You'll love the traditional wooden beams, tiled floor, and large French windows that flood the space with natural light. You can admire the street views below from the Juliet balcony, before getting comfy on the sofa with a glass of Rioja. And, when hunger strikes, the pretty blue kitchen is well-equipped, so you can rustle up some of your favourite dishes. 

Plaza Mayor, Madrid's buzzing main square, is just a street away, and is the perfect first stop on your sightseeing schedule. You can also wander over to the Royal Palace and the adjacent baroque cathedral – they're must-sees for culture fans. Or, head in the opposite direction, to spend some time at the Museo Nacional del Prado before strolling through the city's marvellous botanical gardens.

Watching The World Go By

When you embark on a city break, you want to be close to the central hub of the city. This snug apartment caters to your thirst for adventure – it's just moments from Plaza Mayor, Plaza del Sol in Madrid and other iconic landmarks. 

Despite its central location, the apartment maintains a peaceful hum at all times. When sipping your coffee in the morning or relaxing on the sofa in the evening, you won't believe you're in the heart of a flourishing metropolis. 

Start your days admiring the striking buildings that are on your doorstep. Between each landmark, stop off for some paella, tapas or risotto, complemented by the famous Spanish beers. You can also treat yourself to a jug of sangria if you're feeling a more fruity vibe.

Come the evening, your options in the Spanish capital are boundless. Mingle with locals in the bars, stroll around the city to find hidden gems or simply rest in the tranquility of your home.


Two Squared

The terrace is the first thing that strikes you about Sail-Shade, so let’s not dwell on that. The living room is lovely, and the rest of the place is very comfortable, if not particularly ground-breaking. The atmosphere is almost like a hotel – you have both a twenty-four-hour reception, and a daily cleaning service – but that also goes the other way. The flat is missing some of the character that you’d expect if it were actually someone’s home. 


Sail-Shade

This apartment is situated in the Huertas-Cortés neighbourhood, with its narrow, elegant streets and beautiful architecture. You’ll find a variety of museums as well as plenty of dining options within walking distance, along with co-working spaces. Not that you’ll probably need them as this home has several desks if you need to work while away. An absolute highlight of this home, we think, is the private courtyard garden with its vine-clad walls – the perfect spot to relax after a busy day.

Literary Legacy

Simplicity is at the fore when it comes to Windcomb. The sense of space is not something to be taken for granted, either. Eight people, and not a sofa bed in sight. Unfortunately, it’s rather common for unscrupulous landlords to try to shoehorn people in, but that’s certainly not the case here. It’s a bit of a pain to have to climb up the steps, but that’s an occupational risk when you test so many homes in old buildings – it’s hardly a dealbreaker.


Windcomb

Located in one of Madrid's most charming neighbourhoods, the Barrio de las Letras –  step outside and you'll discover terrific restaurants, trendy bars, and little boutiques. It is noisy, but you're in the heart of the action here. Wander over to El Retiro Park, perfect for getting away from the city with a picnic in the park, and a stroll around the art in the 19th Century Crystal Palace. Chueca, famous for its active nightlife and wonderful vintage tapas bars, is a great place to experience Spanish nightlife. Most importantly, before hitting the bars, seek out a quaint restaurant for delightful tapas. This is all achievable due to the transport links that you can easily tour the entire city with.

From the open-plan living area to the breakfast bar, ideal for cooking up some morning delights. Light colours prevail with a splash of colour, adding elegance to the design and unique furnishings. The bedrooms are spacious and cheerful, thanks to large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Its high-quality finishes complement the rest of the floor's decorative style, creating a sense of absolute harmony and beauty.


Guilty Pleasure

Location-wise, this home is a ten out of ten. Beautiful Plaza Mayor is just around the corner, which means that many of Madrid’s most famous attractions are all within walking distance. We also loved the design – pastel-hued chicness and a feminine take on Scandinavian style in one, it’s the epitome of stylish, casual luxury. The kitchen is on the smaller side, but we’re not going to hold that against an otherwise terrific home. Plus, there are so many restaurants nearby that you might not even want to eat at home...

