In the morning, grab a coffee and watch the world go by in Marqués de Salamanca Square, soaking up the atmosphere of this incredible city. In the evening, hop from one bar to the next and sample tapas as you go. 
If busy days of shopping and seeing the city sights leave you craving the great outdoors, stroll seventeen minutes to El Retiro Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rent a bike to explore the park and find the perfect picnic spot.

Although this home is slightly further away from the most important sights, Plaza Mayor is still within easy reach by metro. Instead, this home is only a short walk away from Retiro, Madrid's largest park–well-suited for someone who appreciates a quieter neighbourhood. The Peacock and the Steed has is an eclectic home that mixes minimalist design in the kitchen and living room with more classical influences in the bedroom. Our favourite is the freestanding bath and the original hydraulic tiles from the seventies.

Nestled in Madrid's Diego de León street, this sleek pad has a large balcony with seating and a dedicated home office space. You'll be able to bring a furry friend for an additional cost, and with the French doors flung open, the apartment is bright and airy. The location means there's potential for some noise, and you won't find much parking, but we think it's in a great spot from which to get around the city. El Retiro Park is just an eight-minute cycle from your door, and there's plenty of public transport close by for visiting the must-see sights and cultural hotspots.

Perfect for a group of friends or family, this city oasis in the vibrant Lista neighbourhood is a real find. There’s a balcony for morning coffees, a desk for when work is on the agenda and a large wooden table for sharing tapas dinners. From here, you’re within walking distance of many of the city’s cultural landmarks, though if you feel like taking public transport, you’re just a few steps from Lista metro station.

Located near Goya, Evita will bring you into an authentic, beautiful neighbourhood, only minutes away from Retiro Park. The nearby buildings, which you can see from the comfort of your huge bay windows, boast typical townhouse decoration, and there are lots of fantastic cafes nearby. Although this house is simply decorated, every item feels like it's in the right place, creating a coherent modern look. Aside from the natural light in the communal area, we really enjoyed the cosy study between the bedrooms.

You’ll find this apartment in the Lista neighbourhood, making it an ideal place to stay whether you’re in the Spanish capital for work or leisure. Indeed, for business travellers, the desk in this home provides the perfect spot for remote working – just don’t work too hard when you could be soaking up the sun on the private balcony, instead. Locally, El Retiro Park serves up some welcome greenery in the midst of the city, and you’ll find museums aplenty for when you’re ready to indulge in a little culture.

Bright and vibrantly designed, this eclectic apartment is located in the stylish Salamanca neighbourhood, moments away from the refined boutiques and restaurants that line the ‘Golden Mile.' It’s an open-plan studio apartment, so privacy is limited – two guests will be sleeping on a sofa bed in the living space, which is separated from the bedroom with a partition. On the plus side, you’ll have a kitchen to prepare meals in. The apartment is also close to the Manuel Becerra metro station and there are lots of parks and green spaces nearby, including Parque Maria Eva Duarte de Perón.

With El Retiro Park and the grand boulevards of Salamanca all within walking distance, the upmarket residential neighbourhood of Lista is the place to be. Discover it all from this stylish apartment right in the heart of it all. Not that you'd know it sat in the tranquil shared garden – a rare find for a home this central. While we can't fault the apartment's sophisticated interiors, the last two bedrooms feel a little compact compared to the main bedroom, but there's still everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep. The three dedicated desk spaces will be handy, too, for anyone planning to work or study.

Live like a local in the neighbourhood of Ventas. The Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas is within walking distance, and there are various eateries and bars to enjoy. The area is well connected to the urban bus and metro transport network, which is handy, as most of the city's attractions are a ride away. There's a small balcony, although you may have to work out a rota system as the table here only seats two, but the dining table inside seats six people. There's also a desk in the main bedroom if you need to work from home. All in all, if you don't mind being away from the action, this is a lovely base for your Madrid adventure.

Located in the heart of Madrid’s Lista neighbourhood, this home is ideally placed for exploring everything the city has to offer. Begin your day with breakfast in the cosy nook in the kitchen before unfolding your maps across the desk of the dedicated workstation to plan the sights you want to see that day. 

Walk the short sixteen minutes to El Retiro Park – once exclusively open to royalty – and admire the stunning fountains and statues of Spanish heroes as you take a leisurely stroll. Then, why not stop for a coffee or a bite to eat in one of the park’s open-air cafes before continuing with the rest of your plans.

