A tour of this home reveals a glamorous hybrid design theme that balances modern baroque-inspired pieces with jungle and safari themes – dear lovers of minimalism, you might want to stay elsewhere. But if gold-coated flora and fauna with an occasional crown-cum-skull ensemble sound like heaven to you, then you'll find Queen of the Castle an absolute delight. This chic and attractive apartment has everything you might need for a comfortable city break. It’s located in Chueca, one of Madrid’s liveliest neighbourhoods, full of cafes, boutiques, and bars. Despite its central location, this is a peaceful home-from-home, ideal for unwinding after busy sightseeing days and evenings spent feasting on tapas. It’s bright and welcoming, flooded with light, and has been beautifully decorated in muted tones. Two guests will sleep on a sofa bed in the living room – if you’re hoping for more space, we’d recommend a maximum occupancy of two. 

The Bohemian Retreat

Situated in the central neighbourhood of Malasaña and just a fifteen-minute walk to most attractions, this apartment is a great base from which to explore Madrid. A light and beautiful home, the space combines cosy comfort with a youthful vibe. The living areas have wooden beams and whitewashed walls, but added to the style are pop-art paintings and Coca-Cola memorabilia. Homely touches include vases filled with flowers and the whitest of linen in the bedrooms. In the morning, throw open the tall windows and shutters and let the sounds of the city waft through the rooms. Rustle up breakfast in the kitted-out kitchen, then move into the lounge and sip coffee while looking down on the activity below. There are so many things to do here but there’s no need to rush. Shops, restaurants, bars and attractions are all within walking distance and if you need public transport the metro station is a mere five-minute stroll away. Phew!

With this apartment you get the best of both worlds – it’s situated between the traditional Chamberí district and the vibrant Malasaña neighbourhood. The Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque is a short stroll away, as is the Liria Palace. There’s a wide array of eateries within walking distance as well, offering cuisines from Spanish to Japanese and Persian. We love the large open-plan living space at this home – this room also sleeps guests three and four on a sofa bed. There’s a desk here too for when you need to work while staying in Spain’s capital city.

This is a calm, dreamy home with lots of nooks to hide away and relax. Think gentle, coherent style and wonderful details, such as the rock wall in the living room or the breakfast bar in the open kitchen. The huge door-to-ceiling windows in the living room bring in the daylight without the noise, making you almost forget that you're located in the heart of Malasaña. We recommend the nearby Toma Cafe for a taste of the local atmosphere.

We'd struggle to think of a better location than Gran Vía. This avenue is the city's lifeline, filed with theatres, shops and great transport links to Madrid's many landmarks. Grey Magnolia isn't only central, it looks good too. Some might find its minimalism a bit boring, but the well-curated designer furniture has plenty of character, making the most of the small square footage. We especially liked the headboard in the bedroom and the chic dining table.

The Narcisse is only a few minutes away from Calle Fuencarral, one of our favourite shopping streets in Madrid. To say that it's centrally located is an understatement, especially since this home is practically surrounded by Malasaña's finest quirky cafes and restaurants. Narcisse is an ambitious home – the golden details are risky but well-balanced with calmer tones, and the layout is (rightfully) focused on maximising the natural light, which mostly comes from the French doors. But in the end, this home won us over with the urban view.

Modern and bright, this home in Madrid’s centre – just a one-minute walk from Gran Vía – is a treat for those looking to make the most out of the city’s attractions. 

A laid-back beach vibe sets a relaxing tone in the home’s decor, with wood floors, wicker and macrame ornaments as well as a large leafy houseplant adding to the serene feel. We love how much natural light fills the main living space and the glass doors that lead out onto a Juliet balcony – the ideal spot to perch while enjoying your morning coffee. Evenings call for meals prepared by a private chef (your host can organise this) in the sleek kitchen and dining area, while a peaceful night’s sleep is on the cards in the tropical-accented bedroom. 

When you’re not chilling out in your chic pad, go out and explore the city. You’re a ten-minute walk from Plaza Mayor, a fifteen-minute stroll from the Royal Palace of Madrid and twenty minutes on foot from the Museo Nacional del Prado. With your host able to organise everything from personal shoppers to chauffeurs, wine tours and tickets to events and museums, there’s no end to the enjoyment and fun in store. 


Siempre Sol

Despite being located in the heart of Malasaña, Autumn Jungle is tucked away on a quiet street. Walking to Plaza Mayor or Palacio Real will be a breeze, but the nearby streets of Madrid's trendiest neighbourhood will have you stopping in art galleries and cosy bars along the way. This is a well-executed home with curated artwork, where special attention has been given to the details. It might not be the biggest home in our collection, but it has a pleasant, bohemian chic vibe that fits in perfectly in the spirit of Malasaña. 

