From the moment we pulled up outside and saw the setting, we were in love with this gorgeous stone-built home with its mesmerising views over the Mediterranean. Relax on the comfy L-shaped sofa in the stylish living room and drink them in or head to the mezzanine sitting room. Our favourite spot is the Eames-style rocking chair in the bedroom with its lovely beams. 

Outdoors is beautiful, too, and wonderfully private and secluded, thanks to its warm stone walls. Cook up a Mallorcan feast in the outdoor kitchen and enjoy it on the shaded terrace surrounded by cacti and potted palms. Then laze on the sunbeds in the Balearic sun – that's our kind of holiday. This place is absolutely perfect for families.

The location is great too – the charming town of Port de Pollença, with its restaurants and shops, as well as the fine sandy beach, is just three minutes by car, while Can Cullerassa Beach, used mainly by locals, is under 50 metres away.

The double bedrooms look out to sea, so you can wake up to the soothing sight of bobbing waves and yachts passing by. This home has been designed to make the most of the superlative views afforded by the cliff-top setting, so you can expect lots of glass – the turquoise of the sea becomes part of the colour palette. 

The villa is just a five-minute drive from Port Adriano, where you’ll find shops and restaurants, and the port, of course. From here you can set sail on a boat tour of the coast or, if you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, simply sip coffee as you watch the boats pull in. A day trip to Palma might also be on the cards – it’s thirty-five minutes away. There you can stroll the historic streets, dine in top-notch restaurants and explore galleries and museums – it’s well worth the journey.

With a privileged setting right on Cala Deià, this home has breathtaking sea and mountain vistas. Walk down the private path to the beach 50 metres away, relax by the crystal clear waters, and then head for a sublime seafood lunch at one of two restaurants. Or let your host, Jordi, charter a yacht or organise helicopter flights to see more of the island.

Back at this gorgeous home, sip some Cava in the jacuzzi – we adore the views. Inside, there's a boho-chic vibe with Chesterfield armchairs and raffia light shades. The place consists of two separate homes with private entrances, so it's perfect for a family or friends wanting more privacy. Jordi's family built this house when there were no roads here, and they had to use boats and donkeys to carry everything over. Without a shadow of a doubt, we can say their efforts were more than worth it – it's a truly magical place.

This stunning villa was featured in a leading local design magazine, and it’s easy to see why. Inside, a predominantly white-and-blue colour scheme, high ceilings, stylish rattan furniture, and potted palms create a relaxing, breezy beach vibe that puts you at ease instantly. A choice of thirty fruit trees in the orchard, plus numerous vegetables and herbs in the garden, make it super easy to pick the ingredients for lunch. 

Whip up a sumptuous Mediterranean feast in the modern kitchen, and then round up everyone for a lazy meal in one of the numerous indoor and outdoor dining areas. Later you can burn the calories with a game of tennis or basketball, followed by a cooling dip in the pool. In part of the gardens you'll be greeted by the resident flock of sheep – feed them a few stalks of grass and they’ll love you to bits. 

If you manage to tear yourself away from this designer retreat, the village of Alaró has grocery stores, restaurants, and a trendy little gallery hosting exhibitions by local artists. The house was built over 300 years ago, and the original stone walls keep it deliciously cool even in the hottest part of the day. It's been thoughtfully restored so it combines the original architecture with everything modern holidaymakers might need. You’ll find an attractive blend of local Binissalem stone, Mediterranean wood and woven textiles, which create a cool, calm aesthetic. 

Unusually for buildings in Deia, this home has terraces that enjoy the sun from morning until evening, maximising your time to soak up the rays. There’s plenty of space for reading in the shade as well as for sun-worshippers. A covered dining set with a white stone bench is the perfect spot for alfresco meals and glasses of Spanish wine.

Ideal for large families or groups of friends, you'll have access to your own private pool where you can do some paddling or sunbathe and relax, alfresco dining spots for enjoying meals grilled on the barbecue or in the modern kitchen, and the lavish gardens surrounding the home. The location is fantastic – two beaches are easily reached on foot, while historic Alcúdia is just 2 kilometres away – but that's not the only thing that caught our eye. Back home, there's an inviting swimming pool, an eight-seater Jacuzzi, and an array of sun-kissed terraces to take advantage of. Preparing dinner is a breeze in the outdoor kitchen, or, for the ultimate indulgence, hire a private chef to do all the cooking for you. There's also plenty of space here for large groups, with four people sleeping in a guest house – though it does cost a fee to use.

This fabulous period townhouse is a real find. Authentic, beautifully styled and packed with character, it's a homage to the city and its history. Set over five floors, including the stunning roof terrace, its green shuttered windows and balconies are in keeping with the area's traditional feel, and the interior, while stylish and comfortable, reminds us of a museum. Whites and terracotta tones make for a timeless feel, while architectural features like the marble staircase and beamed ceilings provide a backdrop to a collection of antiques, vintage artworks and local artefacts – some even displayed in cabinets. 

The living space is exquisite, with windows to three sides, a comfy sofa and an open plan kitchen and dining space, and although the kitchen isn't huge, the host has managed to pack in everything you could need. But we think you're likely to be eating on the roof terrace most evenings. With its own small preparation kitchen to save you lugging dishes up the stairs, this space is simply beautiful. Eat together at the little table, read on the sun loungers or just take in the views across the rooftops. Given some privacy by a series of screening curtains, it's a superb place to watch the sun go down with a good bottle of wine.