Utilise the great public transport links and visit the Plaza Mayor and the Royal Palace, both of which can be reached in twenty to thirty minutes. Or, stay closer to home to peruse the many art galleries in the area which can be reached in as little as four minutes by foot. 

In the late afternoon, why not take a reinvigorating siesta or relax on the internal balcony – which opens up via French doors from the living space – and offers not only a delightfully bright place to enjoy the views but also shelters you from the elements on rainy days. 

At dinner time, we would love nothing more than to go on a Spanish tapas tour of the local bars –which can be reached in as little as twelve minutes on foot. Then, wind down for the day as you kick back and relax on the designer furnishings and enjoy the salon’s full entertainment system.

This renovated penthouse apartment offers a cosy Madrid getaway. The bedroom is up on a mezzanine level, and it's worth noting that the staircase has no railing and the ceiling gets a bit low where the bed is, so it might not be the best choice for taller guests. The sofa bed in the living area adds flexibility to the sleeping arrangements – while the maximum occupancy is still two, we think this home is ideal for friends travelling together. As for the location, you'll be within reach of several fantastic restaurants, as well as public transport for experiencing the city.

Opposite the iconic bullfighting ring, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, this home has an enviable location. It's extremely well-connected to public transport links and plenty of traditional tapas spots are within walking distance. Some of the furniture is a little dated and the touristic photography won't be everyone's cup of tea, but it still has plenty of strengths. Recently renovated, everything works perfectly. The wifi is speedy, the parquet flooring is immaculate, and we loved the little terrace – a sweet place to enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore the city.

Nestled among the vivacious nightlife, medieval streets, and traditional tapas bars of Madrid’s lively Lavapiés neighbourhood, this apartment is in the mix of the city’s bursting cultural scene. Here, you’re steps away from the city’s most popular tourist attractions, but far enough from the throngs of crowds.

Stepping inside, you’ll find a bright, minimalist interior that’ll suit any preference. Natural light billows through the patio doors, inviting you to enjoy your morning coffee from the Juliet balcony, watching daily life resume in the streets below. From woven carpets to the textured headboards, it's apparent that the hosts like playing with details. The design is somewhat lacking a coherent theme, but Blue Torito is still a solid, bright, and comfortable choice, with access to a resident-only pool and terrace.

It's genuinely cosy and comfortable and the original artwork on the walls gives it a distinctly homey vibe. Two sweet balconies look out onto the typically graffitied streets of trendy Malasaña neighbourhood, and a tonne of quirky cafes, bakeries, restaurants and vintage shops are all close by. Ideal for a younger crowd, it's a ten-minute walk to central Gran Via, and fifteen to the busy Puerta del Sol.

Ten minutes from the alfresco drinking spots of Plaza Mayor, and just over fifteen from the lush greenery of the Parque de El Retiro, this apartment is a wonderful base in Madrid. Despite being so close to main attractions and located among the most vibrant streets, it’s a space where you can relax. This apartment is classy, colourful, and comfortable. The host has taken it upon themself to create a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city, curating an eclectic look with antiques and flea-market finds. We love the living and dining room, complete with mid-century chairs and a chandelier to create an elegant glow for dinner parties. Another fabulous use of light comes from the shuttered windows to your private balcony. With three sets of rich, wooden folding doors, you can step out to the railings with a glass of tempranillo after supper to watch the city light up at nightfall. With decorative, gilded bed frames in the sumptuous bedrooms, you’ll even feel stylish while you sleep. Rest up well, because you’ve got some exploring to do the next morning – the three galleries of the Art Walk are all less than fifteen minutes away.

This is an elaborate home that impresses with the broad strokes as well as fine ones. An enviable structure with high ceilings and big windows is filled with custom-made furniture that leaves plenty of space to move around. We loved the use of space that puts desks, chairs and bold art pieces in unexpected places – against all odds, it works.

This homely apartment puts you in the upmarket neighbourhood of Castellana, Madrid’s main financial district. It’s not all business, though – the streets are lined with flashy boutiques, bars, and restaurants. It’s handy for both business and leisure travellers. Plus, the easily accessible public transport connects you with the rest of the city. Back home, the space might be a little snug for all four guests, but it’s a cosy place to relax after a day in the city. It’s a great fit for both long and short term stays, with an excellent location, functional amenities, and two remote working stations.