Autumn Jungle

Malasaña is a frequent traveller's favourite. An ever-changing landscape of artisan cafes and local galleries, it's a perfect start to an off-the-beaten-path holiday. In the Flow is a typical Malasaña resident – relaxed and bohemian, with a mixture of high-quality furnishings and flea-market knick-knacks that add to its charm. It might not be a great home if you're particularly tall (due to the slanting ceilings), but it's big, bright, and comfortable.

Keen to be in the hustle and bustle? This apartment, just a ten-minute stroll from Gran Vía, may be a great choice. It's easy to get to all the landmarks on foot or by metro, and there are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Unsurprisingly it can get a tad noisy – but that's part of the city experience. We love the bright living area, and the two snug bedrooms channel Spanish sunshine with their yellow paint. Size-wise, it's rather compact but still comfortable – just note that it's on the second floor and lacks a lift.

Amber Thistle

Molten Brass is neat and tidy. There isn’t a lot that jumps out at you, but that’s not necessarily a problem – the atmosphere inside is pretty calm. That stands in contrast to the atmosphere on the street below, which is pretty intense, but that’s because you’re in the heart of Malasaña, so there’s tonnes to do. As is common with any flat that is rented out all the time, there’s a lack of personality but the attention to detail, and generally pleasant, if simple, design help make the flat feel more homely.


Molten Brass

This apartment in the Malasaña district of Madrid is a true sanctuary in the city. With plenty of style and a location in one of the most exciting areas of the capital, it's the perfect place to kick back and relax between your adventures. 

The pink-themed decor is chic without being too sugary sweet – think sorbet-coloured chairs and a soft, velour sofa. Uncork a bottle of Albariño wine and get comfortable after a busy day of sightseeing – you'll feel at home in no time at all. When you get hungry, you can whip up some of your favourite dishes in the kitchen to serve at the serene dining space. And, come evening, you can look forward to a fantastic night's sleep in one of the cosy bedrooms, complete with crisp white sheets. 

The surrounding streets are full of bakeries, quirky bars, and vintage clothing shops that are popular with local students and visiting tourists alike. When you want to do some sightseeing, take a fifteen-minute walk over to the Royal Palace, then visit Plaza Mayor, one of the city's most famous squares. And, if you want to travel further afield, simply hop on the subway at Noviciado station – it's just three minutes away from your front door.

We love this apartment’s spacious roof terrace with its views over the city. It has two seating areas, while inside there are two living spaces as well (one has low ceilings, so be prepared to duck if you’re tall). This home is located in the heart of Malasaña, a district known for its history, vintage shops and cool cafés. Explore Plaza del 2 de Mayo with its weekend market stalls or immerse yourself in the exhibits in the Conde Duque Contemporary Culture Center nearby.

Cosy and charming, this apartment nestled in the heart of the vibrant centre of Madrid is the perfect spot for a romantic city break for two. While outside you’ll find yourself amidst the hustle and bustle of the capital, here you’ll be able to relax and enjoy total peace and tranquillity. 

The place might be small in scale but it never feels cramped – you’ll have plenty of room to relax in the comfy living area, under the watchful eye of Audrey Hepburn gazing down from the wall. Enjoy snuggly evenings of Spanish wine and conversation here – you can also rustle up quick and delicious meals in the bright and modern kitchen. Savour them at the elegant dining table, ideal for candlelit suppers – in case you have some laptop work to catch up on this is also the place to get that out of the way.

While the two balconies make sure that there's plenty of light in the living room and kitchen, wooden details in each room add to a coherent style that is most obviously expressed through the exposed wooden beams. We felt that the two bedrooms could benefit from an update, but the living room with the open-plan kitchen is one of the most stylish spaces we've seen in Madrid so far.

Simple and practical, this home may not have much in the way of entertainment or flashy amenities, but it offers a great location from which to explore Madrid’s sights. A short walk from the Royal Palace of Madrid and within easy reach of Plaza Mayor and Gran Vía, it’s a central, functional base for those looking to spend most of their time venturing about the city. When you are at home, however, you’ll find a cheerful feature wall in the open-plan living area and a handy dining nook for when you’re not out sampling the local tapas bars. And while the main bedroom is a little cramped, the home has the benefit of two bathrooms – certain to speed up any morning ahead of a busy itinerary.

Perched high above Plaza de España in one of Madrid's tallest buildings, this stunning city-centre apartment is perfectly set up to spark your creative side. It's as if the host managed to condense their joie de vivre into the living room using nothing but a few carefully placed photos and artefacts that undoubtedly have great stories behind them. The bold prints and stylish furniture only add to the loud, proud and metropolitan ambience. The space itself is also absolutely stunning, with a large, light-filled kitchen/living/dining space that is the undoubted heart of the home. Large picture windows frame the views over the neighbourhood from your vantage point on the eleventh floor. When you want to get a little closer to the action, there's a balcony where you can sit out and enjoy your morning caffeine hit or pre-dinner aperitifs. Continue through to the en-suite bedroom, and the soothing neutral tones set you up for a restful night's sleep, with a spacious dressing area to try on outfit options for the day ahead once you've raised yourself from the comfy bed. The immediate area around the apartment is leafy and residential, so you're in for a more authentic Madrid experience than the usual tourist hotspots. However, the apartment offers the best of both worlds, as many of Madrid's main sights – including the Palacio Real and Plaza Mayor – are within a fifteen-minute walk, while the likes of the Museo Nacional del Prado are under half an hour away on foot.

