, Evita will bring you into an authentic, beautiful neighbourhood, only minutes away from Retiro Park. The nearby buildings, which you can see from the comfort of your huge bay windows, boast typical townhouse decoration, and there are lots of fantastic cafes nearby. Although this house is simply decorated, every item feels like it's in the right place, creating a coherent modern look. Aside from the natural light in the communal area, we really enjoyed the cosy study between the bedrooms.

Walk the short sixteen minutes to El Retiro Park – once exclusively open to royalty – and admire the stunning fountains and statues of Spanish heroes as you take a leisurely stroll. Then, why not stop for a coffee or a bite to eat in one of the park’s open-air cafes before continuing with the rest of your plans.

Utilise the great public transport links and visit the Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace, both of which can be reached in twenty to thirty minutes. Or, stay closer to home to peruse the many art galleries in the area which can be reached in as little as four minutes by foot. 

In the late afternoon, why not take a reinvigorating siesta or relax on the internal balcony – which opens up via French doors from the living space – and offers not only a delightfully bright place to enjoy the views but also shelters you from the elements on rainy days.

It’s an open-plan studio apartment, so privacy is limited – two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, which is separated from the bedroom with a partition. The apartment is also close to the Manuel Becerra metro station and there are lots of parks and green spaces nearby, including Parque Maria Eva Duarte de Perón.

This apartment is located in Madrid's stylish Salamanca neighbourhood. While it's on the smaller side, you'll have a spacious terrace with an outdoor dining area and views over the city. You won't find much parking in this area, but the nearest bus stop is only a short walk away and really opens up the city. At an additional cost you can bring a furry friend, and it serves as a comfortable and practical base whether you're visiting the city for business or leisure.

Opposite the iconic bullfighting ring, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, this home has an enviable location. It's extremely well-connected to public transport links and plenty of traditional tapas spots are within walking distance. Some of the furniture is a little dated and the touristic photography won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it still has plenty of strengths. Recently renovated, everything works perfectly. The wifi is speedy, the parquet flooring is immaculate, and we loved the little terrace – a sweet place to enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore the city.

With El Retiro Park and the grand boulevards of Salamanca all within walking distance, the upmarket residential neighbourhood of Lista is the place to be. Discover it all from this stylish apartment right in the heart of it all. Not that you'd know it sat in the tranquil shared garden – a rare find for a home this central. While we can't fault the apartment's sophisticated interiors, the last two bedrooms feel a little compact compared to the main bedroom, but there's still everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep. The three dedicated desk spaces will be handy, too, for anyone planning to work or study.

The Green Grazia

Perfect for a group of friends or family, this city oasis in the vibrant Lista neighbourhood is a real find. There’s a balcony for morning coffees, a desk for when work is on the agenda and a large wooden table for sharing tapas dinners. There’s a record player here too, so while this area can be on the livelier side, you can enjoy evenings at home with your own entertainment. From here, you’re within walking distance of many of the city’s cultural landmarks, though if you feel like taking public transport, you’re just a few steps from Lista metro station.

Nestled in Madrid's Diego de León street, this sleek pad has a large balcony with seating and a dedicated home office space. You'll be able to bring a furry friend for an additional cost, and with the French doors flung open, the apartment is bright and airy. The location means there's potential for some noise, and you won't find much parking, but we think it's in a great spot from which to get around the city. El Retiro Park is just an eight-minute cycle from your door, and there's plenty of public transport close by for visiting the must-see sights and cultural hotspots.

Walking to Plaza Mayor or Palacio Real will be a breeze, but the nearby streets of Madrid's trendiest neighbourhood will have you stopping in art galleries and cosy bars along the way. This is a well-executed home with curated artwork, where special attention has been given to the details. It might not be the biggest home in our collection, but it has a pleasant, bohemian chic vibe that fits in perfectly in the spirit of Malasaña. 

Autumn Jungle

This bright, stylish apartment is a superb base for six in Madrid. It’s centrally located, right next to the Parque del Retiro – the city centre’s largest park. You’ll be in the heart of the so-called tapa mile, the neighbourhood with the highest concentration of high-end cuisine in Madrid. When you’re not out seeing the sights or dining in style, you’ll be grateful to have such a marvellous home-from-home. One of the bedrooms is set up with a sofa bed and also has a desk, so is ideal for those working during their stay.

With a fantastic address, just off the Paseo de la Castellana, this apartment has a wealth of attractions nearby. The upmarket districts of Salamanca, Chamberi and Justicia are all close, so you'll have plenty of fine restaurants, chic boutiques and art galleries to enjoy. With one of Madrid's main avenues on your doorstep, the slight downside is you will hear some street noise here, but it's easily fixed with some earplugs if you're a light sleeper. We have to say, we love the views over Plaza Villa de París from this home. The kitchen is well-equipped, so you can cook some homemade meals or let your host arrange a private chef to create some of your favourite tapas dishes.

Naturally, the living space features two huge glass doors leading you to a private balcony facing on to the celebrated square. A cushy white sofa and dining chairs around a glass table bring a futuristic feel, while pink orchids contrast with an organic edge.

The bedroom, meanwhile, is just as serene with its tropical statement wall and king-size bed, while the marble-clad bathroom beckons long bubble baths after a day of seeing the sights.

Speaking of exploring, you’ve got plenty to see and do within easy walking distance, including Puerta del Sol (eight minutes), Plaza Mayor (ten minutes), the Royal Palace of Madrid (fifteen minutes) and the Museo Nacional del Prado (twenty minutes). With your host able to arrange tickets to events and museums, as well as organise trips to nearby towns, cities and wineries, you’re all set to experience Madrid in style.

When you see as many flats as we do, you learn very quickly to tell which homes have been done up for convenience, and which are a labour of love. Toquilla clearly falls into the latter category. It’s been designed as a whole, with thought and attention put into the schemes, as well as the materials. We particularly liked the concrete pillars and the glass walls, neither of which are especially common in Madrid. The only real complaint we have is the fake plants – They’re understandable for the convenience, but really, most places would be better off without anything.


Toquilla

Set within the heart of Madrid, this apartment is an ideal base for those looking to drop off their suitcases and head out to explore. It's a studio, so space is limited. We think it's best for couples or solo travellers, though a sofa bed could sleep an additional guest if needed. Locally, indulge in some tasty tapas, soak up some culture at the Prado Museum, or head to Plaza Mayor or Puerta del Sol for a true taste of Madrid.

In the heart of Madrid, just a few metres away from Plaza Mayor and within walking distance of Puerta del Sol, this city apartment couldn't be better located. Keep in mind that some noise should be expected here, but we think it's a small price to pay for this central spot. You'll find a great selection of restaurants on your doorstep if you'd like to sample the local cuisine, but if you'd prefer to dine in, the kitchen is well-equipped for homemade tapas. 

Madrid Serenade

This luxurious apartment is located in the heart of Madrid’s Salamanca district, surrounded by boutiques, restaurants, and cafes. El Retiro Park is less than five minutes away on foot, there are galleries nearby, and a Metro station is just along the road. Housed in a stately building in a classic Madridian style, the apartment is stylish and sophisticated.
