We would love to spend some time every day here strolling around the beautiful Retiro Park which used to belong to the Spanish Monarchy until it was opened up to the public to enjoy in the late nineteenth century. Wander through the green space, admiring the fountains and statues of Spaniards before taking a break in one of the open-air cafes. 

Hop on public transport to explore even more sights and attractions of Madrid, including the Plaza Mayor – reachable in twenty-nine minutes. Then, after a busy day, dine at one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood which are within a four-minute walk. Once a convent, now home to a sleek and contemporary apartment, this place is perfect for families or groups of friends looking to stay in the heart of Madrid. We loved the industrial-chic interiors – it’s all poured concrete floors, exposed brick walls and reclaimed timber beams. Kick back on the royal blue sofa or slink off for a siesta in the quiet bedrooms as the appointed chef of your group whips up Spanish delicacies for lunch. 

After the plates are cleared, plan your itinerary at the dining table. We recommend starting with the Royal Palace, a mere ten-minute walk from your doorstep. If you’d like to stretch your legs a little further, it’s a thirty-minute stroll to El Retiro Park. Pause for a coffee on the buzzing Calle Cava Baja before picking a spot to bask in the sunshine beside El Retiro Lake.

We loved the use of space that puts desks, chairs and bold art pieces in unexpected places – against all odds, it works.

This bright and welcoming apartment is a comfortable and quiet oasis in the heart of Lavapiés, one of Madrid’s best-loved neighbourhoods. From this convenient base, you’re within easy reach of designer shops, bars, markets and theatres, in addition to some of the city’s most popular tourist spots – Plaza Mayor is only a fifteen-minute walk. Lavapiés metro station is also a short walk away. Ideal for those working during their stay, there are two desks at this home.

This is a big and cleverly laid-out home that impressed us with how quiet it was – in spite of the fact that it's in the strictest centre of Madrid. Both Puerta del Sol and the Prado are within walking distance, setting you up for great sightseeing walks. Corinthian gives the impression of old-timey grandeur. It's not a scratch-free home, but one that feels lived in and furnished with a personality. The high ceiling and use of wood in almost every room give it a warm and welcoming vibe.