Creative Assembly

While not overly flashy, Molten Bronze's simplicity is refreshing. The interior is clean, with a few things that really standout, like the kitchen splashback, which is not something we get to highlight very often. For the most part, the furniture and decorations come from Maison du Monde, so it’s solid and stylish, if not unique. The location won’t be for everyone – it’s on a busy street in Malasaña, so it isn’t very peaceful, but there’s loads to do and you won’t get bored.


Molten Bronze

This home might not be the largest in our collection, but it more than makes up for its petite size with its fabulous location. Situated right on the Plaza de España, it puts you right in the heart of Madrid and makes the perfect place to begin your adventures. 

Step inside, and you'll find a sleek, modern space with parquet flooring and high ceilings. The sofa is great for relaxing in the evening and folds out into a bed, for flexible sleeping arrangements. There's also a little dining table and a chic green-tiled kitchen, where you can whip up tasty meals to refuel after a busy day. And, the stylish blue and mustard yellow colour scheme throughout the apartment creates a sense of calm that will make you feel right at home. 

The Plaza de España right outside the flat is a great place to familiarise yourself with the city – go for a stroll, and soak up the atmosphere of this popular meeting place. Culture fans can take a five-minute walk to the Royal Palace of Madrid to soak up the sense of history, and enjoy a wander through the Jardines de Sabatini afterwards. And, when you get hungry, there's a large selection of nearby restaurants nearby, serving everything from traditional Spanish dishes to Korean meals and Peruvian fare.

Surrounded by artisan coffee shops and boutique art galleries, this apartment sits on a vibrant street in the heart of Malasaña and the eclectic interior design almost seems like a homage to the creative neighbourhood. The opulent sofa with the titular mural wouldn't be out of place in a local design shop, and neither would the dining table with the wooden hand chairs or the disused scooter display. Before accusations of wackiness get thrown about, we'd like to point out that the basics are done very well too. The high ceilings, walls painted in angelic white and washed-out parquet flooring combine to amp up the brightness, while the en-suite bathrooms all feel super-sleek, too. The location also deserves its fair share of praise. Some of Madrid's big-hitters are nearby — the Palace and Cathedral can be reached in fifteen minutes on foot, for example — while the shops and notable architecture of Gran Vía are only five minutes' walk away as well.

We dare you to find a better location for this stylish apartment, stood right in the beating heart of Madrid. You can be ambling along the city's grandest boulevard, Gran Via, with its towering belle-époque facades brimming with restaurants and boutiques, in one minute flat. You're also set equidistance between two of the city's most happening barrios (that's neighbourhoods to us). Head to Malasaña (a five-minute walk) for a morning pottering about the coffee shops, bakeries, and vintage clothing stores. Then grab a table outside at one of the many bustling tapas bars and restaurants of Chueca (a nine-minute walk) and watch day turn to night. Back at home, this apartment housed in an elegant period building along a pretty tree-lined street gives all the Spanish feels – think grand stone facades with ornate balconies. But once inside, this property is as contemporary as it gets, awash in crisp-white interiors. Groups of friends will love the sense of space here, with a vast lounge to crash out in, airy bedrooms bathed in natural light, and sparkling bathrooms with rainfall showers. Even though this is a full-time rental property, it doesn't feel boring – the colour-coordinated artwork on the walls makes Labradorite especially easy on the eyes.

Angela, the host, actually used to live in this apartment when she was a kid. She later inherited it from her father. It was empty for a while, but then she decided to refurbish it with the aid of her husband and daughter (who are both architects), the result being a rustic-meets-Scandinavian-style home of our dreams. It's impossible to find fault with the design – it’s truly the stuff that interior design magazines are made of. Set against Malasaña, the location is also wonderful, with concept stores, independent eateries and coffee shops on your doorstep.

Bohemian Night's Dream

Just a short distance from Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol, this apartment drops you in the heart of the action. Sure, it’s fuss-free in design and some of the spaces are a little cosy, but you’ll find everything needed for a comfortable stay here. And for us, location is key. Some of the iconic hotspots in the local area include the Royal Palace of Madrid and the Almudena Cathedral. Ready to venture further afield? Hop on the nearby metro to explore the city with ease.

Tucked away in Malasaña-Universidad, this apartment combines comfort with style to bring you an unforgettable city stay. There are dedicated desks for remote workers and the cosy living room has a sound system and Smart TV – making it easy to switch off after a day of exploring. Two of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms and the single bedroom is a great option for kids.