Radiante

Designed with precision and flair, this cheerful apartment sits in the heart of the city. Mosaic flooring, contemporary artwork and urban-chic furniture make this home a thoroughly attractive affair. It’s no wonder really that the interiors have graced the cover of design magazines. Everywhere you look there is modernity, coolness and space. After a day exploring Madrid’s sights and attractions kick off your shoes and relax on one of the soft sofas or freshen up in the gorgeously tiled shower. The whitewashed walls and swathes of natural light have a soothing effect and despite the central location, inside is wonderfully quiet. You’ll soon be feeling suitably relaxed. If you’re in the mood to cook, head to the sleek kitchen. Happily, it overlooks the lounge so you can be part of the conversation while you rustle up a meal. Better yet, take the lift to ground level and make the two-minute walk to Plaza Mayor where a plethora of lively bars, restaurants and cafes await.  

Cool, calm & creative

Located just outside Plaza Mayor’s arches, this ideally located apartment is the perfect base for those looking to soak up Madrid's vibrant, buzzing centre. 

Blending rustic charm with stylish modern accents, this home feels wonderfully Spanish. We love the exposed beamed ceilings and the wood floors, as well as the houseplants and colourful rug in the living area that add additional characterful flair. 
 
The bedroom is elegantly pared back, offering a comfortable night’s sleep, while the dining area invites celebratory homemade tapas feasts when you’re not out sampling the local dining scene. 
 
Our favourite spot, however, is the private balcony with its wide-sweeping views over the city’s rooftops. Enjoy an alfresco breakfast here while catching some morning rays or watch the sunset from your privileged position over an evening glass of Spanish wine. 
 
When you’re ready to venture out for some sightseeing, you’ll find Plaza Mayor less than a minute’s walk away, while bustling Puerta del Sol is a four-minute stroll from your door. Elsewhere, the Royal Palace of Madrid is a ten-minute walk, the famous Museo Nacional del Prado is an eighteen-minute stroll, while leafy El Retiro Park is just over twenty minutes away on foot. 


Mayor Muse

This beautifully boho chic apartment is located in the buzzing city of Madrid, offering you a relaxing and stylish stay. Daylight streams into the living space and bedroom through the large windows, providing you with plenty of natural light to accompany you as you watch a movie on the TV together – accompanied by a warming cup of tea. We personally love the adorable dining nook, with a wonderful wooden bench – a perfect spot to curl up with a book by the cushions. 

The charming kitchen allows you to cook up delicious homemade meals inspired by the local cuisine, followed by tucking into a plate of tasty food together. Duvet days will be hard to resist, thanks to the rustic style bedroom, amplifying those all-important cosy vibes.

Head out to explore the city of Madrid, where you'll find a ton of eateries that serve up local delights as well as global favourites. Cafes, bars, and shops are sprinkled throughout the streets as well as gorgeous historical landmarks, and wonderful backdrops for holiday snaps.

The Boho Nook

A literal stone’s throw from Madrid’s beating heart (the Plaza Mayor), it doesn’t get more central than this apartment. You’re on the edge of the square where pavement cafés spill out onto the cobbles and the porticoed buildings date back to the 16th century when this was the centre of Old Madrid. The surrounded streets are packed with late-night tapas joints and buzzing bars. Or, head to the fresh produce and street food market, Mercado de San Miguel, a three-minute walk away to bring back some tasty local treats to your bijou abode.

It may be a studio, but the full kitchen is tucked away from the bedroom and living area in its own, modern enclave. So you can turn fresh veg, olives and artisan goods into a feast for two with ease. The living area is pristine white and brightened further by sunlight streaming through traditional, French-style windows. Open these up to create a Juliet-style balcony, perfect for people-watching in the buzzing square below.
