We love the window seat nestled by the door to the terrace – perfect for snuggling down with a good book to while away the hours during some downtime in your apartment. 

The rooftop terrace will entice you out with ease. It’s just the spot to start or end the day –  enjoy a morning coffee as the city stirs into life below and the sun warms your skin or gather with friends of an evening, sharing a bottle of wine and tales from the day. Up here, hidden amongst the rooftops, you could almost forget you were in the heart of Madrid. With the distant sounds of the city below, you’ll soon be itching to get out and explore. There’s a whole host of eateries on your doorstep, so stop to sample some local cuisine before discovering the elegant boulevards and manicured parks Spain’s capital is so rightfully proud of. 

Straight to the Top

The most remarkable thing about Espinas is the quiet. Despite having three balconies, and being in the middle of Lavapiés, the street it looks onto is actually fairly calm. The building is old, and a lot of the original structure features prominently in the flat, which has been designed to complement the space, rather than dominate it. There is some pretty loud wallpaper though, which stops the design from falling into the dreaded ‘neutral’ category.


Espinas

A modern and practical base in the vibrant and multicultural Lavapiés neighbourhood, this apartment offers a fuss-free stay on the doorstep of the Tabacalera cultural centre and Reina Sofía Museum. Some of Madrid’s most eclectic restaurants are on the doorstep, though your kitchenette is well-equipped for nights cooking at home. It’s worth noting there isn’t a lot of natural light here, but the decor is contemporary and has all the basics you could need for an easygoing stay. 

The City in My Pocket

This bright and welcoming apartment is small but perfectly formed. We love the charm of the exposed wooden beams in this cosy home – it’s a delightful space to return to after busy days of sightseeing. And you’ll be able to explore easily from this convenient setting – Plaza Major is just a short walk away. Puerta de Toledo metro station is nearby too, making seeing further-afield sights as easy as can be. 

The Light of His Eye

Treat yourself to a stay at this gorgeous modern apartment situated right in the heart of Madrid. It’s the perfect place to base yourself if you want to get immersed in all that this vibrant capital has to offer. 

Step through the front door to be welcomed by a cosy and light-filled interior, lovingly decorated with vintage-themed pieces. We love the striking wallpapers adorning the walls in each of the rooms – while bold wallpaper designs can be a hit and miss, here they really work adding to the charming ambience of this place.

Head over to the well-equipped kitchen to rustle up a delicious supper to be enjoyed by the entire party at the elegant dining table. 

For a night of rest and sweet dreams, you have to look no further than the comfy bedrooms, each decorated with a different colour scheme – pick the one which best suits your mood. 

Outside your floral oasis you’ll find yourself in the best possible spot for exploring the city – why not start with what’s on your doorstep, namely the charming narrow streets of La Latina, with their vibrant cafes and restaurants. 


Blossom On the Tree

It can be difficult to find accommodation suited to larger groups in the heart of the city, but this smart apartment will tick all the boxes. With plenty of space and flexible sleeping options, this central home is the perfect place to spend some quality time with your guests between your sightseeing excursions. 

You'll love the spacious living area, with double-height ceilings and huge windows that flood the space with natural light. The bike sculptures and selection of houseplants add some quirkiness, while the open-plan layout is perfect for socialising. Uncork a bottle of delicious Spanish wine, and put together some tasty tapas dishes to share at the stylish dining bench. The famous Puerta del Sol is just an eight-minute walk away from your front door, where you can see famous sights like the Puerta del Sol Clock and the El Oso y El Madroño sculpture. History fans will be happy to know that the Royal Palace is a fifteen-minute walk away, and the Museo Nacional del Prado is the same distance in the opposite direction. And, if you're craving some serenity after all that sightseeing then head to El Retiro Park and wander through the rose gardens before enjoying a picnic by the lake.

Factor in the thoroughly modern bathroom with its luxurious rainfall shower, and you’ve got everything you need for a carefree, relaxing stay. 
 
When it comes to sightseeing, your La Latina neighbourhood offers a maze of narrow lanes filled with tapas bars and cantinas to discover, while bargain hunters won’t want to miss the El Rastro flea market held each Sunday, a ten-minute walk away. Elsewhere, bustling Plaza Mayor is a nine-minute walk, the Royal Palace of Madrid is a fifteen-minute stroll and the world-famous Museo Nacional del Prado is eighteen minutes away on foot. 


The Squares of La Latina

This home is far from a pristine condition, but we're sure you can spot the wear and tear from the photos. The exposed wooden beams and the older-looking elements help create a special kind of charm that's hard to find in Madrid these days. The Open Library might also have one of the finest kitchens we've seen, equipped with enough dishes space to cook for a small army. The fact that it's also located within walking distance from the Prado and Puerta del sol makes this home a great, relaxed stay. 

The Open Library

Nestled in the bustling heart of the city, this Lavapiés apartment is just the spot for those who want interior design and location. From here, you can walk to El Retiro, Mercado Antón Martín and Museo Nacional del Prado, as well as all the city’s top eateries. The apartment accommodates five, with three sleeping on sofa beds, so though perhaps a little compact, the flexibility is there if you need it. And while you’ll need to climb some stairs to reach this fourth-floor pad, the stylish interiors and little balcony are a treat after a long day of sightseeing. 

Painted Haven

This minimal pad is located in the vibrant Lavapiés neighbourhood and offers an ideal stay on the doorstep of the Plaza Mayor and Reina Sofía Museum. The apartment itself is modern, though the kitchen needs a refresh – that said, some of Madrid’s most eclectic restaurants are right on your doorstep. With space for six guests, two of which will be on the living room sofa bed, it'll do nicely as a city base – all the sights are within easy reach, and Lavapiés metro is just a short walk away.

Fashioned in Spain
